Is the West side of anything always better? (lighthearted)

So i'm musing about life and suddenly it strikes me that a lot of 'west side' things seem to be better than the other parts.....or is it?

West Dundee is better than North and East Dundee
West of England is richer than the North (in term of prospects)
West facing gardens are better than North, east and South (more sunshine
The ‘West end’ is more exciting than other parts of London
The Western part of the world is more developed than other parts.
West London is richer than other parts of London
West Korea is better than North Korea
West Germany was better than East Germany
Western Zimbabwe hosts some of the countries best tourist attractions.

Please help prove or disprove my theory by adding on your own West's that are better than..(it can be the west of anything).

Hove is west of brighton and when brighton and hove became a combined local authority people from hove were concerned they would become West brighton, but they are still hove (and when people say 'oh you come from brighton', they reply 'it's hove actually')
Realise this is massive generalisation- please take in lighthearted tone it was intended!!

The East side of Beachy Head is far better than the West - weather wise. It's a micro climate all of its own.

East Croydon is marginally better than West Croydon .

There's a great ted talk about why the wrong side of the tracks is usually in the east. The answer is weather!

I cannot believe you’ve said the west end is ‘more exciting’ than other parts of London. This is truly laughable.

As well as Wind direction that pp have mentioned there is also water flow. The west end of London has fresher water than the east as the river gets more and more mucky as it flows towards the sea. Look at cities where the river flows east to west: the posher bits are generally not in the west end there unless they are on a north-south or south-north tributary.

Th West side of LA is the best side

East Dulwich is nicer than West Dulwich.

I believe in cities the west side was always better as the wind blew the factory fumes and smog towards the east.

Would it be fair to say there is a bit of a pattern here? Obviously the ‘West’ being better is not true in every single case but one has to admit there is something there and it’s not just confined to the shores of the U.K.

I commute West to get to work but my colleagues say I come from the East, bringing cakes on a Friday. For them I’m like some mysterious gift bearing Arabian arriving out of the mist.

East highlands are waaaay better than the west highlands

Easter is better than Wester. Mainly because Wester is not A Thing.

The west end of my home town was a massive slum, it has now been demolished and covered with a 1970s shopping centre - definitely not the best part of town.

East and North Ipswich is considered rather better than West.
