Is the West side of anything always better? (lighthearted)

So i'm musing about life and suddenly it strikes me that a lot of 'west side' things seem to be better than the other parts.....or is it?

West Dundee is better than North and East Dundee
West of England is richer than the North (in term of prospects)
West facing gardens are better than North, east and South (more sunshine
The ‘West end’ is more exciting than other parts of London
The Western part of the world is more developed than other parts.
West London is richer than other parts of London
West Korea is better than North Korea
West Germany was better than East Germany
Western Zimbabwe hosts some of the countries best tourist attractions.

Please help prove or disprove my theory by adding on your own West's that are better than..(it can be the west of anything).

East Croydon is marginally better than West Croydon .

To be fair, East Beirut is better than West Croydon.

I vaguely remember something about this from industrial history class. Isn't it supposed to be something about the wind blowing West to East so the dirt from the city/factories gets blown eastwards? Or summit like that.

Yup.
West side of Sheffield is better. Was to do with prevailing winds blowing all the steel work smog form west to east!!! So the rich factory owners built their lovely houses on the west side (in Sheffield's case)

No way is the west midlands better than the east midlands! We have a coastline and the lovely peak district

The East coast in the US is far superior to the West coast. New York, DC, Portland, Boston, Miami, Disney!

Over to the West coast you've got San Francisco, LA, Washington, California (Yosemite), Lake Tahoe. Na! its the West coast by far.

I would say in the US the coasts generally are the best, nothing is as crap as the but in the middle

Portland is west coast!

I do go through West and East Croydon on the way to work (lucky me) and on this occasion East is definitely better than West.

Norfolk in the East of England is better than any other place to the West of it in the whole rest of England though. Fact.

More on the east coast of Australia than the west coast.
