I can believe how much more expensive it gets when they're in high school !
Today I purchased ( for 2 dc)
2 blazers
2 jumpers
2 PE tops
2 PE hoodies
The total was £1501

Also trousers, blouses , joggers, socks from TU including 25 off - £50

Two pairs of shoes ( black nike ) £90
That's £300 and I haven't even bought any stationary yet and the younger ones needs a new rucksack .
I miss primary school days .
Two Clark's shoes @ £30 each and everything else from Tesco , no blazers or ties and it was all generic :(

DD starts primary school in September and for some ridiculous reason the school insists on everything being logo'd. So 4 x logo polo shirts, 2 x logo jumpers, 2 x logo cardigans, 2 x logo pe tops, logo book bag, logo backpack Angry. Still need to buy trousers/skirts, tights, socks, shoes, trainers, rest of pe kit etc etc etc. It's come as a bit of a shock just how expensive it all is!

cjt110 · 20/08/2018 13:55

DS starts in Sept.

3 logo jumpers
3 logo tshirts
3 trousers
2 pairs of shoes
socks
pe top
pe shorts

Small bit of change out of £100

£240
Blazer
Trousers
4 shirts
2 pe tops
PE shorts
PE socks
Football boots

Still got astros to buy.

I was pleasantly surprised, expected to spend a lot more

iamjustlurking · 20/08/2018 14:10

I have just spent £156 for my 14 yr old On:
1 blazer
1 PE kit (shorts &top)
1 Rugby kit (shorts & top)
I had to drive 20 miles to the schools supplier!
I live in a big town no idea why somewhere local can't supply
I still have school shoes to purchase (mens size 12 !!)
It's astronomical I am a lone parent of 3

Takfujimoto · 20/08/2018 14:18

I have two to buy for and DS 10 has been growing like a bean all year including his feet so now needs adult sized shoes/trainers 😱
I buy the next size up to try and stretch just until Christmas holidays the year after but he's right on the edge of his current size so no can do!

Two still at primary @ £320 😳

Think I'm going to vacuum pack any good bits of uniform for DC3 (2) for the future, so awkward having boy, girl, boy especially with my age gaps, can't really save much from DS1 for DS2.

CherryChatsworth · 20/08/2018 14:19

Yours must be in private school surely bad teacher? 750 each on that ?

I've spent £300

1 blazer
4 trousers
8 shirts
4 jumpers
Rugby top
2 ties
P e shorts
P e top
Shoes
Trainers

TokyoSushi · 20/08/2018 14:21

£170 for x 2 primary aged children, one had shoes at the end of last term though and they both just needed topping up really rather than the full monty!

JacquesHammer · 20/08/2018 14:27

£128 for DD going into state grammar on official uniform.

£20 for a coat.

Bag still to get.

£15 a month for laptop.

NoLeslie · 20/08/2018 14:30

Average of £200 per child for PE kit, 6 shirts each, 2 trousers each and then whatever jumper/blazer needed. (2 kids at different high schools.)

Still need to get socks, bags, shoes etc.

Titsywoo · 20/08/2018 14:36

For DS I bought

Blazer
2 jumpers
6 shirts
2 sets games kit (normal and rugby)
Backpack
School shoes
Trainers
Rugby boots
Stationary
2 pairs of trousers being specially made as he is autistic and sensory needs means the standard ones won't work

For DD (less as she already has stuff)

2 jumpers
2 shirts
2 trousers
2 skirts
PE Kit
Backpack
School shoes
Trainers
Stationary

Total is about £650! It's just a standard comp too! We also need to get a laptop for DS due to his extra needs (luckily we might be able to get one free but still need to buy the MS Office Suite).

TheOnlyLivingMumInNewCross · 20/08/2018 14:39

DD is off yo secondary in September and I'm on a pretty tight budget at the moment.
Blazer, tie and school jumper- £20. All compulsory, bought from the parent forum for her school on Facebook. Ladies daughter was given our school then decided to go elsewhere so none of the items had been worn.
Shirts- Asda, yet to buy them but know they're reasonable.
Skirts- eBay, 5 Skirts for £17, 3 not worn and all originally from M&S so did rather well.
Shoes- eBay new but they are allowed plain black converse style pumps and these were £5.
Coat- Lidl Parker bought in advance in their sale for £4.50.
Stationary- all from eBay, all under £2.
PE Shorts: £5, Amazon
PE top: £8 compulsory with logo.

Just have her rucksack to go now, and she has her eye on a Primark one.
I think I've done well, but thank heavens for parent forums online as there have been lots of nearly new blazers all being offered for next to nothing or nothing at all. Luckily it's encouraged amongst the parents to grab bargains and not to spend lots on designer stuff.

EvilTwins · 20/08/2018 14:40

DTDs are going into yr 8. Most stuff is still ok from last year but they both needed skirts and blazers - skirts too small from last year and blazers took a battering. Spent £171 on two blazers and four skirts. 😡

Pibplob · 20/08/2018 14:41

Just bought footwear for my two. School shoes x 2, Clark’s plimsolls and football boots. £150 😳. I think this is because my eldest is now a size 5 and it’s adult size? Could this be the case? It was more expensive than it’s usually been.

littleducks · 20/08/2018 14:41

Could you link you the black nikes? Haven't done shoes yet

Sirzy · 20/08/2018 14:42

£10 for new school trousers.

£65 for new boots (can only we dm boots due to quirky feet)

The rest is still fine from last year so no point replacing

DrCoconut · 20/08/2018 14:49

Reusing shoes and PE kit. But going from infants to a primary so needs new jumpers and bag, and trousers and polo shirts from last year are wrecked. Probably spending about £30 in total as very little is logo'd.

MissCalamity · 20/08/2018 15:47

Just spent £72 for the logo'd stuff (2 DC)
Need to get shoes, I see Deichmenn has a bogof deal on school shoes at the moment, so going there in the week.
Already spent about £15 on plain polo shirts/pinafores.
Luckily DD doesn't need a pe kit until after Christmas (reception) but then I think it's only pumps & a bag needed at the moment.
We've just received a timely refund of £200 from our electricity provider, every little helps!! Grin

HighwayDragon1 · 20/08/2018 15:51

120

School shoes from Clark's outlet (24.39)
PE trainers Nike sports direct (£20)
Backpack Kangol sports direct (£10)
PE top x 2 from uniform shop(£4.50 each)
The rest on polo shirts, shirts, cardigans, dresses, skirts and oinifores. All from Sainsbury's or aldi

She's 8 and going into y4. Still need stationary but that'll be around a fiver

cpjoli · 20/08/2018 15:54

52.00 on blazer and tie from logo school shop.
30 in white shirts
45 on trousers as he's 6 foot and well built!
15 shoes

Just need bag and sports shorts.

The other ds was 45.00 from Tesco as his are all generic.

Taffeta · 20/08/2018 15:56

It makes a massive difference at secondary school if they can wear generic tops and bottoms eg

DS School he can wear generic trousers and shirt, we just buy blazer and tie (c.£45)

DD School everything is School specific and costs a small fortune. Summer dress £40, winter skirt £44, 2 x shirts £16, blazer £32 etc

Plus PE kit on top for both, which is School specific and £££

Both are at state grammars

badteacher · 20/08/2018 15:57

Not private school and not £700.
£300.

OP posts:
rightknockered · 20/08/2018 15:58

@ £700 so far. Two secondary uniforms, which can only be bought from a specific supplier, and shoes, P.E kits, trainers etc.
But it feels good to have done it all, just hope no-one grows too much.
But I have not bought football kits, will not be buying cricket kits until spring, and haven't spent much at all on primary school uniform, bought from Sainsburys.

rightknockered · 20/08/2018 15:59

Mine all go to state schools.

StorminaTCut · 20/08/2018 15:59

£0

Nothing wrong with Julys clothes. DDs shorts have an adustable waist, so I will move the button up. She will wear them with tights when it gets cold.

Her pinafores are still long enough too.

Her sweatshirts have the cuffs folded, so they will last.

She wears navy suede Pumas that still fit.
