I can believe how much more expensive it gets when they're in high school !
Today I purchased ( for 2 dc)
2 blazers
2 jumpers
2 PE tops
2 PE hoodies
The total was £1501

Also trousers, blouses , joggers, socks from TU including 25 off - £50

Two pairs of shoes ( black nike ) £90
That's £300 and I haven't even bought any stationary yet and the younger ones needs a new rucksack .
I miss primary school days .
Two Clark's shoes @ £30 each and everything else from Tesco , no blazers or ties and it was all generic :(

State primary school for two dc.

3 polos each.
3 jumpers or cardis each.
1 pe tshirt each.
3 pairs of knee socks for ds.

£150

Have yet to get 3xskirts and 3xtrousers, knee socks for dd, 2x pe shorts, winter coats x2, shoes x2 and pumps x2. So probably £250ish yet to spend??? Shock

BackInTime · 20/08/2018 17:07

I seem to get away with 3 shirts/ jumpers - one on, one in the wardrobe, one in the wash.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/08/2018 17:09

itbemay - thanks!

We have one of those new (£££) ones that only does steam so I think we're fucked on that front too

I'll do sharpie and see if they shout at me!

Mine was for 1 dd;

1 skirt (£36 gulp!)
1 blazer
4 blouses
1 pair sports socks
1 pe kit (shorts, tshirt and jumper)
School shoes

£192 😳

That doesn't even include socks, lunchbox, bag and stationery!

AuditAngel · 20/08/2018 17:19

DD1 starts s3condary, £283.50 in the school outfitters, that was one of everything except 2 ties and 2 sports socks.

No blouses as last year’s still ok, no blazer (£89) as I was kindly given a secondhand one for free (gave the donor a box of chocolates), no socks and tights, no shoes or trainers, no coat.

DS only needs school shoes, DD2 needs new skirts or tunics, plus shoes. He4 school are now insisting on only th3 school coat and bag, so that’s probably another £50

Oh, and all state schools.

AuditAngel · 20/08/2018 17:20

Oh, and stationery is all on top too.

stargirl1701 · 20/08/2018 17:22

I have no idea of the cost beyond the £70 shoes. I didn't keep a total. DD1 started P1 last week so we needed to buy everything. School requested a full change of uniform be left in the cloakroom. Free school lunch as we are in P1 and all P1-3 Scottish children get a free lunch so no packed lunch boxes to buy.

1 gingham playsuit (S/S)
1 pair of gingham shorts (S/S)
1 pair of school shorts (S/S)
1 school kilt
4 pairs of school trousers (A/W)
6 short sleeved shirts (S/S)
6 long sleeved shirts (A/W)
3 cardigans (logo)
4 pairs of tights
6 pairs of socks
6 pairs of pants
6 vests
1 pair of indoor shoes
1 pair of outdoor shoes

1 gym t-shirt (logo)
1 pair of gym shorts
1 pair of gym shoes
1 gym hoody (outdoor kit)
1 pair of gym jogging bottoms (outdoor kit)
1 gym bag

1 school bag
1 book bag (logo)
1 pac a mac (S/S)
1 school logo coat (A/W)
1 pair of wellies (to be kept in cloakroom)
1 pair of cosy welly socks (cloakroom)
1 pair of w/proof trousers (cloakroom)
1 sun hat
1 woolly hat
1 buff
1 pair of cosy gloves
1 pair of waterproof gloves
1 bag to store change of clothes
1 bag for wet/soiled clothes to come home

1 pencil case
Writing pencil
Coloured pencils
Coloured pens
Rubber
Ruler
Sharpener
Water bottle
Snack tub
Purse
Suncream
Lanyard for school bus pass

And, various labels - sewn in, ironed on and stuck on.

I counted the labels - 141 items labelled.

The iron on labels which I used on the pants and socks have come off after one wash. 😡

A staggering amount of things. I chose to have 5 full days of uniform and she has come home from her half days with mud on her uniform from playing.

Peaches39 · 20/08/2018 17:28

Dd going to year 4.had to buy replacement as she had outgrown her old uniform .
Blazer
2 shirts
1winer coat
1skirt
1 jumper
PE kit ( black leggings, games Skort, games socks, black shorts, white polo shirt, house polo shirt, track suit, thermal white top )
Swimming costume
All came to £324 ( all has to be bought from school shop Angry)
School shoes/ white trainers came to £87
So in all £411 for 1 dd

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 20/08/2018 17:29

Asda shop £27 which had
2x 5 pack of polos
2 packs of Pe tshirt
Cycling shorts

£22 shoes for DS
£17 sports shoes for DS
£20 backpack
£10 l.o.l lunch bag (dd)
£6 lunch box (DS)
£6 plimsolls from m&s
£7 purple and white school socks for dd

Rather cheap this year as all other stuff still fits....
Next year DS starts high school so will have to save for that 🙈

HighwayDragon1 · 20/08/2018 17:32

We buy bigger so this lot is also brand new. Last year we paid around £8 in September on polo shirts. Shoes replaced in October time, this uniform will last till y6

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 20/08/2018 17:41

DS1 is 12 but the size of Hagrid (but skinny) so his shoes were £70, his trousers (extra long length mens) £19 a pair (five pairs because he plays football each lunch time and gets all sorts of much all over him), 6 shirts for £40, two blazers at £45 a pop, a new bag from Hype £35, a new coat £70, new PE kit at £80, football/rugby boots £55 and general tat like pens, compass, maths bits, ties etc. I reckon it easily set me back £500.

DS2 is starting a new Junior school so his uniform was a ridiculous £290 from the school shop and M&S. I've yet to buy his shoes and the obligatory Smiggle shite but they'll probably hit the £150 mark between them. Essentially I work to clothe and shoe them, that's it.

Holymolynowayimagreeingwiththa · 20/08/2018 17:52

I must be doing it wrong. My 3 are in primary school but have to wear logoed.

6 logo cardigans / jumpers - £66
4 dresses - £36
4 summer dresses - £16
2 trousers - £14
12 polo shirts - £45
10 tights - £20
3 pairs of school shoes - £125
3 lunch boxes - £24
3 water bottles - £6

£352 so far and they only have 2 sets of uniform each.

Socks, pencil cases, pe kits, plimsolls and stationery still to go.

Growingboys · 20/08/2018 17:56

£470 to get DS ready for secondary, and I still have to buy socks and trainers for him.

Stupomax · 20/08/2018 18:06

Nothing. Yay.

Kittysacunt · 20/08/2018 18:13

1 primary aged DD

£152 - all has to be logo
3 x cardigans
3 x polos
3 x skirts
Pe kit & pe bag
Clark’s shoes as is a d/e on width

Still need coat, bag, lunch box & stationary Sad

knicksfan · 20/08/2018 18:15

Today I spent £10 on shoes by using a £30 m&s voucher

£30 on a bag
£9 on shirts
I'm not buying trousers as I bought new at the end of term.
Have yet to get sweatshirts

OrangeCarpet · 20/08/2018 18:19

About £50 total on 2DS at state primary. They have 4 sets of uniform. They get dirty every day and stay at their Dad’s one school night so can’t manage on less. No logos this year, all from supermarkets. They have some fleeces that still fit that have logos. Doesn’t include new shoes. I will do that in the autumn when the shops have restocked and are quieter.
The prices of the logo stuff quoted on this thread sound crazy. I just could not afford them. Why a state school would demand anything other than a logo jumper is beyond me.

BadHairDyeDay · 20/08/2018 18:53

I'm still having heart failure at your typo £1501!!!!

EwItsAHooman · 20/08/2018 20:29

Why a state school would demand anything other than a logo jumper is beyond me.

Their old school allowed generic uniform. You could buy an official logo jumper/polo shirt/cardigan from the school office but if wasn't compulsory and they allowed the generic high street stuff so long as it was school uniform, had no other logos (e.g., Nike), and was the right colour. I used to buy them an official school jumper each because they're nice to have and then a few blue v-neck knitted ones from Sainsbury's because they're basically going to cover the uniform in paint/marker pens/mud so why spend loads!?

New school. Generic school uniform jumpers aren't allowed and even if they were, good luck finding a high street shop that stocks those colours (sky blue for the younger ones, bottle green for the eldest). All jumpers/cardigans/PE tops/sports socks, etc must be from the official school supplier and must have both the school logo on them and the child's first and last name embroidered above it which buggers up any plans to hand them down.

On the plus side no stationary is needed because pencil cases are banned due to loads of Smiggle based dramas last term, all children are going to be issued with an Official School Pencil Case. The tone of voice the Head uses when talking about it lets you know that it's capitalised, I'm surprised he doesn't have a trumpet fanfare each time he says it. The OSPC will contain five Official School Pens (two each blue and black, one red), five Official School Pencils, one Official School Eraser, one Official School Ruler, and one Official School Calculator. Whoop dee doo Grin

Lunch boxes are to be as plain as possible, colours are permitted but no character merchandise and no Smiggle. Ditto backpacks. School shoes must be plain black leather or patent leather, no lights, no toggles or hidden toy compartments, and year five (age 9) onward must be slip on or lace up with no velcro (eldest gets an allowance for his under SN policy because he can't do laces).

Hair has to be best and tidy at all times. No non-standard colours, no shaved lines or patterns, no oversized bows or hairbands, and no shaved heads shorter than a number three guard. No nail varnish. No make up. One pair of stud earrings, ear lobes only.

The head teacher was new last September which is when a lot of this uniform policy was brought in, DC go to two different schools (first school and middle school) but they're run by the same management team to have the same executive head. A lot of it feels like a new manager trying to make their mark by imposing their own regime.

StorminaTCut · 20/08/2018 20:40

Stickins labels have lasted 12 months through the wash, if anyone is thinking about them, they have even stayed on lunchboxes & bottles through the dishwasher.

StorminaTCut · 20/08/2018 20:44

I spelt it wrong Blush

www.stikins.co.uk/about/clothing-labels/

I never woz any good at skool!
to busy on Brighton pier

haverhill · 20/08/2018 20:50

Don’t know the total yet but it’s eye-watering. The trousers were £30 and the tracksuit is about £60. Rugby shirt £40. Shock

Gileswithachainsaw · 20/08/2018 20:52

haver
Is that tracksuit made with unicorn hair?

Joggers and hoodies can be gotten in Tesco...

haverhill · 20/08/2018 20:54

It’s an independent school. DS was at a state primary so I am (probably naively) astonished by the cost of his new uniform.

BitchQueen90 · 20/08/2018 20:56

I have one DS about to go into Y1.

I have bought

4× jumpers with logos £7 each - £28
4× white polo necks £5 for a pack of 2 - £10
4× trousers £3 each - £12
Shoes (the most expensive part) £42
Wellies £10
8x socks £8

Then for PE
PE bag £7
Dark tracksuit £6
Shorts x2 £6
White t-shirts x2 £4

So £133 in total. The shoes are always the killer!

Every item apart from the shoes and logo jumpers were from George at Asda. Logos aren't technically required at his school but I think they look smarter. School provides all stationery and bookbags and he gets free school lunch.
