Neighbour drove across my garden!!!

Pez82 · 22/02/2017 13:03

Last night I came home to find a car parked just outside my house below my neighbour's windows - now, not only this isn't not a parking space but the neighbour has driven through 3 different front gardens to get there!!!! WTF??!! (There are deep tyre marks on the lawn as a result 😖)

I'm attaching an homemade diagram to show how ludicrous the situation is. The yellow square is the current car's position and the yellow line the path taken!!! The green lines show my property as well as the invisible boundary on my front lawn. The driveways on the picture are slanted and once all cars are parked in their respective driveways (like they were this morning), there is no way out!!!

I've left an angry note on the windscreen but as the car has been covered in tarpaulin it looks like it could be there for a while!

So what do I do??? Build a wall/fence so it can never get out?? 😬

barrier/planters in diy/building supply you get those concrete rings.
strategically placed and planted up...

Garnethair · 25/02/2017 14:46

Investing in a fence all round your garden sounds like an excellent step for peace of mind.

WelshMoth · 25/02/2017 15:15

Why cover a car that's taxed and MOT'd?

Bank job.
Robbery.
Hit and Run.

She's hiding it for a reason,

bloodyteenagers · 25/02/2017 15:21

I would buy some reclaimed bricks and build a wall on the path side. There's loads of tutorials on youtube how to do this, reclaimed are cheaper can pick up 100 for less than £80. Then plant some growing plants to cover your side of the wall. I would be tempted to paint the other side bright orange and bright purple.

bloodyteenagers · 25/02/2017 15:23

Her not having a license makes no sense. Anyone can unless its changed, own a car without driving the car or having a license. If she hasn't got a license and using this as the reason why it's there now, then she is admitting surely that she was driving it.

kwick · 25/02/2017 16:44

Massive mystery... will it ever be solved Hmm

MrsWembley · 26/02/2017 00:04

Thank-you.

Fence sounds like a good idea, as does ganging up with your neighbours to have a word with the landlord...

rainbowstardrops · 26/02/2017 08:14

I'd have been absolutely fuming at her attitude!!!! Cheeky bitch! Angry

insancerre · 26/02/2017 08:33

Wow
Some people are just weird

WelshMoth · 26/02/2017 15:47

I'd be logging it at least with the police non-emergency line. Drop her right in it. Tell them what happened and what she subsequently told you.

Megatherium · 26/02/2017 21:16

Pointless "logging" anything with the police. They will treat this as a purely civil issue.

kwick · 28/02/2017 10:17

Any update pez?

Pez82 · 28/02/2017 11:50

Well I nearly broke my back working on the raised flower bed at the weekend but it's looking good! It's not quite finished yet but I'll post pictures when done.
My friendly neighbour is also planting more shrubs in between our gardens and I'm planning to put a barrier on the street side too - but I won't do that until I'm re-doing my back garden fences in Spring (so the same builders can do it properly with concrete poles etc). That will definitely block all exits!

It definitely already looks more like a garden, just need the good weather so I can mow the lawn and plant more stuff!

I can see all the pictures too Grin

If the tyre marks do not go (sometimes they do not, isn't that right Tesco delivery man?) then ask your neighbour to pay for the new turf. Guess who paid for our new lawn!

kwick · 28/02/2017 12:41

Is the car still there pez?

Pez82 · 28/02/2017 13:11

Oh yes, still there and probably there for a while..
I was thinking of reporting the number plate to the police in case it's been involved in some sort of illegal activity but now I'm thinking I don't want to start a war with my neighbour...

Still very much annoys me to see a car outside my windows...

IhatchedaSnorlax · 28/02/2017 22:10

I can't believe it's still there - I'd be very tempted to get it towed!

rainbowstardrops · 28/02/2017 22:17

Personally, I would have contacted the police. It just seems odd that they went to that length to 'park' a car and then cover it with a tarpaulin.
Sounds well dodgy

WelshMoth · 28/02/2017 22:24

OP, surely the Police is the only way to go here?

As much as you've been cheered on for planting your flowers and planning your picket fences, you've all but succeeded in keeping the bloody eyesore there! Do you want to look at this car for months and months?! I wouldn't!

SoupDragon · 01/03/2017 08:13

I can't believe it's still there

They can't get it out can't they?

kwick · 01/03/2017 18:53

pez I am happy to contact police with an anonymous report of a dumped car? I understand concern about starting war with neighbours but think of all the hard graft you have put in to garden!!!
Do they own or rent? Any chance you can contact landlord?

Pez82 · 02/03/2017 17:33

Every day I want to call and then I run out of time. I'll try tomorrow...

OP posts:
Pez82 · 03/03/2017 10:12

All reported to the Police and they're going to do a quick check to see if the car has been involved in any incident of some sort

They also said it was illegal for her to drive across our gardens and that if she does it again they would send someone to talk to her Smile

Glad I finally did this!

OP posts:
dowhatnow · 03/03/2017 12:47

But if she does it again it will be to get the car out so no point. It will be too late.

kwick · 03/03/2017 18:19

pez yay!!! This is what I call progress Grin
