An interesting read, confirming what many of us probably suspect that the more we click on the SBoS the more it presents us with what it thinks we want more of.....which in turn, is argued, reinforces the views we hold about particular slebs. That because we can all be 'investigators' now the quality of what is put on social media is suspect. The worrying thought is that this is also the case for things that matter, not just the time wasting pastime of SBoS.
I wonder if we are meant to feel admonished by this 'retweet' - and not notice that much of what has been published has come from seemingly official PR and that most of us are too busy to be in Rhode Island, Suffolk, Rome etc and would not have known anything about the romance if it had not been 'flaunted' in front of us.
She rightly points out that print journalism in the past has also been guilty of fabrication - eg Hillsborough. But her dislike of stories without foundation spreading unchecked didn't prevent her from revisiting 'David Cameron and the pig's head'.
Possibly feeling that I've wasted enough time on Tayto (I'm half Irish so pleased to give Tayto a plug) but they have definitely got me through Brexit (and spilling white paint all over a carpet.) Not leaving this thread though - never
