The answer is: not very! Most of us liked drinking silly drinks and going to the rubbish night clubs, no pretension. But there were a few college ENTS officers who liked to try to be a bit cool (Kings College was very very coool) and invite proper artists rather than East 17 or the normal silly nonsense we had. I guess Dan had his Footlights rep as well.

My favourite ultimate uncool performance there was when they did Copacabana and Aisling ONeil (Martin ONeil the football manager's daughter) was Lola, complete with the plastic fruit hat. She tried to be cool after that, but it never worked..

No, the Bullingdon would be more like a dining society in Cambridge, but Oxford is much posher than Cambridge. These have their own physical premises, and one is sporting, the other social.

When I said clubs in my last post I meant your common crap cheesey nightclub you get in any student town, which was what I frequented.

Sorry, yes in that post I meant members clubs that have their own premises with a bar and food, where they hold parties.

Dining societies don't have their own premises and are usually college or sporting team based. They have outings and meet societies of the opposite sex at different colleges or restaurants for dinner...and then go to a crap nightclub.
