I'm so sad about this as I was so in love with Tom Hiddleston and this has ruined him for me! It just seems like such a cynical move to try to increase his fame. I watched something earlier today that made the point that he has never confirmed any relationship, never been 'papped' with a woman he was supposedly dating, always kept his private life away from the cameras. And then all of a sudden he's this shit at avoiding the paparazzi? Unlikely.

I wonder - given that if it is a PR stunt it doesn't seem to be going down all that well - how long they will keep this up?

Tom is presumably very wealthy himself. It's all a bit emasculating to see the stories of Taylor's jet, swanky car that he is now being paraded around in. Not Bond-like.

I love the thought of there being a hole in the kitchen floor I've just spent the last half hour looking at properties to rent in the West Village in case I suddenly become a famous popstar whose mansion is being refurbed. He didn't do stuff with boys at university. As I said, he's always been very eyes on the prize (nothing wrong with that) and I think at this stage he's desperate to move his career on, and TS can help.

I think it's quite a fine balancing act to be a promising young actor and to push over into proper star. Lots of male actors fall into this (usually, and unfairly, at an older age than actresses) and don't quite make it.

And I don't remember him being from a super smart background (I'm not from a smart background at all, so this is no judgment from me, I'm just answering some comments up thread). More upper middle class, like Eddie. He won't have made a huge huge amount from his acting to date, ie he really really wants this.
