Entry three should of course have read:
Percentage of miserable bastard exhusbands who are not prepared to have Unhappy Son live with them: 100% (and may he rot in hell)

LetUsPrey · 23/06/2012 08:36

Hurrah
Boo
BOOO
Hurrah
Hurrah for you, boo for me as I never have BC dreams. S'not fair.

Went to the cinema again today. This time I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.

How different can two visits to the cinema be?

I want to watch Frankenstein again but with BC as the Creature. After sitting through that dross this morning, I think it's the least I deserved

TheAddict · 23/06/2012 21:11

Blimey, Prey from the sublime to the ridiculous...

CaveMum · 23/06/2012 21:53

He was divine as the Creature, though I can't really compare as I've not seen JLM's creature. As I'm sure you can imagine, the opening scene definitely gets the blood pumping Wink

Having read the reviews from the original run, BC's creature seemed to be preferred.

LetUsPrey · 23/06/2012 22:55

From the teeny clips I've seen of BC as the Creature he does look awesome. Wonder if they'll ever do another round of NTLive shows?

CaveMum · 23/06/2012 23:25

It's worth reading the Sherlockology review to give you an idea of the differences.

LetUsPrey · 23/06/2012 23:45

Thanks CaveMum. I'll read that in the morning as I'm not supposed to be on my iPod in bed! JLM was amazing as the Creature though, which surprised me a little although I don't know why.

LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 14:12

I've read the review CaveMum, along with lots of others. I'm even more cross than before that I won't get to see the other version.

CaveMum · 24/06/2012 14:32

Is there definitely nowhere near you/near a friend or family you could "visit"? I know they're not showing certain versions on set dates, because I saw BC the same night you saw JLM. They are showing JLM's version here next month.

Whereabouts, ish, are you?

Hahahahahaha! That has really brightened up my weekend.

I'm off to re-check the schedules. [determined]

LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 17:42

There is one showing near me - same place as before - but it's this Thursday. However, DH goes to a specific class at his gym on a Thursday which he obviously missed last week. I don't imagine he'd be terribly happy if I asked him to miss this week's too. Don't think friend's willingness to go again would be a problem if she's not away with work. Hmm I might sound her out first and then try to "persuade" DH.

CaveMum · 24/06/2012 19:41

Go on your own! I did. That way you won't have to explain the "oooo" noises you'll make when you clap eyes on his thighs Wink

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 19:44

I am more than willing to go alone. However, friend is my cover story that she wants to see the film Blush.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 24/06/2012 20:27

Prey, can't you just tell DH you're meeting her there?

LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 20:39

Grin I think what I'll do is mention it to friend, then ask DH when he's in a good mood Wink. If friend doesn't want to go or can't make it, I can just say she's had to cancel at the last minute but I don't want to waste my ticket so will go on my own. Flipping heck, it's hard work being this pathetic!

Watch this, there'll be no tickets left!

megcleary · 24/06/2012 20:40

I am very lucky have been to see both versions at the cinema over the last two weeks. Am still turning over themes etc in my mind and really enjoyed them both. Benedict was stunning as the creature and JLM was very good as the Dr.
While the reversal was excellent the following week, Benedict did shade it acting wise for me.
The whole thing was mesmerising I was shocked at how sad I was at the end when the creature thought the Dr has died. The scene wiped me out.
All in all really great experience and has made me want to do more cultural stuff.

LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 21:12

In the bit before Frankenstein started they mentioned they'd be doing a showing of Othello. I'd like to see that.

Just heard back from friend who's not keen to go again quite so soon but is willing to assist in saying she wants to go. It's only for a film and I'd never put her in this position for anything "icky" IYSWIM.

Might suggest to DH I ask my sister to babysit for an hour until he gets back from the gym.

I am so not reading this back otherwise I'd have to slap myself Blush

CaveMum · 24/06/2012 21:21

Oh yes, Othello would be good. I quite fancied One Man Two Governers too.

I read in the week that BC wants to play Hamlet on stage in the next few years.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 22:12

Well bollocks. DH is all amenable, doesn't mind missing gym. I go on to the cinema app to book. Not there. Go through NT list of venues and access it that way. Click on BC as Creature for 28th. It's only on at about four cinemas, the nearest of which is about 20-25 miles away. Not my local one. Angry (at myself) and Sad.

It's not faaaaaaaaiiiiiirrrrrrr

CaveMum · 24/06/2012 22:15

Boooo! Can you drive over/get friend to drive? I know it adds more time onto the evening, but will be totally worth it.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 24/06/2012 22:21

Friend not going. Not a clue where other cinema is. not a confident driver, hate going places I don't know in the day never mind at night which I know sounds pathetic but there you go

Next nearest is 80 odd miles.

Oh well, it's not to be. Benedict I need consoling.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 25/06/2012 09:52

Re Frankenstein, I think the four lead roles (so to speak) go in this order, from best to least best:

BC's Creature
BC's Victor

JLM's Creature

JLM's Victor

BC is simply in a different league as an actor. I could expand, but I've bored on about shared my views on this so many times, on so many forums, that I have thoroughly bored myself, let alone innocent bystanders Grin
