Frankenstein tonight!

Had a dream last night where I had to go somewhere quite far away first and got stuck and therefore missed the film.

CaveMum · 21/06/2012 10:31

Frankenstein tonight here too Grin

Helloooooo! Sorry for the long absence.

Thanks for the new thread, CaveMum!

I feel like I'm always the one to pour cold water (partly why I've been staying away, tbh), but I didn't like his outfit or his appearance at the Spencer Hart show AT ALL. He looked uncomfortable and self-conscious, which unfortunately made him look a bit stiff and pompous (I KNOW he's not really! And stop sniggering about 'stiff' Grin).

I was disappointed by the dressing gown ? I wanted to see him in suits ? but suspect they did that on purpose to confound those of us who were expecting to see him in a three-piece.

Sorry ...

On a positive note, I saw Frankenstein this week, with BC as the Creature (going to see him as Victor on Mon). PACKED cinema (I was expecting it to be me, two other people and a dog). Christ, he was good. It brought back all the memories and feelings from the live production. His voice work alone is worth the ticket price IMO.

Thanks for all the pics everyone. Especially those ones of him in the mirror with his braces on ...

I know what you mean about the Spencer Hart show LadyClarice. I thought he looked quite uncomfortable and stiff . Perhaps I'd need to see the outfit in person to properly assess it. Grin

I suppose the Frankenstein thing might appear on YouTube at some stage, although in a slightly less than strictly legal capacity. I might check the dates and venues again for BC as the Creature and try to work something out, though it's highly unlikely.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 21/06/2012 12:49

I'm going to cry. The nearest place showing Frankenstein is 6 hours away. Please god, let them release a DVD. I know they're not planning it now, but still.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 21/06/2012 12:50

And thank you, Prey for that link. It made the discovery about the cinema thing a little easier to take.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 21/06/2012 12:53

I just did a double-take on this one. He looks so much like Michael C. Hall on Dexter, it's frightening. (But he's not bad either. Not quite as versatile as BC, but we can't have everything, can we?)

I went to see Frankenstein a few days ago, the version with BC as Victor. I was surprised to see that there were actually some men in the audience - though it was definitely majority female. Maybe the one where BC gets his kit off plays the creature would have been even more popular?

LetUsPrey · 21/06/2012 19:15

Leaving soon need to keep it down a bit or friend will be all eye-rolly Grin

But still

CaveMum · 21/06/2012 19:24

Sat in cinema waiting for the start at 7.30. There are two Japanese girls sat in front of me taking pictures of the blank screen and each other holding their tickets Hmm

Place is pretty empty though, no more than 50 people in here at the moment and I reckon it holds 300 or so.

CaveMum · 21/06/2012 22:12

Just got home. Wow! What an amazing performance, from all of them. Shame about the loincloth Wink

Everyone in the theatre clapped at the end and the two Japanese girls got carried away and clapped again when BC came out for his bow Grin

A pretty mixed demographic, more older couples than young girls, and only about half full, which surprised me.

What did you think Prey?

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 21/06/2012 23:09

Back home and sitting down with a Brew. Cinema was probably a third to half full.

It was absolutely astonishing. Just brilliant. Performances of both BC and JLM were fantastic. In fact, the whole thing: the writing, the sets, the music - oh wow, the music - everything was amazing.

Friend actually said she wouldn't mind seeing it again with BC as the Creature to see what each actor could do in the other role IYSWIM. No chance of that happening sadly.

I, er, quite liked how sweaty BC got. Liked it quite a lot in fact. Grin

I love that blog so much.

And he should definitely wear the brown jumper again Smile

exexpat · 22/06/2012 09:11

Anyone anywhere near Cheltenham next month? BC will be reading war poetry. I'm normally less than an hour away - but will be hundreds of miles away that week. Damn.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 22/06/2012 09:59

Well, I'm in London. A mere hop, skip and jump away, no?

No?

Grin
exexpat · 22/06/2012 10:06

A short train ride away. And you never know - someone else might be coming from London by train... Maybe go first class, just in case?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 22/06/2012 10:10

Yes, because after all I am made of money. Grin

I haven't just been on the Trainline and looked at prices and times, oh no sirree

LetUsPrey · 22/06/2012 21:13

Arf at LadyClarice checking train details. I mean, not checking Grin

I know smoking is not good (bit not good Grin) but I've just been deafened by the sound of my principles crashing to the floor
