GrinGrin (That second Grin was an echo) DH is right next to me but just thought I'd say hello.

Just watching Great British Bake Off. Will drool over peruse Tumblr later for a BC fix.

LetUsPrey · 02/10/2012 23:56

Just throwing a few links in:

Cuddling a bust Grin

I could just bite his lips

Oh my

Just phwoar

FrankelSaysRelax · 03/10/2012 08:13

I read in Twitter that there is a rumour BC is in talks to play Julian Assange in a tv drama. We're going to end up with another Atonement problem aren't we (horrible character but can't help thinking "phwoar").

To ease the guilt, taken at a birthday party in .London last night.

Anyone managed to get tickets for the Cheltenham Literary thing tonight?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 03/10/2012 09:24

I hope that's not true!

Is there a bit of a trend of him being considered for/interested in playing people who are really odious? (see also Hugh Hefner).

Maybe he's interested in the challenge of bringing out the humanity in even quite extreme cases, but Assange in particular troubles me.

FrankelSaysRelax · 03/10/2012 09:54

I suspect you are right .Clarice. I also imagine that he likes, understandably from an acting point of view, the "challenging" roles. He seems to be on a mission to avoid being typecast, playing wildly varying roles and, some of them, pretty unpalatable. A little like Dominic West playing Fred West and Andy Serkis Ian Brady.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 03/10/2012 10:34

I suspect that he's also seen as a go-to actor for ambivalent or plain dislikeable characters (so, ironically, is subject to typecasting, in a way). Sherlock after all is not a particularly 'nice' person, his character in Third Star was not a simple 'good person dying young' cliche, and that's without the Starter For Ten chap and of course Mr Atonement.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 03/10/2012 16:53

I see this and instantly think of the dog Doug from "Up" upon hearing the word "squirrel"!

And I think this one got it right on the nosey...

LetUsPrey · 05/10/2012 15:24

Yes, hopefully re the Assange (bleurgh) thing it's just a case that he's getting linked with more or less everything now that's high profile.

Anyway, I've been ill in bed since yesterday evening so Batch me up.

LetUsPrey · 06/10/2012 23:39

Helloooooooooo - where'd everyone go?

Anyway, twitter feed of Radio Times' Ben Preston at Cheltenham. BC for Hamlet? Squeeeeee!

FrankelSaysRelax · 07/10/2012 17:34

I'm here! I've been away for the weekend at a family wedding. How are we all?

LetUsPrey · 07/10/2012 18:04

Speaking for myself, I have been trying to contain my Envy at the pictures on Tumblr of people seeing/meeting BC at Cheltenham yesterday. This has not been working.

To counteract it a little, I have been watching Wreckers. Would you believe I got about five minutes from the end when DH came home with the DC, so not quite finished it. Good film and BC is ossom as per!

Watched Strictly.

Loving the hair

How've you been?

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 07/10/2012 20:33

Evening all,

It's the autumn school break here, so for the next two weeks, I have DS1 home. Wouldn't want to have him telling DH that Mommy spends most mornings ogling The Batch. Have loved looking at all the Cheltenham photos. Very envious, indeed. So happy for Cumberbuddy that she had such a lovely time and even got a hug (and some delightfully foul language in her ear).

Wasn't able to watch or record Wreckers (on too late for Central European Time), but did receive notice from Amazon yesterday that my copy of PE was on its way. If Amazon is correct (and I am very lucky), it will arrive the day before I leave to go on holiday with the family and inlaws. (Dear God, if you do exist, please let it get here on time, because five days with my FiL must be its own circle in Dante's Inferno.) He is a dear man, but he is a teacher, and suffers from KnowItAll-itis. Travelling with him is like travelling with an extra child -- opinions on everything and does nothing but perhaps wipe his own behind (OK, so he's one step ahead of DS2). So please, Gods of Transit, let me be able to tuck a small portion of heaven into my carryon bag. Thank you.

Am off to self-medicate with some plum cake I baked yesterday. Would have wine, but am nursing the sniffles. :(

FrankelSaysRelax · 08/10/2012 08:15

Morning all.

BC had a boys night in with James Rhodes (composer for Sherlock I believe) last night.

Apparently he turned up with this cake, with the slice already missing Grin. I love the idea of him stuffing his face in the taxi on the way over Grin Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 12:10

He's talked before about wanting to play Hamlet, but has elsewhere said he can't afford the time to do a stage play as it would take him away from looking for screen work for several months, and that's what he's prioritising now.

Then again, some time ago he said he felt as though Hamlet was a bit of a well-trodden path, what with David Tennant, Rory Kinnear, Jude Law etc all having had a go, and that he was more interested in Richard II.

I do wonder, reading his later comments about playing Hamlet, if he's just changed his tune because he's been told that he's now too old for Richard II!

[bitch]

I do love him really, y'all know that. Smile

FrankelSaysRelax · 09/10/2012 08:16

Ah, there's nothing like waking up in the morning to see you have an email from Benedict Cumberbatch Grin

"I am stunned!! I can't thank you enough for your generosity. In addition to the brilliant online donations those of you at the festival who contributed a donation added another £1,406.24. I can't thank you enough each and every one of you. I could do another 45 miles with all this support. Thank you. I'm deeply touched. It's an amazing thing we are doing and at risk of sounding cheeky... PASS IT ON!! Let more people know about the charity, (go to www.princes-trust.org.uk/) and what I'm doing to try and raise money and pass them the links to this page to donate. It would be great to reach the target. I'm donating the fee I got for Cheltenham and that'll help but take a look at this charity and you'll see why it deserves all we can give it. www.princes-trust.org.uk/
You have been so generous with your pockets, now be generous with a bit more of your time and I promise you it will be worth it. If we go over the target in the next two days I will, tart that i am, share some photos with you of me in training in my fetching cycling gear!
But seriously... I want to try and raise as much as possible. We really are making a difference. Massive thanks and love to you all. Benedict x"

LetUsPrey · 09/10/2012 08:25

I'd like to wake up to a note on the pillow next to me that says "Last night was amazing. I'll see you later for dinner and then more of last night. Love you. Benedict xxxxx" He can put more detail in it if he wants Wink

Yours was good though Frankel Grin

FrankelSaysRelax · 09/10/2012 08:31

Grin @ Prey

He knows how to work his audience, offering photos of himself in cycling gear - tart indeed! It works though, the donations have shot up by at least £2,000 in the last day or two so he's only £1,802 short of the £10,000 target.

FrankelSaysRelax · 09/10/2012 08:33

WAYWB is on the case already Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/10/2012 09:39

'tart that I am'. Grin

He funny. And lovely.

[gooey girly emoticon]

FrankelSaysRelax · 09/10/2012 10:39

Yay, donations now top £12,000!

[awaits Lycra clad photos]

[faints at thought of tight fitting shorts]

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 09/10/2012 16:06

YAY! Parade's End came today! I almost kissed the postman. (Almost.)

Am also over the moon at the prospect of seeing pictures of him in those tight biking shorts. I know we've all seen his backside in TTE and TTEE, but somehow the idea of that bum wrapped in Lycra...don't they often say it's more what you don't see than what you actually see?

I started watching some video taken at Cheltenham. My god, I am reduced to a fangirling mess. I think half my underwear drawer vaporised in the few minutes I was able to watch before my kids started killing each other. It's probably a good thing that there is a huge body of water and a few countries between him and me, or else I would have some serious explaining to do to DH.

LetUsPrey · 09/10/2012 20:20

Hurrah for the safe and timely arrival of Parade's End!

Do you think he'll wear one of the cycling onesies a la Sir Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins? You know, the ones that unzip at the neck and have quite a low, open neck when unfastened? I seem to be feeling a bit warm ...

I've donated to BC's Palace to Palace bike ride for The Prince's Trust. So, that's the birthday Teenage Cancer Trust and the Palace to Palace bike ride. To be honest, I think that merits more than an email by way of a thank you. I'd say a personal visit at the very least. Mmhmm, very personal GrinWink
