Must just confirm that the bit about Minimus leaving home for 23 minutes is true: that's how long the relationship with that particular girlfriend lasted once he'd moved in.

He's definitely improving in the relationship stakes. Some of his earlier attempts lasted nearly long enough for him to get his face slapped.

See now I like to think I'd meet BC and have an interesting, genuine conversation with him and he'd be won over by my intelligence, sparkling wit and amazing good looks. In reality (if sober) I'd probably be fairly lost for words or (if very a bit drunk) probably just say something like "I so want to have sex with you" and make an absolute arse of myself.

Although I do, in fact, want to have sex with him. Lots of sex.

Oh oh oh - totally OT, but have to share the news: I'm going to be a mum-in-law!!

Addictus Primus has finally decided that he and his long-term boyfriend are getting married next year (they prefer the word 'marriage' to 'civil partnership'). Unfortunately they haven't broken the news yet to his Significant Other's family - in fact I rather gather Significant Other's family don't know he was in the closet in the first place, never mind come out of it.
Best of luck to them with that.

finished - hic... DVD watched ... news obviously broken to Significent Other's family, as have had Strange Phone Conversation with SO's mother in which she (a) virtually accused Primus of seducing her ewe lamb (who is 6'5", plays rugby and built like the proveribial brick shit-house (b) intimated that she Wasn't Surprised about Primus (who is 5'7", a fragile waif and lectures in performing arts - think it was the job that made her mind up) (c) enquired whether the fathers of all my children would be at the ceremony (as between the four of them they have 3 fathers and 2 mothers and I haven't seen Primus's father since before he was born, highly unlikely) and (d) asked whether she was supposed to be the mother of the bride or the mother of the groom.
Might go for the Teletubby hat - it could shame Minimus so much that he won't go. A blessing on all our houses. Alternatively may suggest seating plan so that Minimus sits by her during the meal, thus ensuring she never speaks to me again.

And yet she managed to produce a son who is obviously wonderful enough for your A Primis. The mystery of genetics. Odd woman.

I have watched the rest of that interview. Upside is that should I ever have a conversation with BC, I would seem like Jeremy Paxman in comparison to the woman in that clip.

NB: I have a feeling that Primus's prospective MiL-from-hell has no idea quite how dysfunctional a family her ewe lamb is marrying into. Must remind Minimus when/if he meets her to show her his collection of tattoos.

Last night was the PBS Q&A with the Sherlock team in New York. There re some fab photos of BC on Cucmberbatchweb (my uterus actually did a back flip at one of them). I think there will be video available later.

Just to set the record straight about the number of parents my sons have:
Primus is the much-loved result of a brief affair I had in my student days: he and I spent a lot of his formative years in rehearsal rooms and concert halls before I decided to grow up and get a real job. I say that this is why he is the artistic one; he is fond of telling people that his Bohemian infancy made him the woman he is today. We love each other to bits and I wouldn't put it past him to get married in white lace just out of badness.
Secundus's Dad and I were married: he's the changling of the family - just finishing a science degree (none of the rest of us are practical); lives at the moment away from home but moving back after graduation. Shares student accomodation with Tertius.
Tertius is six months younger than Secundus and came to me as a temporary foster-child when he was just under a year old. Why I was regarded as a suitable foster-mum I have no idea. That was just over 20 years ago - he's been with us ever since. The intellectual of the family, just finishing a degree in English Lit. Has changed his name to ours (wasn't that sweet of him!) - he and Secundus are very close and I think they regard themselves as twins. Will also be moving back to the nest.
Minimus is Secundus's full brother: under the acne, tattoos and general filth, I pray that there is a human being that will emerge one of these days. Has more brains than the rest of us put together, but in an Awkward Phase, and has been since he was born. The Lothario of the neighbourhood - a sort of humanoid tomcat - he appears to be allergic to soap and water. Is at local college and, in his own words "doin' brickwork, i'n I?"
None of them are any relation to OH.

Oh my life! Those photos! I haven't had time to look at them all and I'm on teeny screen so I think I'll be putting the laptop on tonight.

All I can say is, I totally would.
