I have voted!

Forgot to say yesterday CaveMum, I listened to some Casanova in the car on the way home. Would you believe I got home just at the point where Casanova has been eating and drinking with the two sisters and then things start to move on. I couldn't sit in the car and listen to the rest of it because DH and DS2 spotted me and were shouting to me.

Looking forward to today's journey home x 464839575. Grin

Just had a thought about this documentary, sadly not yet aired and seemingly shelved; I wonder if they're thinking about airing it this summer to coincide with the repeat showings of Frankenstein in cinemas?
Or, if not, if they could be persuaded to air it ...?

Stiff-email-generator. There's a joke there somewhere.

BC PROGRAMME ALERT

To The Ends Of The Earth is being shown on TCM (Sky ch 317) on Tuesday 3rd April at 9pm. It's part one of three. I've already set it to record on series link. It's also on TCM+1 (ch 318) from 10pm on Tuesday.

CaveMum · 30/03/2012 19:38

Booo! I don't have Sky Sad

LetUsPrey · 30/03/2012 23:37

Aww CaveMum if you were in NW England, you could come and watch it with me.

Anyway, I have been out to my friend's house tonight and I am very slightly drunk so night night.

CaveMum · 31/03/2012 21:32

Where did you all go? Don't tell me you're all out having a life??!

Perhaps this will tempt you out of hiding Wink

LetUsPrey · 31/03/2012 21:43

A life? What's that? I've been popping in and out of the thread all day but didn't want to post in a row again and show up myself as sadder than ever. Again.

Listened to Casanova yesterday. Still got lots left.

Can't click on the link as I'm on the pc and DH is liable to walk in as soon as I click. Smile

LetUsPrey · 31/03/2012 21:47

I cheated and used my iPod to look at the link! I could just bite those lips - gently of course. Grin

CaveMum · 31/03/2012 21:55

I've listened to Casanova right through once, but as I tend to listen in bed I often fall asleep and can't quite remember where I got to so have probably missed bits.

I have the book too, and having read part of it there is quite a bit missing from the BC version. I'll say one thing, Casanova does come across quite well. He doesn't seem to be shagging around for the sake of it, more that he genuinely enjoyed women (and men), and sex! Now if he'd looked like BC too .....

LetUsPrey · 31/03/2012 22:45

Would you believe it but I didn't realise that there are four episodes to the audiobook? I thought it was just the one thing lasting about an hour. Imagine my delight when I discovered that there are another three!

And coincidentally I was on the same photoshoot page as you CaveMum and take the opportunity to re-re-re-post this

SurferRosa · 01/04/2012 10:07

Well those two pictures have certainly tempted me out.
Any takers on this old favourite? www.flicksandbits.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/benedict-cumberbatch-smaug.jpg

SurferRosa · 01/04/2012 10:17

Sorry for repeating that one again (not that it ever gets old).

Does this make up for it? www.listal.com/viewimage/3078974

LetUsPrey · 01/04/2012 13:07

SurferRosa - that first picture can be posted over and over and over as far as I'm concerned, but thanks for posting the second one too anyway!

LetUsPrey · 01/04/2012 19:07

Question for you CaveMum - which edition/version of Casanova do you have? If it's an actual book, is it the Peguin edition? I can download it for free on iBooks or Kindle but it's the memoirs in about a bajillion volumes. Take into account I'd be reading it on an iPod Touch and I think I'd end up with RSI from "turning" the pages.

Think I might go for the Penguin edition.

See how this obsession interest in BC is expanding my horizons? Radio 4, literary documentaries, historical literature ... where will it end.

I'm gonna be like dead clever me.

CaveMum · 01/04/2012 20:06

Prey, I have the Penguin Classics version of "The Story of My Life". It's about 500 pages long. I also have the BBC version with David Tennant on DVD, it's very good and definitely worth a watch.

As an aside, has anyone managed to catch the new Google+ advert? I only caught the last few seconds of it yesterday and it doesn't seem to be up on YouTube. A big surprise considering BC is narrating it!

LetUsPrey · 01/04/2012 20:25

Thanks CaveMum. I'll order the Penguin edition.

Google+ ad you say? Back in a bit.

CaveMum · 01/04/2012 20:29

I know I haven't imagined it. Here!!!

I just can't find the advert anywhere!

LetUsPrey · 01/04/2012 20:41

It's on this page but it did take a while to load on my pc, but that's probably because my pc is crap and slow.

LetUsPrey · 01/04/2012 20:46

And .

Can't even pretend to understand Google+. Joined it when it first appeared last year (was it?) and never did anything with it. Mind you, I struggle with Facebook. Hmm

CaveMum · 01/04/2012 20:46

Well found Prey Grin

[sighs contentedly]

TheAddict · 02/04/2012 08:52

Oh gosh, did anyone else go weak at the knees at
"And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow." ??

BC is certainly good for brain-expanding - I've listened to 'Metamorphosis' at least half a dozen times, and I loathe the book!

LetUsPrey · 02/04/2012 12:42

Casanova on the way home for me today. I can listen with the windows up now that the weather is cooler! Roll on 5pm for my BC aural fix. Wink

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 02/04/2012 13:25

So I emailed Channel 4 like a loser to ask about the Frankenstein doc, and a nice man replied today:

'Dear LadyClarice

We appreciate your interest in this documentary, there are plans to broadcast it later in the year. However, at this time the exact date has not been added to our schedule, as this is only published two weeks in advance.
