Benedict Cumberbatch Appreciation Society: those eyes, those cheekbones, THAT voice!

Seeing as the Sherlock discussions are dying down I thoguth I'd start a new thread for all the BC fans out there - judging by the number of MNers with him on their "List", he surely deserves his own thread.

So here it is: a place to share videos, pictures, articles and whatever else you want. The only thing I'll say is that I'd appreciate it if no one posted a link to the video(s) of BC dancing at a wedding. Apparently it was stolen from his ex girlfriend and is the cause of much upset. So lets be respectful. Otherwise, anything goes Grin

I'll get us started with some personal favourites:

- pay close attention to the wink @ 0.42 and his whip action @ 0.51 Grin

And finally some gratuitous , with my personal favourite the black and white shot featured at 2.53 [drools]

Share/comment away Grin

Oooh, can I do it CaveMum? I'll try my very bestest to come up with a good title.

CaveMum · 13/02/2012 22:02

Course you can! As much as I hate to admit it, I have no rights over BC Grin.

We've got a few days worth of posts left in this thread so that'll give you the chance to think up something witty [no pressure] Wink

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 13/02/2012 22:14

Pooshits. No-one said anything about witty.

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/02/2012 07:33

Ooh looking forward to the new thread, a thousand more posts of BC loveliness.

IAmSherlocked · 14/02/2012 10:37

Ahem.

Happy Valentine's Day one and all - and do you know what arrived in the post today of all days?

Only my blimmin' signed photo of him! Not real signed, obviously, fake signed but still a gorgeous pic. This one but cropped just below the shoulders.

Oh, and also my Sherlock soundtrack. DH is being wonderfully tolerant - not sure how long it'll last Grin

Hmmm - new thread title. Are we keeping Benedict Cumberbatch Appreciation Society? I think we should. So, something like: BCAS (not typing it all put again): We Are Sherlocked. Or BCAS: Beam Us Up Benedict!

CaveMum · 14/02/2012 11:05

Oh yes, we probably should keep the "BCAS" (in full) in the title do other fellow BC stalkers admirers can locate us easily Wink

[ponders having a BCAS badge made]

Grin

This is a sweet article. It's a bit old (for us) as it refers to not giving away clues about The Final Problem, but it hasnt aired in Australia yet.

I love how he gets all fanboy about Sir Ian McKellen seeing his Hobbit audition Grin. And the picture at the top is pretty hot Wink

I'd like to keep BCAS in the title too - straighforward, even I couldn't miss it! Other half is exactly the same height as BC. I must have a thing about tall men.

(Yes that's my way of working in a reference to tolerant partner, to allay the slight guilt of posting here on Valentine's Day!)

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/02/2012 11:54

I wonder what BC will be doing today? (feel free to come and see me Wink)

Envy of the signed photo, even if the sig is fake the pic is still hot!

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2012 12:39

If I get to start the next thread, I promise to keep Benedict Cumberbatch Appreciation Society in the title.

I have the cover shot from The Times Magazine Christmas Eve edition taped to my pc monitor at work. Gets me through the day. Although if things carry on like this at work, a picture is not going to be nearly enough.

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/02/2012 12:50

After telling all our fantasy scenarios I wonder what we'd actually do if BC walked through the door right now. I think I'd be a combination of speechless and wanting to literally shag him on the spot.

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2012 12:54

I like to think I'd be calm and charming and irresistible to him, and make interesting and witty conversation for the afternoon. Then find a hotel and shag each other's brains out.

In all likelihood, I would turn into a grinning, gibbering fool incapable of coherent conversation. I'd still try for a shag though.

CaveMum · 14/02/2012 13:20

Thankfully I'm not much of a gibberer! I'm more the "go bright red and stand in shocked silence" type Grin

I'd like to think I'd be all cool and "How nice to meet you Mr Cumberbatch." but reality begs to differ!

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 14/02/2012 13:27

I had a conversation planned in my head when I met Steve Backshall last year. When it came to physically being that close to him though, my brain froze and I could only manage a rushed "thank you very much, really appreciate it" (he signed DS1's book). I did remember to stick my hand out for a handshake though (he was sitting down). He has a very firm handshake.

IAmSherlocked · 14/02/2012 16:01

There wouldn't be much chatting in that scenario, LetUsPrey! Not when I meet them in my head, anyway Grin

We took DS to one of those Live and Deadly roadshows last year, and on the way there, I was telling DS 'Now don't get your hopes up, the chances of actually meeting Steve are really slim' - but we were in the right place at the right time and DS was actually on TV for a few seconds answering a question from Steve about a gecko Grin And I have about a billion photos. DH was a bit Hmm and I was 'DS will love to have lots of photos of Steve!' Grin

Oh, to meet BC...

Fluffymonster · 14/02/2012 16:26

Let's bump up the voting in this radio times poll!

Who is your TV Valentine? Grin

Fluffymonster · 14/02/2012 16:32

Wow he's just shot to first place in the last 10mins lol

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/02/2012 16:49

I voted Grin looks like we're not the only ones who love him!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 14/02/2012 16:50

Job done...though I may have snuck a vote in for the Borgen lead as well Grin

SurferRosa · 14/02/2012 17:49

Another vote here - he's certainly popular isn't he?

IAmSherlocked · 14/02/2012 18:40

Voted - he is even eclipsing Mr. Tennant! The Cumberbatch phenomenon is clearly not confined to this thread!

Grin
LetUsPrey · 14/02/2012 18:42

Added my vote. He's got nearly half the total vote so far.

IAmSherlocked - not much chatting in my scenarios either Grin. Well, there's talking but not chatting. If you see what I mean Wink.

CaveMum · 14/02/2012 18:44

His votes have jumped because Cumberbatchweb tweeted about the poll. They have 14,000 followers, so it's safe to say they've had a bit of an influence Wink

Only 50 or so posts left Prey, I hope you've got your thinking cap on!

OP posts:
IAmSherlocked · 14/02/2012 18:51

Yes - no pressure, LetUsPrey - all you have to do is pick a great name for the next 1,000 posts.

Mind you, some of the Twilight ones have been a bit Hmm. We need to be classy to reflect the fact that he's, like, a trained actor who has had, like, actual training

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2012 18:56

Oh feck. Right, so it needs to include BCAS (in full) and a reference to one of his films/tv programmes. If you're expecting witty, I think you'll be disappointed.
