::Blubs::

I haven't heard that song before.

::Sniffs::

I am fine, thank you, Spiro. Just back from Christmas shopping in France with The Bloke the world canasta championships with Mr Thornton.

::strums slightly out-of-tune ukulele and returns dog-eared copy of Plato to the bookshelf::

What have I missed?

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 22:22

Maudie! Welcome back. i take it you have been sojourning in la belle France again. Avec Monsieur Thornton, bien sur

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 22:26

How lovely, Maudie. Did you hvae a good time? My parents were there on Friday and bought us sacklaods of wine but I didn't join them this time.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 04/12/2011 22:26

It was the letters that set me off.

WeWishYouAMerryGizzymas · 04/12/2011 22:27

Twigs, I suspect it's slightly self inflicted as I haven't been to bed before 2am either night this weekend and have been ver ver drunk both nights too and MasterD2 has been up at his usual early hour. I rarely catch any of the bugs the MiniDs bring home so when I do it's always the really nasty ones!

::passes over mug of hot lemon and honey and box of tissues::

IWantSantasNewToyInMyStocking · 04/12/2011 22:31

I can't keep up with everyone Confused, think I'll go to bed and start again tomorrow!

WeWishYouAMerryGizzymas · 04/12/2011 22:31

Sorry XMassive, I forgot to thank you for calling the doctor.

Lovely Gareth, Maud - it's his own particular brand of magic, guaranteed to reduce anyone in the vicinity to a blubbering mess.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/12/2011 22:33

Yes, I had a lovely time, although I had to do a ladylike snort into my starched linen napkin when one of the choices on the menu was salmon and couscous.

But my cold and cough have got worse so I must go to bed.

::Wonders where she left the poultice ingredients and whether Mr Thornton has warm hands::

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 22:35

Bitey knight then to all that's going!

And get well soon to the invalids.

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 22:36

Good Lord Maud, is this still the same cough that you've been struggling with for a few weeks now?! Poor you, you are suffering with this one, aren't you?

Your dinner sounds lovely, at the couscous :) Do you know where we eat when I got with the parents? Flunch :) But we always have a lovely picnic at the beach with gorgeous salady, cheesy, hammy, bready, fizzy winey goodness.

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 22:36

When I go with the parents.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 22:38

A bit chilly for picnics at this time of year, i should imagine, Twigs Smile

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/12/2011 22:45

::Looks back::

::Coughs pathetically, in manner of Little Nell::

Yes, it's the cough that I've had for roughly a month and, although it's got more manageable, I still haven't managed to shift it.

I think we went to Flunch once, because it was attached to a hypermarket. I remember it as being quite nice, and an awful lot better than anything you'd get in Sainsbo's cafe. We actually had more of a gourmet experience this time than usual, as the hotel and the place we had lunch today were both in various foodie guides, but we have promised ourselves that one day we will go to Buffalo Grill.

::Note for people who don't spend much time in France: Buffalo Grill is a chain restaurant which is always located on an industrial estate next to the hypermarket and car-wash and whose logo is a 20 foot pair of buffalo horns mounted on the roof::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/12/2011 22:48

Et voici le Buffalo Grill

Good night, all!

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 22:49

BG sounds very tasteful, Maudie. The sort of place Desperate Dan would entertain his friends to a spot of cow pie.

Poor you, about your cough

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 04/12/2011 22:50

Sounds classy Maud!

Are you taking anything for the cough or is it one of those that has to run it course (blah blah blah grrr!). I know I had one that went on for weeks and they told me the infection had cleared up but had left the lining of my windpipe irritated which was causing the ongoing coughing Hmm.

Just popped on to WP - pleasantly Shock at how well SNT is doing. Grin

Although mentioned it to my dad today and now he wants to read it Blush!

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 22:55

Blimey - now your dad will know what a bunch of loons nice shy retiring but intellectual lot we are.

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 22:55

Oh lordy, Buffalo Grill (known to ma famille as Buffalo Bill) is a real Do Not Mention thing. We went once, approximately 473 years ago and my dad has STILL not stopped going on about how bad it was. Every time we drive past one I can feel my heart sink...

Do you know, I actually like Flunch Blush It's kind of comforting to know that you are going to eat the same overcooked veg that you always do.

Massive, when it's too cold to sit on the beach we sit in the car looking at the beach It is hideous. I once persuaded them to go to a restaurant but have not been so lucky since :)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/12/2011 22:58

::Looks back for the last time, as Mr Thornton is ready with the poultice::

It's a viral infection, allegedly, and so not amenable to antibiotics and I have to keep snorting the steroids to deal with the inflammation. I feel quite dejected about it but know that in the general schemes of things it's no big deal.

I'm sure that in the past we've driven past Buffalo Grills which actually have massive horns on the roof rather than just a depiction thereof, but can't find a suitable pic. France is the home of gastronomy, doncha know.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 23:02

Oh yes, I know those 'looking at the beach from the car' days. Especially when the scene is all a little blurred and wavy, because the rain is streaming down the windscreen. Delightful!

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 23:04

I am just imagining how French people pronounce 'Flunch'

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 23:08

I'm going with Flernch.

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 23:08

What the merry heck can I see in the garden outside the BG place? Is it a totem pole or an anthill??

SuperXmassiveLBD · 04/12/2011 23:10

I thought Flernch, too, Twigs.

GoldFrankincenseAndTwiglets · 04/12/2011 23:12

BG?
