Good morning. I have started the week with a rant about getting old before my time here

This weekly series of threads has been great for my blog. Great for hits, great for feedback and great networking and discovery of other blogs. So don't just post and run, try and take a moment to look through what we've all got to offer. There's so much variety and great writing on here.

Also, this week is the MN week for their Miscarriage Code of Care Campaign. MmeLindor has been co-ordinating the blogging side of this so will be able to remind us how we can get involved if we wish.

That is actually quite funny. SOH failure there.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/10/2011 10:45

Grin that's hilarious!

So-and-so looks drunk pretty much just means they are blinking, doesn't it?

Kirsty should just accept the tweeness and get over it. Her reply should have been "Yes, it is twee, but I LIKE twee and so do my X million viewers so there is clearly a place for tweeness in the world."

TheGrassIsJewelled · 10/10/2011 10:59

Haha mmeG - definite SOH bypass there. Twee seems to sell (sadly). And on the subject of twee, WHY is Janet still in xfactor?

purplemom · 10/10/2011 12:23

Hi have been rather poorly recently, so not around but have caught up on posts on this thread.
Mme G I have read your post but had nothing constructive to add, so didn't comment. Btw I recognised you at blog camp but didn't quiet get it together to say hi.
My latest post about Blog Camp Bristol www.purplemum.com/2011/10/blog-camp-bristol/

TheGrassIsJewelled · 10/10/2011 12:35

A practical question (inspired by purple's latest blog entry!). How do I metatag? And how do I tag pictures? My blog is oh-so-new, but I want to start properly.

SenseofEntitlement · 10/10/2011 12:52

OMG, that princess book post has had 1371 views already, and I only posted it at half past nine last night!

Have also been taking pictures to add to previous posts. It was a bit hard, seeing as most of my posts are about abstract ideas or policy, but I took on board what people were saying here, and I think it looks better.

I have also added a thingy at the bottom of the page, as I've been asked to write for other places a few times now, so I thought I'd best clarify what is going on. I'm also starting to think about guest posts or other people's personal stories, so I've added a bit about that - I would love it if you could give me your views on the wording, as I think it is a bit clumsy.

It is right down the bottom

SenseofEntitlement · 10/10/2011 12:53

Does anyone else find they get addicted to checking thier stats? I'm the same with twitter followers - I get obsessed!

MmeLindor. · 10/10/2011 13:05

SoE
OMG no wonder you had so many hits - that book is atrocious.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/10/2011 13:13

I spend a fair amount of time watching my stats but don't bother with twitter as much. I set up a stat counter software (free) to et even more detailed stat analysis and amuse myself with that. Was useful though as was able to pretty much pinpoint who sent me some mean emails last week.

The Princess book got retweeted by some big-ish feminist twitter thingy so I saw it before I even came on here!

MmeLindor. · 10/10/2011 13:19

I just tweeted your Princess book, SoE. Lots of Shock faces.

afternoon all, and happy birthday Mme G! :)

I am nowhere near as acomplished as all you lot in terms of my blog Blush need to blog today - lack of sleep has led to lethargy and notentirely sure what to pick on as a blogging subject.

Jo Yeates murder trial started today so that is blog-able in mini chunks (will be tweeting that via my other twitter account though so retweets will come via newsjunky1974 for anyone who has me (clairerandall) on twitter).

Amodmillymum · 10/10/2011 14:16

Thanks PR - blimey I am so predictable. I was going to write one about being fat and happy but felt that I needed to stick to my genre!!

SenseofEntitlement · 10/10/2011 15:28

Petite - where did you get your stats thingy, and does it work with blogspot?

Lol, I'm addicted!

MmeGuillotine · 10/10/2011 15:32

Thanks! Kirsty requested that I throttle her with the Kidston elephant print - not realising that no, actually, I meant that I wanted to throttle her with the actual Cath Kidston.

Hello PurpleMom. I am incredibly shy so tend to lurk about on the edges of gatherings unless forced to, y'know, PULL MY SOCKS UP and take part. I think my mother must have been secretly at BlogCamp though as instead of an actual birthday card she has sent me a link to the Beatles (I bloody hate the Beatles) singing Happy Fucking Birthday on YouTube. I may do a video response. However, I'd hate to be totally disowned so maybe not...

MmeGuillotine · 10/10/2011 15:33

WannaBe - we're avoiding the city centre until the Yeates trial has ended but if you need photos of slavering hordes of press types outside the Crown Court, you only have to ask! :)

PetiteRaleuse · 10/10/2011 15:36

statcounter.com

It's free - up to a certain amount but my blog isn't loved enough to need more than the free package.

You get quite a lot of info from it

purplemom · 10/10/2011 16:01

Mme Guillotine, the thought of a vlog makes me hide in a corner. I'm actually fairly sociable and confident looking on the outside. On the inside though I'm an insecure nervous wreck.

SouthernandCross · 10/10/2011 16:05

Today's Post here. Talking about the dangers of Hama Beads.

MmeGuillotine · 10/10/2011 16:14

Purple, they are TERRIFYING. I did one for a P&G task that I did, in which I had to pretend to be a 1930s housewife for the day - it was fun but I was SO nervous beforehand!

MmeLindor. · 10/10/2011 16:27

SouthernCross
Hama beads are on the banned list in our house.

Purple/MmeG
No way would I do a vlog. Perhaps if I could get Kate Winslet to play me...

MmeGuillotine · 10/10/2011 17:29

Obligatory birthday post featuring Cary Grant, vegan cake and pizza and also other stuff.
