WARNING

Don't forget your hard hat, hi-viz gear and parachute. We lost a careless vice-principal this way only last year.

Maud, what about a karaoke machine? I think I'm going to get MissTwigs one of those for her birthday and some earplugs for the rest of the family

PassTheTwiglets · 19/11/2011 17:38

For Girl, that is, not for Bloke :)

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 17:45

My, you ladies were busy after I toddled off to bed. I used to love CIN, Whyever did they stop showing it on the international side?

So then. Sense and Sensibility, in the bargain bin at the DVD shop. What do we think?

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/11/2011 17:51

Sense and Sensbility? At a bargain price? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Mr Rickman as Colonel Brandon was when I first encountered the expression sex on a stick.

Karaoke machine? You must be insane I need to think about that one.

DumSpiroSpero · 19/11/2011 17:58

It's been years since I saw S & S so can't really comment. I think it was ok but I've not been inspired to buy it or watch it since.

Maud - Miss S reads the JW books but doesn't watch it on TV.

We have been pleasantly surprised with the DS. She spends just as much time reading, writing, drawing & playing, but less watching telly, and as she's got fairly educational stuff on the DS it's an improvement really.

Luckily Miss S is quite good at limiting herself with stuff like that (God knows where she gets her self-restraint from - it's certainly not from Mummy!)

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 18:00

I thought you might approve, Maud. I picked it up wondering if it was the, ahem right version, and lo and behold it was. So it was snapped up, double quick, in case anyone else got there ahead of me.

I've been reading the articles and ROFL-ing muchly @ pipsqueak. Grin

Twigs - you can get Karaoke stuff for the Wii - Disney Sing It is pretty good.

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 18:08

Everyone has voices like crows, chez Massive. me included At least I don't have to worry about them joining a boy band and going for X-Factor on da Island.

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 19/11/2011 18:12

Is there an X Factor on the island?!

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 18:15

Several somethings similar, but I don't watch them. The glimpse you get when channel surfing is more than enough.

Envy - queasy stomach emoticon.

TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 18:20

I'm with Maud there Twigs on the karaoke machine perhaps if we were fortunate to have a games room over the garage or something maybe another year!!Grin

I think I'm too hard on my kids presents wise - I don't encourage Christmas letters but take metal notes when they mention something during the year. I avoid buying anything that I think is plastic tat not going to be played with for long if at all!!Grin. But do feel guilty sometimes when I see their faces at friends' houses at things they have but believe me they have more than enough. Moving every 18 months probably makes us more conscious of how much is not played with or used often.

And I have to say we are v strict with vampgirl's time on Itouch. It is certainly not an all day activity!

Onto a more pressing note - what do I get the colonel?!Hmm. A pair of leather trousers, Prada suit, tattoo transfer set...Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 18:25

A vote for the leather trousers, here, Vampy. Grin

Going on my inappropriate thudding experience, they are effective entirely on their own. Add to that the glamour of a military man, and they should be dynamite.

OP posts:
TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 18:36

Oh that reminds me Massive. You may remember that I had an inappropriate thud when I saw one of my (military) neighbours on his motor bike in leathers? Anyway, I found out yesterday that his wife has persuaded him to learn the Argentine Tango!!! She's trying to persuade the Colonel and me to go with them to classes!!! I'm so tempted but really can't see me persuading the colonel or in fact to wear leather trousers!!SadGrin Have to stay within the academy research and my imagination!!Wink

DumSpiroSpero · 19/11/2011 18:40

Mr Spiro used to have leather trousers and could still get away with them now if he hadn't chucked them out a few years ago.

We did have a conversation the other day about me getting him a new pair...Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 19/11/2011 18:58

I looked at those Wii karaoke things but they all seemed to be High School Musical type songs and other Disney bands and MissT doesn't know any of those... I'll have a look at some of the non-Disney ones though (if there are any?)

TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 19:45

Wow!!! Who saw HJ?!Grin I know He'a almost too young but I wouldn't say no!!!Grin. I noticed he didn't even bother to have his short done up at all this week!!

But what Aliona did over his head was definitely impossible!!!Grin

pink bubbles Trés tres tres nice!! Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 19:50

Short = shirt obviously!!Grin

Russell with guy liner?!Hmm. Not a look I find awfully attractive!!Smile

The colonel is cooking me supper - so lovely to just sit and not have to think about what I should be doing for a change!!Smile

PassTheTwiglets · 19/11/2011 19:58

Harry's dance didn't grab me like his others, tbh... I loved Bruno flirting with him though, that was LOL!

We have bubbles tonight too, though not pink.

TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 20:10

I'm not sure I noticed his actual dancing technique to be honest!Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 20:12

Vampy, i'm reading about those neutrinos that were so quick on their feet, being as I can't watch Strictly.

OP posts:
TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 20:18

Can't decide if I find them fascinating or slightly scary Massive that the world as we know it can't actually by true?!ConfusedHmm. Ah I'll just have more bubbles!!Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 19/11/2011 20:21

I file that sort of info under Things To Think About Later.

SupermassiveLBD · 19/11/2011 20:26

The world seems to work, in a reasonable sort of way, though, Vampy.

Perhaps there's just a little tweak that needs doing to the theories, like they did with Newtonian physics.

OP posts:
TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 20:26

Things to let other people to worry about I think twigs!!Grin. I'll concentrate on more pressing matters like why I find RA just quite so attRActive!!Grin

TransylvanianVampiress · 19/11/2011 20:30

But it means time travel is theoretically possible Massive!!Confused and that I just can't get my head around however much I love Dr Who!! Grin
