Thanks for the FP, Maudie. To quote the great Ken Dodd, by jove, I needed that.

I have this uge now to roam the dusty halls of YT, checking out inventive use of foodstuffs in some of the major motion picture masterpieces I have managed to miss over the years. Gah, why did MrM decide to bunk off?

You name it, I haven't seen it. I haven't seen the one with the butter either, thank the Lord.

This, just in from Twitter:

Message from Richard Armitage, 25th August 2011

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all the kind gifts which have been sent to me over the last few weeks, for my birthday; so many gifts, cards and emails of good wishes from all over the world. (Poland, Ukraine, Japan, Russia, Germany, Korea, Itlay, USA, Canada, Netherlands and all over the UK)

I will be so 'well read', drunk, fat, warm and sweet smelling thanks to your generosity.

I am particularly excited to let you know that the "Just Giving" donations to our four charities has reached an amazing £11,933! In addition to donations to Oxfam and Christchurch Earthquake appeal, which I find both thoughtful and moving.

I am afraid there may be some delay in remitting thank you letters and any requests for signing photos, as I am in New Zealand for the rest of the year, but am working on a system to remedy this.

So middle age has arrived and apparently 'life now begins'. I look forward to the next chapter, there is nowhere I would rather be at this moment than exploring "Middle Earth" with my new family of Dwarves, Elves, Men, Wizard and Hobbit. What a gift to be here, in this place, at this time. I can't wait to share it with everyone. I am a very fortunate man.

Much love
RA

PassTheTwiglets · 25/08/2011 14:47

Doh, idiot that I am, I should've added on my own bit at the end! "And a special thank you to Twigs for the Nutella" or summat :o

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 14:50

Ah bless. And phew. Those that know why, know why!

DumSpiroSpero · 25/08/2011 14:54

Ah, what a sweet message (nearly typed massage then - Freudian slip? Grin).

So, my mate's exH has let her down re childcare and I am now doing Tracey Emin on my tod.

Unless anyone fancies a trip to the Hayward Gallery between 11-12 tomorrow!

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 14:58

Well all the best people do typos, as we have just seen, Spiro. Grin

Bummer about your outing. it would be too late now for me to make it, even if I went now and jumped on a plane.

OP posts:
DumSpiroSpero · 25/08/2011 15:01

Bless you Massive! Smile

I'm quite happy to go on my own, but if anyone's around and interested the offer's there.

Unfortunately most of my RL friends are not artistically inclined, and probably wouldn't go to a TE exhibition if you paid them!

TheSmallPrint · 25/08/2011 15:06

Twigs I am proper laughing at that clip and the choclate mousse! Grin

What a nice message from The Man, is he on Twitter then?

LadyDamerel · 25/08/2011 15:11

I have to apologise for my sudden disappearance last night - I was busy ignoring Small when MasterD2 awoke and I promptly fell asleep in his bed whilst settling him.

I was going to confess that I watched 5 hours straight of RH S1 yesterday (the ironing mountain was large, but the frequent pauses in action prolonged the task, somewhat). Gizzy is just and the chocolate spread conversation is not helping the ongoing wibbling!

There is a lot of John Thornton in Gizzy when he's with Marion, I feel. Their interactions reminded me a lot of the proposal scene in N&T. And when Marion jilted him, the pain on his face was so raw, I may have welled up a tiny bit Blush.

PassTheTwiglets · 25/08/2011 15:11

He's not on Twitter, no. One of the blog people posted it...

I would come, Spiro (don't like TE but willing to be persuaded otherwise) but I don't have childcare either :(

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 15:16

Ah , Lady D, Gizzy does indeed have another side, the sweet lamb.

He is also, as you say, beyond hawt. Grin

What an own goal that was, in the casting of a program supposed to be about Robin Hood.

LadyDamerel · 25/08/2011 15:20

X-posts there, darn MiniD's wanting attention.

Lovely message, his mum has trained him well in writing his thank yous promptly Grin.

::looks at pile of unwritten thank you notes from MissD's birthday::

Better get on with those.

Nearly £12k is a huge amount of money Shock.

TheSmallPrint · 25/08/2011 15:20

Yes but it got the viewing figures right up didn't it Massive, so maybe not so silly after all.

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 15:24

Do you think anyone would have watched, without him, Small? After all, the viewing figures can't have been made up entirely by thudding mummies.

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 25/08/2011 15:27

Massive, I know to you Rob is the PLFW but I have a slightly soft spot for him, shamefully.

(And Allan Adale)

(And Will Scarlett)

(And Much, a little tiny bit)

I think they cast Robin for the kids in the audience and Guy for the mums - the MasterDs love Robin far more than Guy - MasterD2 spent his pocket money on a bow and arrow so he could be like 'Rob'.

::holds out hand to Small::

Make friends?

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 15:37

Oh, I like them all, including the Sheriff Grin Keith Allen is genius in the part-- except for Robin, he is just a bit too cocky for me. And Marian, because she is a deceiving cow. Though to be fair I think she was hugely out of her depth with the whole situation. And Lucy did a very good job with it.

I luurve Much. And even Thornton. Smile

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 25/08/2011 15:41

Oh yes, Will Scarlett is lovely - though I do mentally edit out that stupid, teenager moustache. He was fabulous in Doctor Who - it took me a fair while to realise he was the same person (he was the creepy schoolboy in the scarecrows episode). Allan I could just about get my head around (no pun intended) but he doesn't entirely do it for me. As for Much?

LadyDamerel · 25/08/2011 15:50

I just like Robin's cheeky grin, especially at the very end of each episode when they freeze frame. Makes me grin back in a very insane manner!

I'm with you re. Marion being out of her depth but I detest her for messing Guy around. Poor lamb, he really loved her.

The Sheriff terrifies me, as does Keith Allen - how do you play a complete psychopath so utterly convincingly if you are a normal, nice person in your RL? I can't see how you can unless you have some of those characteristics in you somewhere.

TheSmallPrint · 25/08/2011 15:52
Grin

None of the others in RH are nice to look at but Keith Allen played the sheriff brilliantly.

PassTheTwiglets · 25/08/2011 15:54

I don't think Keith Allen is a normal, nice person! He terrifies me, always has done. His brother, mind you, used to be on the LOL...

DumSpiroSpero · 25/08/2011 15:55

I get the impression that KA, whilst presumably not a psycho, is quite a handful in RL!

Did anyone else notice another migrant from N & S in RH? The leader of the Irish soldiers that rock up in ep 2 is Boucher!!!

SupermassiveLBD · 25/08/2011 16:04

Doesn't everyone have psychopathic tendancies to some extent?

Do I need to point out that I do not fancy Much or Thornton in any weird and unwonderful way. They just amuse me.

Gizzy is a different matter entirely. Wink

OP posts:
LadyDamerel · 25/08/2011 16:06

Dammit Small, I was going to do the thumb to the nose and blowing a raspberry, now my hand feels all weird Grin.

There were quite a few cross overs between N&S and RH in the episodes I watched yesterday. I've forgotten them now but several times I thought 'Ooh, N&S!'.

Must go and walk the hound dogs...BBL
