I'm simply relaying the opinions of one of the Academy's junior associates, Spiro! I am even more of an old biddy, because I have never heard of Cher Lloyd.

::Goes to investigate the Bibliotheque de YT::

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 19:05

That doesn't make you an old biddy Maud. It makes you extremely fortunate not to be out-voted wrt watching the X Factor.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 19:09

Ah.

.
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 19:10

Hmm. We're watching the Spiderwick Chronicles. We are possibly the only house in the country never to have watched The X Factor.

::Who are the Beatles? emoticon::

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 20:37

Maud, you should count yourself VERY VERY lucky to have never seen the X Factor. I can feel the brain cells leeching out of my ears just from being in the same room as the TV when it's on.

LordD watches any old crap has eclectic TV tastes which do involve occasional forays into reality TV. I did manage to veto the watching of Britain's Got Talent this time round, thank goodness. I may build on that success come the autumn.

Quick question. If you and DH/DP had 2 days and 2 evenings in London without encumbrances, what would you do? I'm thinking of Richard III but don't think LordD will go for that - he's not big on Shakespeare or very long plays Hmm. I wanted to see the James Corden One Man, Two Guvnors but typically it isn't on on the nights we're there. We've done a lot of musicals but not a lot of drama/concerts.

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 20:40

Oh, and DT is just lovely, he has the most beautiful, expressive eyes.

SupermassiveLBD · 31/07/2011 21:04

Have you all seen the Hugh Jackman frolics ? it's in the DM, so I hesitate to link but interested parties might be tempted to take a peek... Wink

SupermassiveLBD · 31/07/2011 21:06

Oh, go on, then

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 21:19

Phwooar Poor man, being papped on the beach.

I don't deny that DT looks like a very sweet schoolboy with expressive eyes, LadyDamerel, but a schoolboy nonetheless. My top choices of play would be Richard III and One Man Two Guvnors, so I'm not much use to you. How about a bit of Chekhov - there's The Cherry Orchard at the National, too? I'm assuming you're coming soon (does this coincide with the meet-up)? If not, I reckon Michael Sheen as Hamlet (uh-oh, Shakespeare again) or Patrick Stewart in Bingo at the Young Vic will be hot tickets.

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 21:26

Oh I'm glad someone's in here. I suspect I may have a major dose tiny touch of PMT and have been getting a bit cross on other threads. I'm staying in here now, I think it's safer Blush.

Hugh Jackman has VERY scary muscles but isn't his wife lovely and normal? Not one of the stick thin actress/model types but a normal, pretty, curvy woman.

The Australian hunk is also planning to give a series of concerts in London during breaks from starring in the film version of Les Miserables. Now I'm quite excited about that. Didn't realise they were doing another film.

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 21:31

Thanks for the ideas, Maud. I don't get on with Chekhov (bad experience deconstructing him at Uni, put me off for life) but the Patrick Stewart looks good.

This is a bit later in the summer. MiniDs are going to my mum for a few days, so I we are trying to spend the time doing something we wouldn't normally do.

Do the Proms concerts sell out quickly, that was the other idea I had.

DumSpiroSpero · 31/07/2011 21:49

Have you checked out Time Out website?

Also - do you know where you're staying yet?

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 21:54

Spiro, I am the original country bumpkin. Time Out is way, way off my radar Grin but I will have a good look.

Haven't found anywhere to stay yet, we're trying to combine it with seeing some friends too so can't make a decision until we sort things with them Confused. Although if you know nice but reasonably cheap hotels do share!

O.M.G O.M.G thank you Massive!!! I love you JP but HJ is in Europe and looking damn fine. And possible singing here? OMG!!!!!

Apologies for the extreme overuse of exclamation marks but Pwhoar!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 22:13

We always used to go as promenaders and so didn't book, but I think some of the Proms do sell out, especially if it's a big name. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't go to the Ukulele Orchestra of GB prom. If you're coming during the holiday (unless you want the luxury of Claridges) check out the university accommodation. The LSE's Bankside accommodation is very nice and it's convenient for Tate Modern.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 22:14

::wonders where she left the bromide spray::

TheSmallPrint · 31/07/2011 22:15

How can I find out about HJ concerts? I actually don't mean that in stallerish way despite my precious post, I would genuinely love to hear him sing I think he has a beautiful voice.

TheSmallPrint · 31/07/2011 22:16
TheSmallPrint · 31/07/2011 22:18

Stalkerish and previous Hmm blummin iPhone.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 22:19

::spray, spray, spray::

According to my top secret and confidential source, Sunday evenings in the spring. Another potential meet-up?

TheSmallPrint · 31/07/2011 22:23

I'm up for it if you are Maud?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 22:26

All things being equal, why not? I do like to see my heroes live on stage, as you know.

::nudge, nudge, wink, wink::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 31/07/2011 22:27

Oh, then, on second thoughts, are you likely to throw your knickers on stage behave in an inappropriate manner?

LadyDamerel · 31/07/2011 22:29

Where are you all? Are you all off enjoying RL Shock.

Time to bring out the big guns and flush you all out....
