I am brain-dead tonight so this is rubbish - just a place-holder. Please do something else if you can think of a decent one!

I went to a first and middle school because we lived abroad, then came back to a UK secondary. I prefer it - I think moving to high/upper school at 13 is much better than 11.

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:01

The 'Academy' is right next door to the Surestart centre/nursery school where I work and quite honestly some of the stuff you hear/see from the kids there is horrendous (especially at that age). I am planning to sell the all girls school to DD when the time comes on the strength of her being more grown up as she will have to go by bus and therefore I will let her have a mobile phone Grin!

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 22:04

Now that plan is downright devious, Spiro Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:07

The thing is, the local high school is being completely rebuilt and will be state of the art and great for kids who lean towards more practical skills. At the moment DD is shaping up to be very academic so it's a no-brainer really.

TheSmallPrint · 13/07/2011 22:10

Secondary is from 11 here, it's 11+ and grammar schools territory.

Send DD to the girls school Spiro, I'm sure it will serve her well.

TheSmallPrint · 13/07/2011 22:11

Can I just say, I love Dara O Briain. That is all.

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:15

I love any bloke with an Irish accent - I swear I'd fancy Shane McGowan from the Pogues if I didn't already know what he looked like.

On that subject, can I just say...Donal McIntyre Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 22:19

Finan the Agile... now there's a BOGOF for you Wink

TheSmallPrint · 13/07/2011 22:24

Noooo I don't fancy him, he's just a comedy genius!

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:26

In theory I wouldn't fancy him either but...

Northern Irish accent = romantic and poetic

Southern Irish = sheer filth!

TheSmallPrint · 13/07/2011 22:35

Nah, but you'll know from FB why I don't think that hopes that makes sense

TheSmallPrint · 13/07/2011 22:37

Right off to bed, sleep tight my lovelies.

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:41

Completely mystified Small, bit will check out Facebook later!

Anyone else still around?

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 22:49

Night night Small.

I am still here, Spiro!

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 22:56

Hello! Mr S came in from playing cricket just over an hour ago having taking a ball to the top of his foot at full speed. He has just taken himself off to casualty!

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 22:58

Oh dear, you must be worried. Sorry to hear that Sad

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 23:01

Not specially tbh! He is sport mad - we usually have at least one trip a year. Is probably just badly bruised. He has managed to drive himself to the hospital so it can't be that bad.

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 23:09

Better have some Wine while you are waiting, though

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 23:14

I'm just finishing a bottle of NZ sauv blanc. I don't mean to sound quite so unsympathetic, but he has a habit of acquiring hideous looking injuries of no major significance, and is pretty squeamish so...

I found myself a bit of a bargain today. Took some books back to the library and as I hadn't finished a couple decided to look in the charity shops to see if I could pick either of them up. Didn't get either of them, but did score a copy of the complete works of Oscar Wilde for £1.25!

PassTheTwiglets · 13/07/2011 23:20

Late check-in from me. DrTwigs and I have just been to see Bridesmaids and I cried with laughter - it is HYSTERICAL. Spiro, that isn't the film that you saw recently, is it?

And a big fat to all your glowing school reports :o

Night, night.

My trip out was a lots less interesting! Just the supermarket run, and PO But I did treat myself to an ice-cream on the way home. .

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 23:22

I saw it last week. TBH the opening bit on the electric gate was what really had me PMSL. By the end my mate and I were holding hands and I was sobbing. That Wilson Phillips album was the first one I bought on CD and we used to sing along to it in our bedrooms when we were about 14 Smile.

SupermassiveLBD · 13/07/2011 23:23

Night Twigster. Glad you had a fun night out.

DumSpiroSpero · 13/07/2011 23:25

What flavour ice cream, Massive - anything interesting?

PassTheTwiglets · 13/07/2011 23:27
