just a portakabin maybe, till we can find a proper building?

She has an opportunity to attend a clinic for them to assess her. The stupid thing is that's why they gave her the badge in the first place and it's a progressive disease so she's hardly going to have made a miraculous recovery now Hmm. Her doc also provided a letter but it seems not to have made much impact. My worry is that she is becoming slightly agrophobic due to it and if she can't get close to where she wants to go then she just will stop going out altogether.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:01

It's bizarre. But then, these things often lack all rhyme and reason. My MIL received disability living allowance, even though she was far less incapacitated than my mother, who was refused it.

It's enough to drive one to drink. Speaking of which - Spiro's recommended venue.

DumSpiroSpero · 20/03/2011 21:04

No bloody common sense whatsoever. I really feel for you - my mum has also suffered from agrophobia & associated panic attacks - it's a hideous condition and there is so little understanding of it.

I think if I brought him along they'd give us as many badges as we like! Grin then again He could just carry mum everywhere she needed to go instead, that would make life a lot more interesting for me her.

Sorry, won't say anymore about it, bit be assured I will kick ass be articulate.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:09

As there's nothing on the telly, perhaps we should watch a movie? I've always liked this one -

::Leaves a trail of popcorn for Massive to find::

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:12

Oooh popcorn!

DumSpiroSpero · 20/03/2011 21:14

How about this

or

this

My logic with Claridges was the Spooks connection. The Savoy bars sound lovely, but unless I've missed something their website seems pretty inadequate as far as getting a feel for the place is concerned.

Not do-able for an Academy convention, but this is my fantasy hotel.

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:15

I'm torn between Duran Duran and Waking the Dead. See I like Simon le Bon but I also like detective type programmes but which is best? There's only one way to find out.....

FIGHT!!!!

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:19

Look up the Arch hotel in Great Cumberland Place.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:23

Yes, I understood why you wanted to go to Claridges Spiro because that's where the American strumpet took Lucas for a night of lust. That Paris hotel looks gorgeous but is it really 300 Euros a night?

We abandoned WTD several series ago, so I'd go for Duran Duran.

::dusts off frilly white shirt and bright blue mascara::

DumSpiroSpero · 20/03/2011 21:38

Yes, Maud - that's the cheapest room. It's where Oscar Wildest spent his final days. You book the underground pool for your personal use and they'll light candles round the edge!

The Arch is v. nice, Small. Have you stayed there or worked on it?

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:43

I was the artichoke on that Spiro.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:44

The Arch does sound nice. I don't much care for the bedroom shown on the website (looks like a more expensive version of Holiday Inn bland) but the Martini Library sounds fabulous.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:46

::Extracts foot from mouth but reflects that Small wasn't responsible for choosing the curtains::

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:51

No there are IDs on board, I just made the mess that was there previously into a decent building for them to create their themes. It's actually very nice Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 20/03/2011 21:52

Small I really LOL'd at "eats trail of popcorn without thinking"! :)

Why do we need to look up the Arch hotel - did you design it?!

Aaaahhh, Simon LeBon. DrTwiglets is very lucky that I married him instead of Dlarling Simon. I just put a story on Facebook, to a friend who mentioned his beautiful eyes, which I will cut & paste for you now (the story, not the eyes):

-------
Ah, well then, now you are encouraging me to tell a story!! When I was working at the Beeb, Simon was in the building across the road and I suddenly found a very urgent reason to go to said building. As I was on my way in, a bloke in head-to-toe motorcycle leathers and a motorcycle helmet on walked past. All that was visible of him was his eyes - but I'd have recognised those eyes anywhere :)
--------

Maud, I know, I know, ready-made-cocktails-in-cans must be gross. But we were buying an M&S meal deal and the mojito can just sort of leapt into my shopping basket.

So why don't we all have a London meet at some point then? Cakes and Wine! Would be fab!! We could actually do Claridges! (or is it £silly?)

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:54

The megamoon is staring at me straight through the patio doors. It's not as mega as I thought it would be, I'm sure it's been bigger than that?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:56

Twiggy - Quite how many fantasy celeb husbands have you had? Apart from The Obvious, RPJ, Simon le Bon, John Simm .... ::tries to remember the rest of the roll call::

Are we really going to do a London meet-up?

::Books botox and tummy tuck::

PassTheTwiglets · 20/03/2011 21:57
Ooooh, Small, you are so clever!!!
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/03/2011 21:59

According to the NASA website, this is the biggest moon since 1993. I must go and have a peek out of the top bedroom window.

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 21:59

I'd like to meet you all but I'd be terrified

PassTheTwiglets · 20/03/2011 22:00

ROFL at "roll call"!!! :o Oh there are hundreds, Maud. My poor, patient DH... :) Seriously, I've never known anybody who's had as many crushes over the years as I have... Simon was always The One though.

PassTheTwiglets · 20/03/2011 22:01

Small, PLEASE!!! I have seen your photos and you are a third of the size that I am :) And by 3rd, ofd coruse I mean 6th :o

PassTheTwiglets · 20/03/2011 22:02

According to the wonderful Brian Cox (there's another one for you, Maud!) "the super-moon has got knob-all to do with anything" :o

TheSmallPrint · 20/03/2011 22:05

I know it's meant to be Maud but it just doesn't look it, I have seen some massive harvest moons round these here parts.
