Would you like a glass of Chateau Gizzy?

::quizzical look::

Adjusts pince nez, also.

That is absolutely my signature tune, Maud!

I certainly hope it's the Doc and Prosecco option for Twiggers, rather than the puking bubbas..

How is the sculpture? Any more figleaves tonight or are they onto the doughnuts?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 22:47

We're now onto three sculptors each sculpting David Thewlis' head. But in the previous programme I was very irritated by the presenter repeatedly referring to the Lay-o-coon. Two seconds on Wiki will show that it is the Laocoön, so pronounced Lay-o-co-on. ::dyed in the wool pedant:: It's one of my favourite sculptures - look at the torsion and movement there.

I assume that at 4pm you hoist the Union flag, crank up the wind-up gramophone and blast the tropical island with Mad Dogs and Englishmen as you sit in your planter's chair with a nice Spode cup of Earl Grey.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 22:53

Oh, the Muppets. Such joy (or such fun, as they say on Miranda). I didn't know you were a connoisseur. .

Now we have Maggi Hambling, still a heroic smoker.

SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:03

Hmm, not being over found of snakey stuff, that is a bit too much torsion for me. And the guys don't look too happy. I did know how it was pronounced but only as I have an audiobook about Michelangelo that mentions it a lot.

You are of course right about the daily gramophone recital, and sometimes we have a bit of Rule Britannia if we're feeling cheeky.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 16/02/2011 23:07

Hello!!!!!!

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:09

I am surprised actually that the Muppets don't do the song that dare not speak its name again yet. But they do

SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:10

Hi Phoenix, what is new? Are you feeling better or didn't that cornish pasty do you any good?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 16/02/2011 23:14

The Cornish Pasty did me a world of good, as did my afternoon sleep. I was feeling rough earlier on though! I had a 1-2-1 with the boss (which had been scheduled for a while) and cried off afterwards. It was my one day in the office for ages too (I normally work on a client's site).

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 23:20

I knew you would know how it is pronounced. My indignation was over such a basic error on the Bee Bee See.

Another YT gem! I didn't realise that the Muppets had been made recently enough to use Coldplay songs (although I still feel there's only one tolerable Coldplay song). You know, I think I have recovered enough from my overdose to face That Song once more.

SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:23

So you are not in need of the doctor then, Phoenix?

Maybe as well, we think he may still be at Twiggy's

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 23:28

I think it will be a while before the doctor is back on duty, Massive.

Have we had any reports recently from the Academy's Department of Hairdressing and Allied Crafts?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 16/02/2011 23:28

No I am fine I think - my two day headache seems to have subsided too... I am no longer on a constant diet of painkillers.

And on the plus side, I am on holiday for the whole of next week!!! Result!

OP posts:
PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 16/02/2011 23:30

Oh that beard - the beard!!!! I am really liking it!!! I never thought I would say that! I have been perusing many photos.

However I am expecting THE beard to be rather more hairy, shall we say...

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:32

I sympathise, Phoenix, I get marathon headaches too. A holiday sounds good, are you going anywhere or is it just going to be you and your trusty DVD player?

That is a nice smiley sparkly eyed pic, isn't it, Maud?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 23:33

Well, in the press conference (edited highlights version) it was described by its owner and cultivator as experimental, wasn't it? So it may be replaced by a CGI prosthetic. Oh dear.

::Wonders why he wasn't asked to star in a remake of Casablanca, which would be much more to her taste::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 23:35

It's a very nice photo. Speaking as a pogonophile.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/02/2011 23:36

Evening all! That's definitely my fave beardy pic Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/02/2011 23:39

Is this not to your liking? It made a great impression on me. Arf arf.

And, with that, good night.

SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:41

Well I am very much with Phoenix on this. Not a fan of beards, but to my surprise, oh lawdy this one is mighty fine to me.

If he's going to be off being JP and filming Strike Back the beard may have to be experimental for the moment. But PJ might think it's a very good beard indeed and ask it back for a return engagement.

DumSpiroSpero · 16/02/2011 23:43

The end of the last series of Strikeback makes it quite possible for JP to have a legit beard anyway, Massive.

SupermassiveLBD · 16/02/2011 23:44

I see your beard example and raise you this one Maud. Sweet dreams and I hope it doesn't give you nighmares Grin
