Would you like a glass of Chateau Gizzy?

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 23:34

Marvellous! May I have some Chateau Gizzy? I'll go and get The Crate of Valauables.

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 23:35

Oh, very attractive, Phoenix, I love it.

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 23:38

Wine to Phoenix,. And Wine to our new building! God bless her and all who thud in her

Canape?

Being as I now have my own tropical isle, it should be me that supplies the cheese and pineapple hedgehog.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 23:43

Squeals..ooh look what I just found

::Struggles up the staircase with The Crate::

Here, as always, we have

the Faculty Michelangelo

a reworking of Renoir's Bar at the Folies Bergere

one of Botticelli's lesser-known works

a loan from the Imperial War Museum

and, oh - how did this get into the crate? - hot off the presses

the front cover of What Tattoo? (Feb 2011).

::collapses, exhausted::

MrsLucasNorth · 09/02/2011 23:50

Wine here's to another thread of madness and mayhem!

Continuing from previous thread...

Why would Uthred have to be blonde? He was raised by a Dane after his father was killed, but born a Saxon - I'm fairly certain the dark hair is right.

My dad's got some of the other books in the series so will have to check that out at the weekend.

Have been Zumba-ing again tonight, hence the late appearance.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 23:51

::gently leads Maud to a comfy chair::

Feel better!

That Botticelli is a very fine example isn't it? Even if it is lesser known.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 23:51

Someone found those before, Phoenix. The reaction then was more shriieeeek! at the price and the ::tactful:: difficulty in capturing the likeness when working in the medium of cardboard and felt tip pen. One could buy a heap of dvds for $52!

SupermassiveLBD · 09/02/2011 23:52

Thank you so much for all that very hard work, and at such a late hour.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 23:53

Oh, I would never buy one...I suppose I might be pressed into attempting to make one myself...or with my daughter perhaps.

But alas, I do not have the time for such lofty pursuits...

::sings::

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
We're so glad you could attend
Come inside! Come inside!

Tell me about Zumba, MrsLN. Suddenly it seems to be everywhere - why haven't I heard of it before?

That Botticelli may be less well known, Phoenix, but it is surely a masterpiece of its type!

MrsLucasNorth · 09/02/2011 23:55

Another glass of Gizzy, Maud, after your removal efforts Wine ?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/02/2011 23:57

::Thinks::

We could make them at Brownies!

::drafts resignation letter::

Thank you for the exotic drink, Massive.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 09/02/2011 23:57

But is this one not equally wonderful...

::steps back for a good look::

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 00:00

I was distracted, and when I looked back, this page had frozen

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 00:03

Gawd, the eyes on him..

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 00:05

::adjusts monocle::

Hmm. Another one from Boticelli's recently-discovered Fallen Angel Face sequence. One of the high points of Quattrocento art.

MrsLucasNorth · 10/02/2011 00:08

Zumba

I loathe exercise, but have been looking forward to going again all week. The music is a mix of Latino, bhangra & r&b type pop (BEP's, Taio Cruz etc). There's about 60 people, 2 instructors on a stage, and lots of disco lights - they call it a 'fitness party' - the age range is from about 8 to late 50's and some of the moves are quite saucy Grin!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 00:09

Is it expensive? Is it fitness boot camp?

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 00:11

I think looking at such things this soon before retiring is as bad for the prospects of peaceful slumber as eating strong cheese
My screen was smoking.

SupermassiveLBD · 10/02/2011 00:13

that last post of mine refering to artwork not fitness boot camps, of ocurse

MrsLucasNorth · 10/02/2011 00:15

Imagine doing 45 minutes of hardcore Macarena but less repetitive. The one I go to is £4 a session and if you do 10 you get one free, so pretty reasonable in comparison to some that run at gyms and are about £5 a go.

I am very unfit and out of shape, so am inclined to say that if I can manage it, anyone can.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/02/2011 00:17

Now, you see, I find the contemplation of Fine Art very soothing. Might be different though if it was a moving picture (especially any filmed at, ahem, railway stations).

Let's raise one more glass to the new Academy and then I'm going to bed.
