Just in case we need new premises tonight... :)

Hello all!!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 20:33

Perhaps people are still feeling fragile after last night's Bacchanalian excess!

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 19/01/2011 20:41

No - just feeling gutted that a new lead for Strike Back has been cast..

PassTheTwiglets · 19/01/2011 20:47

Evening all. Been a tiring day here so lovely DH sorted the kids and cooked tea when he got home, whilst I had another Close Encounter Of The Guy Kind. Am now watching Sparkhouse - isn't he wonderful?! He's only been in it for 5 minutes but you're mesmerised from the start.

DS had second full morning at nursery and loved it - I am SO relieved! How is your DS now, Small? (does he go every day?) Glad you got your email sorted, btw.

LOL at the idea of a RA Diet DVD and trying to run with it but a bit zombiefied. I will be spontaneously witty and amusing in an hour or so... :)

As for long & silly story, I feel a bit Blush about it but, basically, since I discovered Lucas I have had all sorts of long-dormant feelings reactivated and it changed how I felt about myself. I want to be attractive, instead of being a Souless Lump of a Mummy/Housewife and I want DH to feel the same about me. Is that ridiculous?

Phoenix, I saw that too - how sad.

Oh God, Alun Armstrong's character is horrible! This is really upsetting :(

OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 20:56

You have probably yet to see quite how horrible the Alun Armstrong character is, Twiglets. There's a wonderful scene where Ralph John tells Carol "you must never feel you can't tell me things" (or very similar words) which is so moving. He is such a sweetheart.

I always start the year thinking I am going to reinvent myself. That usually means I have a spree at the sales but then forget about the diet and exercise side of the equation.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 19/01/2011 20:57

Sparkhouse has some very unpleasant themes I'm afraid...

PassTheTwiglets · 19/01/2011 20:59

Had better put my hard hat on then... Hope Ralph's in it a bit more soon - 45 mins and he's only had 2 little scenes!

Also am failing to see what this has to do with Wuthering Heights so far...

OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 21:04

The Themes, twiggy, the themes. And some of the plot lines. And all the wind and wuthering up on the moor.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 19/01/2011 21:05

Have you read WH Twigs - it is not an exact parallel at all, and there is one significant change which you might cause you some confusion.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/01/2011 21:06

Evening, all. Dormant feelings? I can relate to that. Five minutes of black leather and big swords and I was very surprised indeed, I can tell you Grin So glad you are enjoying him, Twiggy, it's nice to have someone to rabbit on to about him.

The diet DVD is a brilliant idea. However no need for a boot camp type one, just one that requires you sit down and watch the BWWMD every time you fancy a bit of , well I was going to say something naughty, but I meant in the food department, like chocolate or cake or sausage rolls or even fish chips and mushy peas. Mind you I don't think even the WMD could put me off that last one.

Joining the queue of those who are sad about the re-vamping of the Strike Back lead. But maybe there will be better things to come. some of them without beards, who knows?

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 19/01/2011 21:12

I'm sure there will be better things to come after The Hobbit (though my excitement for that movie has increased exponentially since The Man was cast) - but it's the time we have to wait that is leaving me feeling desperate. Still there is CA and a bit of SB in the autumn hopefully. Then the CA DVD next Christmas, but after that...? There is also The Rover, obviously, but no one knows when that will happen.

PassTheTwiglets · 19/01/2011 21:12

Ah, I see - I mistakenly thought it was a modern-day remake.

OP posts:
PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 19/01/2011 21:14

Incidentally I'm watching Hattie on BBC4 with Aidan Turner also in it.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 21:19

We're watching the footie with Andrey Arshavin, who was a sponsor (I think) of the 24 hour plays. So there's a Connection even there!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/01/2011 21:19

I was just bemoaning the fact that there is going to be a famine, when I remembered going to see some American actors speak, and them making one of those terrible faux pas you get when you are divided by a common language.

We were all wetting ourselves with laughter because they kept referring to getting a goodly selection of roles as ''exposing themselves''

Which had them very puzzled till someone enlightened them. Then we had to tell them about Randy...

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 21:22

Ah, just Googled Aidan Turner. Vampire-turned-hobbit.

But, Theresa, while there's Youtube and Amazon, there will never be a famine, although we might be on a subsistence diet.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/01/2011 21:24

I suppose you are right, Techno, but tinned food is never delicious and nutricious as fresh produce, is it?

but still better than nothing of course

PassTheTwiglets · 19/01/2011 21:28

The wait doesn't bother me because I have so much to watch! It will take me ages to catch up! I am really, really excited about The Hobbit as I would've been thrilled about it anyway, even without The Man in it.

Oh dear, please tell me the little girl in Sparkhouse is going to be ok? How can Carol leave her alone with her Dad?! Still no Ralph...

OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 21:31

Surely it all depends on Theresa.

Stick with it, Twiggy. Even watching it on Youtube ::tightwad emoticon:: I was gripped. But then I've always loved a bit of sturm und drang.

TheSmallPrint · 19/01/2011 21:32

Oh I see, I go away and you all reappear

Twigs DS is fine this week other than protesting at home in the morning. Once we are there he is straight in, the staff are welcoming to him immediatley which I think helps. Perhaps he is just resigned to his fate!

I thought RA was in Strikeback 2 Confused well if he's not in it I won't be wasting my cash on any amazon DVDs.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 19/01/2011 21:32

Talking of connections, what can anyone tell me about The Wire in the Blood?
Hermione Norris is in it, I see.

I enjoy the Val McDermid novels but is the series worth a look?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 19/01/2011 21:36

I only saw a couple of WITB, Theresa, but thought they were kinda middling - Robson Thingy is not exactly Laurence Olivier, shall we say - but we watch all the policiers here. It was that that got us into Spooks and just look at me now.

MrsLucasNorth · 19/01/2011 21:38

Little girl is fine and Ralph gets even more wibble-worthy as it goes along Smile

I know exactly how you feel about the long-dormant feelings etc (well almost - you get my drift)
