Just in case no one opens a better one

You wont need an ipod if you get an Iphone. Nor an android i wouldn't have thought?

MrsLucasNorth · 12/01/2011 16:15

Oh yes. Was toying with that one...

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 12/01/2011 16:18

Hello ladies. First and foremost Happy birthday Twiggy! Here's a .

Sorry to leave early last night. I have hurt my hand, which makes typing (even by my inept standards) difficult. But I will never desert the Academy.

I listened to another song today for about the millionth time, but heard it in a new way which I think Teri and others might appreciate.

::warbles::

I'll sing to him, each spring to him
[[http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/images/gallery/RobinHood/album/seasontwo/Episode6/slides/rh206_047.html
And worship the trousers that cling to him]]
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - am I

When he talks, he is seeking
Words to get off his chest
Horizontally speaking, he's at his very best.

::ahem::

Now, what are the arguments in favour of an iPhone? MrTechno has one, but sending an e-mail from it is such a faff that I can't see the point. And who would want to see Mr Thornton shrunk to one inch tall?

::Luddite::

MrsLucasNorth · 12/01/2011 16:19

I've got music, audiobooks and photos on my htc. Also downloaded Kindle for Android the other day so can read books on it too.

MrsLucasNorth · 12/01/2011 16:29

What have you done to your hand Techno? Hope it's not causing you too much bother, but I'm sure a suitably qualified doctor could help.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 12/01/2011 16:51

I sliced it on a tin which some moron not environmentally-minded person had put in the bin instead of in the rceylcing box. I think it's borderline whether I should go and have it stitched or glued. I was trying to avoid the hospital but your picture, MrsLN, had made me think that a little medical attention may be, ahem, necessary.

TheSmallPrint · 12/01/2011 17:13

I get my email very easily Confused. Also have photos and music etc. I do t know the arguments but have had my I phone for over two years so am rather loyal. I have to say I used to change phones every six months or so, so it must be alright.

TheSmallPrint · 12/01/2011 17:14

Hope your hand heals soon Techno.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 12/01/2011 17:16

Oh dear, Techno, so sorry to hear about your hand. I hope the doctor can make it all better, or at least kiss it better. I had an argument with a sharp knife a few months back and almost sliced the top off my right forefinger.That was bad enough. I still type forgetting to use it most of the time. so a hand must be ten times worse.

I am interested to hear about the use of the iPhone as a storage device -I need to have something with buttons to press, though, rather than a touch screen as I like to listen to stuff in the dark and thus often need to use the controls by touch.

Well, after getting RH1 today, I remembered it's RH2 episode 1 on telly tomorrow morning - and it seems that everyone will be out. I am not used to such bounty. I think I may faint with the sheer gorgeousness of it all.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 12/01/2011 19:09

Thanks for your kind wishes. That'll teach me to go rummaging in bins. A kiss from The Good Doctor Track would indeed be very consoling (or even a bit of help with plaster application, which is surprisingly tricky one-handed, I find).

I'm interested in any further iPhone proselytising. I couldn't, though, store anything ::ahem:: personal on it as my possessions are not my own, IYSWIM. That said, I must get the first two episodes of Clarissa onto my iPod so that I can :ahem again:: get maximum benefit from train journeys.

TheSmallPrint · 12/01/2011 20:02

I am stuffed full of cold. I will summon the good doctor also and ask himo bring some strepsils and decongestants.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:05

I have an iPhone and I couldn't love it more, though perhaps it's not for everyone. I actually like the email interface. And listening in the dark is no problem because the screen lights up. I have loaded up music, videos (oh yes), audiobooks. I keep some data files on it, though had to buy an app for that, but the app syncs with our laptop via wifi. I have loads of apps of all kinds on it. I use Twitter and Facebook apps, ebook apps (eReader, Wattpad), I have so many. It's great! And I only have a 3G, it's almost 2 years old. I have games too.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:12

Techno - I hope your hand is ok - I hurt my hand a few years ago - sliced a finger open on a piece of broken glass when washing up and as a consequence lost some fine feeling in my fingertip. I went to get it checked and they looked at whether an operation could join up the severed nerves but decided it was not possible. Anyway I don't think I even had stitches even though the wound was quite gaping but it healed ok. But it was strange because virtually everyone I talked to about it had also had a hand injury and had lost some feeling or was scarred or something - so I think hand wounds must be quite common.

PassTheTwiglets · 12/01/2011 20:17

Thansk for the further birthday wishes, girls! Gosh I'm having a hard time remembering who is who though :)

MrsLN, my phone is a San Francisco android phone - whatsoever that may be! I know literally nothing about phones [luddite] All I know abot iPhones is that we can't afford them (or rather, aren't prepared to pay that much for a phone). I got very excited when I discovered that you can play audiobooks music on the phone! Somewhat embarrassed and shamed that the first thing Dr Twiglets caught me doing was trying to download a pic of RA to have as my wallpaper Blush

So guess who got Series 1 & 2 of Robin Hood from the in-laws? :) Can't wait for DS to settle in at nursery and be happy to be left for 2 hours :o

Ough on the hand, Techno :(

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:19

Btw there is a solution to the problem of playing Lovelace when you have an iPod or IPhone. You can use iTunes to either mark it 'skip shuffle' or (better) you can use iTunes to classify it as an audiobook using the Get Info option which means that it shows in the audiobooks section on your IPod or iphone and is also skipped when you shuffle your music.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 12/01/2011 20:25

Thanks for that useful tip, Phoenix. I didn't object to Lovelace suddenly purring in my ear, but it was quite a surprise! Must get episodes 1 and 2 sorted out, though.

Urgent delivery! Special birthday telegram for Twiggy!

But really, Twiggy. Armitage wallpaper? Have you shed all inhibitions?

::blames the Chateau Gizzy::

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:26

I have cough vids on my iPhone plus cough North and South plus cough audiobooks plus cough Clarissa plus cough North and South soundtrack plus a load of music and kids stuff (including some cough CBeebies bedtime stories cough cough

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:33

Congrats on S1 and 2 of RH from your inlaws Twiggy - someone dropped a few hints then....!!!

My RH audiobooks arrived today so must get down to some serious iTunes stuff soon...

I was laughing earlier at your husband buying you an Android phone so you could get onto MN easier....so what does he imagine you talk about.......snigger

Sorry I'm being naughty..

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 12/01/2011 20:34

Ah yes, the Cbeebies bedtime stories. I had forgotten about those.

MrsLucasNorth · 12/01/2011 20:36

It's not just me then Phoenix. I have Clarissa, Venetia and a little gallery of my fave photos (22 so far!), plus Far from the Madding Crowd on Kindle. The other Heyers will be going on soon - great for when I take DD to her swimming lessons!

Also have a music playlist featuring, Assassin, Alejandro, Womanizer, Gimme More, Rude Boy etc...Grin

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:39

I found audio only versions of the bedtime stories somewhere and they are great, I've classified them as audiobooks too.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:46

I've thought about getting hold of some of the music for favourite vids but so far I've been too skint or mean to buy the songs.

I have yet to master photos on my iPhone, and I don't have the space either. Instead I downloaded the Photobucket app and I use that to access my PB account on line....I have quite a Wattpad library too and just found how to access the more things on there....

TheSmallPrint · 12/01/2011 20:46

What happened to my post Confused bloody iPhone! Grin

Anyway I called for dr crinkles to heal the sick. I also said that I was happy that you had a great day Twigs.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 12/01/2011 20:49

Mrs LNP - in case you don't know this, when you rip audiobooks onto iTunes or whatever remember to reduce the quality you rip them at from the default for music, to avoid using too much disk space. You can't hear the difference (or at least I can't) but it reduces the space required significantly and takes much less time to rip.
