.. goodnight all.

Briefly back on the subject of the John Porter pic, just read an interview from last year that someone posted on Twitter, where he says:

"I can work hard and be disciplined like a soldier, but I could never reach their level of fitness. I have a whole new appreciation of soldiers. I saw myself on screen and thought, 'That body is so not hard enough to be a soldier."

Morning, morning. Some good research done last night, ladies!!

Now then, RA was in Spooks Series 1 (ep.4) in a 'blink and you'll miss him' role as 'armed policeman'. Am trying to find a pic, or more details, with no luck. Does anybody know about this? Oyster? We are on Series 4 at the moment and MAN it is exciting! Best series yet!!

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 07:57

Morning Twigs. I take it your dc's aren't fans on weekend lie-ins either! How did rest of first week back at school go?

And how are you resisting skipping straight to series 7 of Spooks? Am halfway through at the moment but am juggling it with LOTN - just finished disc 6.

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 08:23

Ok, trying unsuccessfully to find pic from.Spooks S1, Ep. 4, and came across this...

moonlight.edogo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/images.jpeg

Confused Anyone able to shed any light? Appears to be from an American drama that Sophia Myles was in but is that RA? Didn't think he'd been in anything like that...

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 08:36

Here we go. Scroll down it's the 3rd pic where he's wearing huge goggles & unrecognisable!

StripeyMoon · 08/01/2011 09:40

Morning! Looking forward to reviewing those clips when I get on the pooter.

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 10:37

Hi de hi.

The picture of him dancing with Sophia Myles dates from when they were in a play together at Birmingham Rep. I think that's the same play that Sophia Myles mentioned during an interview on breakfast telly (which is on YT somewhere) - the notorious one where He was a tap-dancing banana.

Right. Back to life, back to reality ....

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 11:08

Thank you flowers - remember seeing that interview now.

Think RA in a dancing banana suit with yellow tights might put even me off a bit!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 12:20

Hello ladies! A lot to look over this morning and I have Other Stuff I just have to do. Will try not to think of dancing bananas and get back to you all soon. Though as dancing bananas go, I bet he was divine. Wink

I suppose we all have dark areas in our past that we prefer not to remember!

PassTheTwiglets · 08/01/2011 13:25

MrsLN, very well done on finding that Spooks ep.1 photo!! I saw a very small version of that picture in my research but decided that it wasn't RA because he was unrecogniseable in it and people had said that you couldn't miss him. But seeing your larger picture, it is pretty obvious that it's him. Shame he's a frogman - he was listed as 'uniformed policeman' or similar, and I was looking forward to that :)

Re. school, well it was a total surprise - DD seemed heaps better! I tried a different approach and that, perhaps combined with having 2 weeks away, seemed to work! As for DS, he was nervous and a bit clingy with me but he really liked it and on his 2nd day he was well away and really joining in! He wants me to stay with him "for about a million days" but I think he will be fine. Phew! Thanks for asking, MrsP!

How did the other juniors cope with going back? (Theresa, are the Berries junior-school age?)

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 13:44

DD couldn't wait to get back and see her mates. She's also started piano lessons and French club, will be interesting to see how long her enthusiasm lasts, especially once she's back at Rainbows & swimming next week!

We've had a party invitation for next Saturday and she's been asked round for tea at another girls house the following week so looks like we're well and truly back on the treadmill now until half term.

Glad the little Twigs are ok. Does your DD do much outside school? I've got my reservations about what mine's taking on, but we'd agreed French before Christmas, and the in-laws bought her a keyboard and organised the lessons as her Christmas present.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 14:22

I am smiling indulgently at all those early pics of the Man. How utterly cute. And there was the nose, peeking out of the frogman mask, -- who would not recognise it?

Glad the little'uns are doing okay at scary old school, in spite of your misgivings, ladies. It's rather sad when they don't want you there any more. The Berries are so blase about such things now they don't let on to me what they think about things. Except their feelings of hunger and desire for expensive electronic doo-dads of course.

I am having trouble here with my computer again - for some reason it thinks I want to print something and it seems to have clogged up Word. I am going to lose a file here, aaagh. Not my latest story fortunately. Looking forward to MrsLN's when she gets round to it.

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 14:25

Him indoors is out tonight so providing LMN settles down ok should be able to finish Santa off!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 14:32

Hooray! Can't wait!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 15:33

Let's face it, MrsLN, we are going to like him any way he comes.
Nice smile!

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 16:06

Oh yes indeedy! I daren't think about the banana costume for fear that I actually would still find him rather appealing Grin Blush!

StripeyMoon · 08/01/2011 17:22

Haha I have found another admirer! Cannot introduce her here though for fear of outing myself.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 17:38

Another lady of extreme good taste then, Stripey.
Re the Banana of Shame, I keep remembering how the Americans call a sidekick or assistant or second lead in a series the 'second banana' Sort of what Guy was in RH. Shock

PrairieOyster · 08/01/2011 17:53

That play was called The Four Alice Bakers - by Fay Weldon. There are a few other rehearsal and performance photos around, on richardarmitageonline.com and also the Sophia Myles fansite (can't remember the name of it). I've also come across a review, but no mention of him in it.
