That pic of him in the googles from Spooks S1 is marginally better than the pics of him in Boon - any of you seen them?

PrairieOyster · 08/01/2011 18:18

I meant to say goggles!!!

Anyway, if anyone is interested in Boon, here's the info

PassTheTwiglets · 08/01/2011 18:40

My DD doesn't do much outside school, MrsP, no. She has fairly recently started ballet & tap on Saturdays but that's all. She really needs to have swimming lessons and I think she would enjoy some sort of theatre/drama group but she gets very tired and it doesn't help with the whole 'missimg Mummy' thing.

Oh and I forgot to reply about how I am resisting Spooks 7. Short answer - superhuman strength :) I have read so many spoilers about Spooks (I think I know what happens to most characters now, largely thanks to which ones are 'ghosts' on Twitter :)) that I wanted to try and avoid any more if possible. And Mr Twigs (well, Dr Twigs, actually :o) hates spoilers and we're watching the show together. But I have made him promise to let me watch 7.1 on my b'day with no moaning. From him, that is - I may well moan a little myself :o

Almost finished Disc 3 of Venetia whilst repainting the hallway this afternoon. Don't want to say too much for those who haven't heard it yet but my thought process was basically I've never enjoyed DIY as much :)

Glad you are loving Venetia Twiggy!!! I love it too!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 18:53

Thanks you for that, Oyster, you do know the esoteric stuff. One has to earn a living, I suppose so just a few minutes of screen-time is better than nothing.

Twiggy I still think you are noble to resist Spooks 7. I still haven't watched all my S8 but that's only because I can't get the house or the telly to myself very often Sad Of course no sign of my RH S1 DVDs yet but it's early days and I am being patient.

I haven't listened to Clarissa for weeks. It will be almost new again. Might do that tonight if it's an early night on here.

PassTheTwiglets · 08/01/2011 19:09

It's silly really, as we have seen all of Spooks 9! (as that was my realy introduction to RA).

PassTheTwiglets · 08/01/2011 19:14

Not that this is our oeuvre here but David Tennant is doing Much Ado About Nothing at the thee-ay-ter but it's almost £60 a ticket! Waaaah! Can't really justify that, what with the tran fare to London (though parents live on tube line and that would be cheaper...) I would love to go but knowing my luck RA would then announce The Rover and DH'd say we couldn't afford to go! Tres annoying though, as we bought expensive tickets to DT in Hamlet, just before he had to pull out of the show so I didn't get to see him then either. Ho hum.

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 19:15

Bonsoir, mes chères amies.

I've been pondering some more on the Oscar nominations. I might nominate this one for .

You have really whetted my appetite for Venetia now, Twiggy. Is your chap a professor type of doctor or, perchance, a medical man?

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 19:24

Oooh. Tres interesting about Much Ado About Nothing. It'd be a great way of introducing Offspring to Shakespeare but I guess it's not the sort of show for which there will be half-price tickets on sale at the Leicester Square booth.

And as our oeuvre here is the Quest for Knowledge, Beauty and Truth, discussion of anything happening in the thee-ay-ter is fine by me. Others may disagree.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 19:30

You may remember, Flowers that dear Oyster from Military Intelligence informs us that Guy's costume is in fact genyouwine leather.
So not so much of the pleather, please.
( I know, it looked like pleather to me too at times but I am so glad it isn't)

Having said that, that was a rootin' tootin' start to the proceedings.

Point of Information. Do we have a definition of the phrase 'toot toot' ?

Meanwhile, of course

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 19:40

As for the posts that came up while I was chipping mine out on my stone tablet, discussion of theatrical events is fine by me too, it's very interesting to see who is doing what. Vicariously interesting

but interesting all the same.

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 19:45

Indeed, but by my definition if it looks like a duck pleather and quacks moves like a duck pleather, then it's a duck pleather, even if it did once grace the rear of a cow. I might change my mind if the pleather ensemble is biked round for my inspection.

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 19:48

Oh. I know it's snot the same, but is there no indigenous thee-ay-ter in Limpopoland? Are there no Limpopian ack-tors of similar swoonworthiness talent to The Man?

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 19:49

not, obviously. Interesting piece on the radio this afternoon about people who've never learnt to type. I am she.

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 19:57

It's no good - I'm going to have to order Spook Season 8 Grin

We've not gone down the dancing road with DD, Twigs. She's more into throwing herself round the kitchen to Rihanna and the Far East Movement that ballet!

Much Ado sounds good - but Shock at tickets. Mind you anything live seems to cost a small fortune these days. I've only seen Romeo and Juliet and Midsummer Night's Dream on stage. MND was at the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park in July so was fantastically atmospheric. I'd really love to see Othello - might have to look into that this year.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 19:59

No you are not she, Flowers. it is I.
Oh indeed there are thee-ay-ters in Limpopoland. But they would be hard put to find an Ack-tor of similarly stunning gorgeousness superior thespian talents.

The Voice, speaking Limpopoan. there's a thought!

asmallbunchofflowers · 08/01/2011 20:08

Are you bilingual in Limpopian, Holly? That would create an excellent opportunity. Perhaps you need first to establish the Limpopo Film Council (prop Holly) and then entice Peter Thingummy to make the Hobbit in Limpopoland rather than NZ.

Offspring probably does too many after school activities. Have spent this week in a frenzy of cheque-writing. Ouch.

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 20:16

Flowers - what does your DD get up to when not at school then? The in-laws booked the piano lessons first and told us after (on Christmas Eve). It is very generous of them but was not impressed tbh. I have said she can do the 12 they've booked and see how she gets on, but MIL is already being really pushy which is winding me up a treat at the moment!

As for my visit to Amazon.co.uk - my finger slipped. Now have Spooks 8, Vicar of Dibley and Moving On all wending their way to mum and dad's a secret address for me to collect and peruse when dh is out of the way at my leisure. Grin

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 20:17

Not exactly bilingual, Flowers. but almost. I could interpret for the crew and find them places to stay etc

Now there's a novel chat-up line. ''Come and listen to my nightingale sometime''

PrairieOyster · 08/01/2011 20:19

I would go to see DT in something theatrical but I wouldn't go out of my way to go, or be miffed if I missed out. I'm sure I would enjoy the performance - so he's doing comedy now, is he? It will get him some publicity that's for sure.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 08/01/2011 20:23

MrsLN I am shocked at your deviousness.

What a good idea, I must have a word with one of my pals here and also look into getting a poste restante address for next time I am in the UK.

PrairieOyster · 08/01/2011 20:24

MrsLN - IMHO you simply must let your DD try the piano - it's a wonderful instrument and a brilliant foundation for learning other instruments.

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 20:28

Oyster I have no problem with her learning piano and it's v. nice of in-laws to offer to pay for lessons, am just concerned about biting off more than she can chew - she is only 6, and if she doesn't get on with it MIL is likely to throw a major wobbly.

They've bought her a decent keyboard which does the job without the expense or space being taken up. FIL composes as a hobby and she's always liked having a little jam session with him when we go round there!

PrairieOyster · 08/01/2011 20:28

MrsLN - what will happen if your dh discovers your stash of Armitage disks - would he even make the connection do you think. Or perhaps you have them well hidden...perhaps you need a story prepared in advance eg I was looking after them for a friend... Or they must have been left there by the previous owners...??

MrsLucasNorth · 08/01/2011 20:30

Theresa - if you think that's shocking - I had the other 2 Heyer audiobooks delivered to my parents a few days before Christmas, so I called my mum and asked her to wrap them for me and add them to my bag of pressies from them Grin!

Id have been a natural for MI5!!!
