Don't mind if I do, Missy!

I did indeed enjoy the view, Holly. Glad you enjoyed Chapter 3.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 21:42

speaking of enjoying the view

Hmm. The Poet does not do shops but he does do Amazon. I agree that the best present of all is something gorgeous that one hasn't asked for but is a delightful surprise.

Would you like some twiglets of your own? There's plenty to go round.

Yum, that last plateful was extra tasty. Thanks, Missy.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 25/12/2010 22:20

Well, I have to call it a night, for once. See you all tomorrow, I hope.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your evenings.

PassTheTwiglets · 25/12/2010 22:37

Night Holly! xx

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 22:43

Hi Twigs - how's the rest of your day been?

OP posts:
lovelyopaque · 25/12/2010 22:45

Not been in all day. Is anyone else really Xmas Envy at Twiggy getting to watch Mr T properly for the first time? Hope you all had a good day. I have. No DC up til 7!! But also no driving so no Polish cordial or Gizzy for me. Still, tomorrow is another day.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 25/12/2010 22:59

You did well Opaque! My DD was a horror for settling down last night. In bed by 7, awake again at 10, 1.35, 3.20...eventually conceded defeat and got up at 5.45!

There was plenty of Chateau Gizzy, though Xmas Grin!

PassTheTwiglets · 26/12/2010 07:19

Rest of day not bad thanks, MrsP, though we were banned to the small telly in the kicthen to watch Dr Who special Shock. Some of our party a bit tired and grumpy which was both Sad and Angry but hey ho.
Trying to work out how we stay at home next year...

I am indeed very lucky to meet Mr T (I pity da fool) properly. I have tried to avoid watching too much YT research on this subject because I knew I was getting it for Xmas so wanted to wait to enjoy in context (back to "the suspense is terrible, I hope it will last") but I did have to cave and watch the 'look back at me' and end kiss scenes. I kept stopping the vids whenever those scenes came on but one day my finger just refused to click and I watched it. I've only seen 'look back' once though so I'm hoping it will still have the desired effect. Oh, I got the book, too! Read the first few pages whilst trying to get my baby niece to sleep.

My cousin found it incredibly amusing that TTL gave me a kiss. He laughed his head off, to which I replied "I know, I know - but I am very old and very bored" :)

DS and I are now awake but every single other room than the kitchen has someone sleeping in it, so quite how I am going to keep him amused and quiet for about 3 hours is beyond me Confused. At least I have the PC :)

Holly, sorry you were a bit :( at your stocking. Doesn't Emma Thompson tell Alan Rickman she wants something like you did, in Love Actually?

What does everyone have planned for today? We are staying with the parents again and going home tomorrow. We have a house rabbit and she's being left Home Alone all this time so am a little nervous about what we will go home to tomorrow!

Right, better find an Octonauts to watch on CBeebies iPlayer...

Hope you all have nice days today. Boxing Day is usually a bit more relaxed at least.

SnowyMoon · 26/12/2010 08:28

Morning all. We had a lovely Christmas Day but next year I am crafting each of the snowy boys one toy out of wood and that's their present, they got so much stuff it's obscene.

We're off to Milton today to see the in laws. Looooooong drive. I may pop in and out but signal is terrible up there.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/12/2010 08:41

Oh yes, Snowy, the STUFF! Have a safe journey, hope the drive isn't too tedious!

SnowyMoon · 26/12/2010 08:54

Thanks twigs, have a good day too.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 26/12/2010 08:55

That's better - have only just got up! DD obviously making up for the Christmas eve antics!

Glad everyone had good days. We are off to my parents today which is only a few miles and will potentially be relaxing providing DH behaves (he's not a fan of my olds). Spooks 7 - here I come....!

Didn't get anywhere near the tv yesterday what with DD and her Disney dvds, and DH with 24 and the cricket. It's too cosy in the living room with the fire on though, although may be tempted to have a couple of early nights with Lucas on the bedroom telly over the next few days Xmas Grin.

Anyway, Merry Boxing day one & all. Will no doubt be back later, either full of cheer and another chapter of SNT, or full of stress and a desperate need to offload!

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 26/12/2010 10:49

Last night was not good, but I did get soothed off to sleep by my favourite Anglo-Saxon. Though I kept jerking awake when he did a bit of a growl. Oooh, missus,

Hope to see you all sometime. I'm looking forward to MrsLNPs next chapter, and I'm hoping Tansy will be along later to give you a further episode in her Sorrye Tayle.

Merry Boxing Day, everyone, as MrsLNP said.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/12/2010 13:08

Aaaahhhh, can't believe I didn't spot the next chapter of SNT last night!!! Woohoo, loved it!

Oh dear, DD just been sick :( She is bouncing around like a crazy thing now though so I'm hoping it was a one-off thing.

MrsLNP, I can't wait to watch my Spooks 7 DVD too! Can't believe nobody here wants to watch it :) Thing is, we haven't seen S4, 5 or 6 yet and I don't really want to watch it out of order...

Tansy, hope to see you soon!!

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 26/12/2010 14:40

Hello everyone.

Sorry I disappeared last night. I conked out while watching Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.

I so agree about the twice-yearly influx of Stuff. I will happily enrol with Snowy in the Ladies' Woodworking Guild to learn how to produce a beautifully hand-crafted objet for Offspring next year, although I think the onslaught gets a little more manageable once they're at school and the supply of primary-coloured plastic tat abates a bit. (To be replaced by age-inappropriate Stuff supplied by well-meaning people who have forgotten your child's age, it seems).

I obviously need to rewatch Love Actually because I had forgotten that exchange between Emma Thompson and the scrumptious Mr Rickman (although not so scrumptious in that film, I vaguely recall). I am very glad to get things off my list, but the process of compiling it is a little soul-destroying. I am an ungrateful and unworthy old trout, though.

Hot chocolate, anyone, as it seems a little early (even by our louche standards) for Chateau Gizzy?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 26/12/2010 15:11

Hello, Missy, sorry I didn't see you before, but I was Otherwise Engaged. That Tansy could talk for Nottamunshyre.

Love Actually is another of those films that have slipped through the admittedly wide mesh of my ex-pat net -- I shall await enlightenment on the subject of the exchange in question with imterest.

I suppose we're still on the hot chocolate?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 26/12/2010 15:21

Do I detect a note of desperation in your tone, Holly? Is the sun over the yardarm in Limpopoville?

I feel ambivalent about the oeuvre of Richard Curtis (I've said before that the reason I'm lukewarm rather than wild about Harry is that he seems like yet another Generic Richard Curtis Bloke) but will happily undertake any research involving the divine Mr Rickman. Watch this space.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 26/12/2010 15:35

The sun is always over the yardarm in some part of the world, Missy, but a medicinal slug of brandy is just the ticket, thanks! I have been a trifle discombobulated through listening to too many Guy soundbites on that fan web-site.

Maybe someone else will be along to explain the Exchange before too long, so don't feel the need to subject yourself to unnecessary trauma.

What turns you off about Richard Curtis? I know so little about the subject, as I say I missed so much, and only seen the odd Hugh Grant snippets on TV film programs. Is it the aimable idiot with floppy hair schtick?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 26/12/2010 15:51

Here!

That's it exactly. Four Weddings and Love Actually in particular depend so much on the amiable idiot with floppy hair and a nice way with oneliners schtick that it all becomes a bit repetitive. But there are , I admit.

How long have you been an ex-pat? Or is that something which you don't wish to divulge, in order to remain a mystery wrapped in an enigma? Xmas Wink

Theresahollyinyourmind · 26/12/2010 16:06

Oh, dear, hardly snake hips eh? But fun.

I must hie me to the DVD shop when these hols are over and stock up again. You can get movies and a lot of American TV stuff, nothing truly important mind you, but hey...I had a bit of a spree when our long-defunct VHS machine got upgraded to a DVD player, but then I got sucked in here.

I have been an ex-pat for quite a few years. I am not being precious with you lot, I just don't want the world at large to be able to put two and two together. Just because I'm paranoid, and all that. Xmas Wink

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 26/12/2010 16:12

No, not snake hips but clearly having a good time, which is an attractive quality in itself, je pense.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 26/12/2010 16:50

Do you think HG is acting not to be able to dance, or is he like Colin Firth who naturally has two left feet despite being a champion brooder and smoulderer?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 26/12/2010 16:55

Oooh, dunno. Do we know for sure that Mr Firth really can't dance? The evidence for his dearth of singing skills seems incontrovertible, although I cling to the hope that even that may just be Good Acting. .
