Welcome to our newest faculty building. Make yourselves comfortable and ignore the smell of paint. We cannot keep up with the demand for new premises.

Look, what do I know? Don't be deterred by my timidity. Who dares wins, as Mr Porter might say.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 23:16

Looking for a cheerful Spooks vid and I get Cry me a River I ask you!

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 23:23

Finding a cheerful Spooks video is indeed a challenge. Benny Hill and Mission Impossible are about as good as it gets, I fear, although (and some twigletty moments).

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 23:26

Mr Porter says a lot of things and some of them he should keep to himself.

Maybe I should just give him another dose of nighingale, and leave it at that. It it is a quite sublime experience.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 23:33

You have the advantage of me there. I know nothing of the pensees of Mr Porter but something of The Regiment.

I suspect there is something of the poet lurking deep within Guy's soul. Do you remember (how could anyone forget?) when Nottingham was about to be razed and, rather than save himself, he ran back to be with Marian, saying that without her his world would turn to ashes? Let him hear that nightingale and he will be leather-clad putty in your hands.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 23:37

Sigh. that Goldfrapp vid was indeed packed to the gunnels with twigletty moments. Gorgeous Lucas, what a sin to use him up the way they did. Now I remember why I try to confine myself to Guy. Two personae are too much to cope with for one female brain.

BTW, was it Twiggy that was wondering about the various notorious soundbites, the imperatives and the Russian Lucas, and so on? One of the fansites has a lot of them, the same one that has all the screencaps. .

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 23:46

re Guy --as ever Blush
Marian is the fly in the ointment, the elephant in the room, if you will. You can't really tell him to Move On after what happened there, can you? Mind you, as you have skilfully eliminated Margaret from your universe, I could do the same with the Stupid Girl.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 23:46

Glad you liked the Goldfrapp. I have just found another marvellous treat, but will keep it in reserve for a while, as it is seasonal.

You mean one can collect the soundbites? Crikey. I have learnt so much from this thread. I think Twiggy's out tonight, is she not, wafting around her local castle in her bliaut?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 15/12/2010 23:52

I don't know whether you can download the soundbites, but you can listen to them all. Great fun.

I shall bring the topic up again tomorrow, so that Twiggy, if it was indeed she, won't miss it if she has been too busy to read back, or too fed up with my ramblings to do so.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 23:56

Hmm. The Problem of Margaret. Well, I suppose that, as this is all happening in a parallel universe in my addled head, it goes something like this. Margaret expired peacefully yet conveniently some, what, 150 years ago but Mr Thornton lives on through Mrs Gaskell's deathless and immortal prose. 150 years is, I feel, quite long enough for anyone to Move On. Guy, of course, has had even longer in which to do so. After all, if he has managed to overcome the slight inconvenience of being run through with a large sword, coming to terms with his guilt and grief and building a new life is as nothing.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 15/12/2010 23:58

Oh! twitter has just provided something apposite for Guy

O accursed hunger of gold, to what dost thou not compel human hearts! Virgil

Although perhaps for Guy it was even more about power?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 00:07

It is all very complicated. I was reading in the DM today that they had actually discovered evidence of other universes exisitng alongside our own, but as this was the DM the account was somewhat garbled. No that my understanding of the technical side of all this is anything but garbled.

A least our little scenarios exist whithin the realms of fiction, where I suppose ultimately anything can happen, though I would prefer not to have to fly through the air in long black robes and dodgy sunglasses.

So okay, 850 years is plenty of time to Forget.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 00:12

It was all down to insecurity though, the power thing .You only have to look at his body language, that way he has of standing with his arms folded, distancing himself from others and what is going on.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 16/12/2010 00:16

Actually, I have never properly watched the Matrix - it's been on the telly while I've been doing other things - and I couldn't fathom what was going on.

Someone on the telly has just said (a propos the higher levels of mathematics) that beauty is truth and truth beauty. More Keats.

Really must go to bed now. Sweet Guy dreams.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 00:17

And may yours be all of Marlborough Mill.

I never watched the Matrix either, it seemed a bit silly to me.

OP posts:
asmallbunchofmistletoe · 16/12/2010 00:19

Absolutely about the insecurity. He feels dispossessed, alone and powerless and hence the pursuit of power and status becomes all-consuming (and the source of inner conflict).

PrairieOyster · 16/12/2010 09:41

I've seen the Matrix - it's actually a brilliant film! But don't watch the sequels - they are rubbish and they spoil the memory of the first film too. I've seen both of them on a big screen and even that didn't help, just glad I didn't have to pay for either one.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 10:32

Oyster, I didn't like the premise Of Matrix too much as I often get the feeing that this is what is going on in what we call RL. That really we are just characters in someone's computer game.

It was me who wanted to hear the Russian. I'll be 'russian' over to that site now to check it out! Hohohohoho.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 16/12/2010 11:26

Holly - Exactly. And Vanilla Sky the same. I fear they are both documentaries!

Da svidaniya, Stripey.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 11:42

I wonder if Stripey has succumbed to her swoons after listening to Russian Lucas?
He is rather delicious.

Lot of other goodies there too.

Good morning Missy. I am reminded of the old saying:
Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

OP posts:
StripeyMoon · 16/12/2010 11:44

Slightly disappointed Holly, he seems to just be speaking with a Russian accent rather than in Russian.

StripeyMoon · 16/12/2010 11:46

Is it me or in the Lucas North Dogs one, does he sound Sath Efrican?? Xmas Confused

Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 11:54

Stripey, I think someone else was wanting to hear Guy say ''beg'' too, that was perhaps who I was thinking of when I found the site.
I expect the actual Russian would come from the Moscow episode in S7. I think he said 'spasibo,' at least, but I need to watch again and I haven't the time at the moment

I have always loved the name of the airport there, Sheremetyevo, but maybe they used the other one, Domodedovo. Does anyone remember?

OP posts:
Theresahollyinyourmind · 16/12/2010 11:56

The Dogs one is meant to be a Russian accent, I remember because S8.6 was my episode of the week, on Monday.
