Welcome to the new common room! Grab yourself some Twiglets and a glass of Chateau Gisborne or some Polish Cordial and come on in - the water's lovely!

I've just added The Impressionists to my Christmas list. You ladies are a Bad Influence.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 14:50

So your friends know about your little weakness, then Stripey?

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 14:52

A style tip for anyone still having difficulty buying Christmas gifts for their significant other. Fashions in gentlemen's neckwear autumn/winter 2010.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 15:04

Delightful, Missy, if a bit impractical in the torrid climate here along the Limpopo.
Same goes for the leathers in Twiglet's remarkable Christmas catalogue, a page ago..

I had a rather worrying thought, last night, after all the talk about socks.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 15:13

That's not a question to which I have ever devoted any thought, Holly.

For those in warmer climes, perhaps this might be remodelled as a solar topee?

PrairieOyster · 10/12/2010 15:25

Can I just warn you about the Bernard Cornwell thingy Teresa as it comes in 'quite a large case' - not the sort of thing you can just slip into your knicker drawer without cause for concern.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 15:27

Hmm black is not good, but I suppose it could be concertina'd down and the top sliced off to provide built-in AC.
My lot are so not into clothes though, though of course they do wear them, I hasten to add. But any gift not electronic is received with a suppressed sneer and immediately hidden under all the holly and robin plastered paper.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 15:28

Perhaps Mrs Thornton would lend Holly an antimacassar to drape over it as a disguise?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 15:30

Thanks for the timely warning ,Oyster

May I hope it doesn't have a large leery photo on the box?

PassTheTwiglets · 10/12/2010 17:02

I am Shock and Blush at thinking of Guy leaving his boots on. Quick, get the Magicool!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 17:32

Twiglets, the fact that he dies with them on, poor darling, is kinda ominous.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 10/12/2010 17:33

I'm with you Twiggy - my gut reaction to that question was "do we care if he leaves his boots on?" Xmas Wink

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 17:49

Obviously I was just pretending to be more refined, MrsLNP. A girl has her pride, and all.
I was also trying not to wonder what Twigs was going to get up to with the Magicool.
BTW, are you planning a musical number to entertain the boys at the New Year party?

PassTheTwiglets · 10/12/2010 18:05

Is it just me then? I think it'd be... um... yum Blush

Holly, the Magicool is for moments when one finds oneself a little overheated but doesn't have a fan to hand.

MrsLucasNorthPole · 10/12/2010 18:12

It's not just you Twiggy - boots on would work for me as well Xmas Grin

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 18:14

Look Twigs if you want the raw unvarnished truth, there isn't much that would put me off: socks, boots, gloves, you name it

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 18:19

It's ok, Holly, I realise your repertoire of responses to Guy and all his foibles is, shall we say, consistent.

Theresahollyinyourmind · 10/12/2010 18:37

Honestly, the depths to which I have sunk. I hardly recognise myself.
And what is worse, this depraved attitude has been flagged as ''consistent''
What has happened to me? And why?

The shame, the shame.

At least I made no mention of big swords.

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 18:51

Perhaps I should have said steadfast rather than consistent?

I have been at home again today with a listless, lethargic child. I could have cleaned the house from top to bottom, but the lethargy was contagious and so, instead, I watched the rest of Sparkhouse on YT. Tres Gothic. Ms Bronte wowuld probably have been happy.

StripeyMoon · 10/12/2010 18:54

I have lent N&S to my friend. She will be converted before the night is through Xmas Grin.

I don't mind boots on of or anything really.

StripeyMoon · 10/12/2010 18:54

*or

asmallbunchofmistletoe · 10/12/2010 19:01

Did someone mention hats?

PassTheTwiglets · 10/12/2010 19:42

I cannot stop thinking about boots now.

Holly, the socks would put me off but boots and leather gloves.... well, now....

Oh Stripes, I adore that hat video...

Missy, he is just popping off to Mrs Miggins' pie shop in that photo... :)

(Gosh, I do overdo the ellipses a bit, don't I?)

MrsLucasNorthPole · 10/12/2010 19:51

I'm another one for the 'not fussy' camp!

Given that I still managed to fancy him in Sparkhouse I can't even see Thorin Oakenshield being a problem Confused!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 10/12/2010 19:53

Twigs - how about boots and leather gloves andnothing else Xmas Wink
