Lovely muscle definition there, though.

Beautiful poem btw Flowers.

StripeyMoon · 16/11/2010 15:20

It was meant to be a painting of a fruitbowl as part of the fine art class but when I typed in 'peaches'...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 15:34

Oh yeah?

I don't think I would go as far as the Bad Boy Archetype thingy with Lovelace. I agree he's past redemption. But maybe he got a little more than he bargained for when he sat down to plot his revenge on women. Didn't stop him from going ahead though.

As for Clarissa herself, she couldn't be anything other than a prude, given the time and her upbringing.

That poem has always got me where I live, Flowers. I don't think Guy could ever be brought that far along the journey, but Mr Thornton would get it, all right

Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 15:42

Stripey, why have I come over all misty-eyed? I am sure that isn't the correct reaction.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 15:47

I was thinking that the Bad Boy Archetype might be applied across a number of Mr Armitage's dramatis personae, but Lovelace is indeed beyond the pale.

That's not misty-eyed, Theresa. That's steamed-up spectacles.

It is so not steamy glasses Flowers. would I lie to you?

Remember the 17th century madrigal?

My Love in her attire doth show her wit,
It doth so well become her;
For every season she hath dressings fit,
For Winter, Spring, and Summer.
No beauty she doth miss
when all her robes are on:
But beauty?s self she is
When all her robes are gone

Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 15:54

I have just gone and burned the dinner.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 15:58

Oh indeed. As he was the inspiration (we must deduce) not only for Lucas' body art but also for his actions, we must acquaint ourselves with the words of William Blake.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 16:06

Oh certainly. Don't call my name, and all that. But back to Sir Pip, before I burn the house down along with the dinner.
I do love a nice sonnet.

StripeyMoon · 16/11/2010 16:08

Why are you having dinner at 4pm? Confused

I think misty eyedness is a side effect of raised blood pressure and quickening pulse, according to the doctor. (can't link now as I am on my phone but you need only close your eyes and imagine Grin)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 16:13

Elementary dear Stripey. At my secret location it is not 4 pm. And the dinner isn't ready yet, I burned it at an early stage.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 16:14

Doctor, doctor, give me the news, I've got a bad case of lovin' you

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 16:19

My favourite medical man! What was his name again. Shame on me for forgetting

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 16:28

The caption says Alec Frame. Everything I know about Alec I learnt from YT.

OP posts:
Bodenbabe · 16/11/2010 16:29

He's Alec Track.

And YIKES Stripers, that was a sight for sore eyes! Though wish I han't clicked on it when DD was in the room, LOL :)

MrsLucasNorth · 16/11/2010 16:30

Reaching the end of the line ladies - are we going to go for thread no 4 or disappear back into real life...?

MrsLucasNorth · 16/11/2010 16:32

Excellent foraging by the way Stripey - well done! Grin

Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/11/2010 16:33

Real Life? I just unplugged that due to excess phone and family harassment

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 16:38

Oops. I stand corrected.

Are we providing a vital service for academia? Is it our duty to continue to disseminate our learning across the globe? Should we, dare we go on to a fourth thread?

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 16/11/2010 16:45

Flowers I'm definitely up for it if I'm going to have some company.
Have to admit these threads have been a very welcome distraction from real life over the last few weeks.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/11/2010 16:52

Well, I'd be powerless to resist being drawn in again. Rather than kill the series of threads off when this one is full, perhaps we should let them run their course? When people get bored or fed up, they'll stop posting and the thread will fizzle out.
