I was in prison about 18 years ago, between the ages of 19-22. I now volunteer with charities supporting female prisoners. AMA

No you don’t for pip
pip is different
to get a statement you actually have to call and request one

and there is NO such think as a “PiP online account”

oh dear - just spend a moment googling before you lie about something so easy

And your children…. It would be DLA? Or is this for your adult son?

Either way - @Lexibletheflexible knows she’s been caught out. Trust me

leavesinthebreeze · 22/09/2026 14:52

Is this wrong then? again - no skin in the game - just like to read things are true.

Adult son gets PIP. You'd know why if you knew us which you don't. Middle child also gets DLA. If you knew us you'd know all about that child and why they get that. But you don't, you're just being creepy.

I’ll leave you to your thread. But 🤷‍♀️ you know I’m right.

Ive never secured anything as a single parent because me and husband live in the same home we own together. If I was going to do crime, I'd just sell drugs again. It's far more lucrative than benefit fraud

If you claim multiple benefits, your government.uk account might be something other than just a PIP online account. For us, it's just PIP

A few years ago a young woman posted whilst she was waiting to be sentenced for something called joint enterprise. She never updated her thread and I often wonder about her.

That's another dubious charge

In my specific case, not trusting someone that I trusted as I overestimated their judgement skills, basically.

Or not breaking the law. Call me old fashioned.

Yes but if it is a charity that supports prisoners, don't you think they'd be kind of useless if no ex prisoners could volunteer? Oh do you mean just doing the process? Then yes. I assumed you meant a "clean" DBS. Yes I have had a DBS for my role of course. They know I was convicted of possession of a firearm and nothing else!

Isnt it more to know what theyve done? Obviously if youre on sex offender list they wont take you. Or does jt really not matter?

Exactly . Having a record doesn’t automatically mean you can’t work / volunteer somewhere.

It is about safeguarding

Your moral standards belong in the gutter. But I presume you already know that.

Bizarre

You were taking away a council house at 17 that could have housed a single mother who genuinely didn’t have anywhere else to live.

anyway, it’ll be like screaming in to the abyss

would you lie, like your mother, if your child came to you and said “oh no what mum, I fancy a bit of independence, could you lie to the council and say you won’t house me so I can get a council house?”

Edited

Serious question- have you never come across anyone who has an opinion on the law other than “follow it”?

I think it’s pretty well established that laws don’t have to be respected just because they exist. That’s not bizarre, is it?

I’m from a ‘bottom of the WC’ background. Every woman I knew in my childhood, including my mother, who had five children, worked to put food on the table. I still think that having a child as a result of an unplanned pregnancy with a brand-new boyfriend just after leaving prison is a terrible idea.

I’m not talking about him supporting you financially or leaving you, or you being more ‘resilient’ than a MC recent graduate of the same age. I’m talking about having a baby with the type of man who is careless enough to impregnate a newly-released prisoner he’s only just started seeing! That’s not someone whose judgement I’d trust. And you can’t possibly have known he was ‘committed’ when you chose to go ahead with the pregnancy if you gave birth 11 months after you were released!

Jeez, yes in theory it’s obviously a terrible idea. But 18 years and three more kids later they’re still together and successful and happy (by the sounds of it). Why are you badgering the OP on this, do you think she doesn’t deserve a good life?

Oh did that post ask if I'm a Traveller or gypsy? No, I'm not. Glad MN deleted it but just wanted to clear up that it isn't only those communities who commit crime.
