Just that really.

All the outrage is silly in my opinion.

There are private dr’s/consultants that will prescribe WLI’s regardless of BMI off label. You don’t need to lie.

Obviously that’s far far more expensive than online pharmacies so I don’t really see an issue with someone lying just to get them a bit cheaper.

Nain2026 · 13/05/2026 10:48

Promoting eating disorders is never a good thing, and although the OP doesn't have an eating disorder herself, this will be read as advice to people living with ED. How to get even thinner without being bothered by hunger pangs. Stick a pillow down your top to make yourself look fat in the photos the online pharmacy requests - FFS.

I don't understand the judgement about weight loss injections, whether there's a very sticky stone to lose or a lot of weight.

Op, are you concerned you've taken a risk of later effects when you haven't had the same risk/benefit considerations as larger people?
If they are risk free then it's surely not an issue how you lose weight?

Edited

Unfortunately the weight loss injections aren't risk free, so if it's only a "sticky stone" you need to consider whether the risks are worth it because clearly you are going against all medical advice (and no legal medical prescriber - whether that's NHS or an online pharmacy would issue the drugs to you).

For any doctor/consultant that is both illegal and unethical and subject to a massive fine/being struck off to prescribe without a medical need. Be careful about buying drugs from such a source.

Pricelessadvice · 13/05/2026 11:10

So in less than 2 days you decided that actually it wasn’t the side effect of medication that caused your weight loss, it was the WLI. Funny how you suddenly decided that was the reason. What changed your mind? I think you might be making things up, either on this thread or the previous one.

Did you just start this thread for attention? Since seeing your post from 2 days ago, I can’t help think you are talking nonsense and I’d urge others to take what you are saying with a pinch of salt.

And taking WLI to get lower than 8stone 4 is frankly stupid.

CollectingAllTheACEs · 13/05/2026 11:21

@Pricelessadvice I had a name fail change - I had posted on the thread for WLI starters seeking genuine advice and then forgot I'd changed my username - the side effects of my meds are similar to WLI so I suspect some of the weight loss has been due to that.

@Peony1985 I don't have an eating disorder, I just wanted to get back into my clothes and WLI are cheaper than a new wardrobe

@OnceUponATimed I've barely been able to eat anything at all on the WLI so it's less than I was eating under my own volition - I do know that's not healthy which is why I am stopping them. I didn't expect the impact to be so significant so quickly

@Waitingforthesunnydays they've never asked me for photos at any point

@SixLeggedSugarBug the pens only let you deliver four doses normally, although I suppose you could use a separate syringe to extract it and do smaller doses

@Empress13 2.5mg

@Clarissaclaire @Kitt1 I had to see a psychiatrist before I had the boob job who was happy I don't have an ED or body dysmorphia. The reason I had the boob job was that I lost too much weight after an abusive relationship due to the stress - the weight went back on but I was still left with no boobs.

@Forgotthebins yes it's been detrimental to my MH to be bigger than I wanted to be, especially coupled with all the other impacts that come with menopause (I was 39 when it started due to a hysterectomy after severe endometriosis). I admit that it's because I want to look better rather than physical health reasons. I only ever planned to do it short-term and side effects have been a little unpleasant but nothing insurmountable.

@RausageSoul I've not given anyone explicit instructions, in fact I've actually told people I won't advise their situations. Also how many threads on here are full of competitive under-eaters?

@MeridaBrave Yes I've started a new gym and they've developed a programme for me including weights/strength training - I was already conscious of the need for that due to menopause

@Clarissaclaire I suspect most people would be unhappy after going from a DD to an A and also putting on over a stone and being unable to fasten their jeans...

Bear in mind that increasing muscle mass requires you to eat at least at maintenance, possibly a little above. Strength training needs to be paired with enough protein and overall calories.

That’s not true, it can be prescribed off label, I.e. outside its intended use. Just like loads of other medications.

SixLeggedSugarBug · 13/05/2026 11:44

@CollectingAllTheACEs I just used insulin needles to withdraw the amount I wanted to take. My last pen was a 7.5mg and I never went up past 3mg to lose weight so just drew down from it tiny doses to maintain with.

lottlecat · 13/05/2026 11:45

I don’t know why randoms care what others do re weight loss injections. I have lost 9 stone using WLI but I don’t care that OP lied to get them, why would I? That’s her lookout not mine, in the same way I dont care if a different poster is lying about their back pain to fuel their opioid prescription. Not my business. So many people are up in arms about ‘misuse’ of WLI but never anything else. I wonder why?

namechangedforthispo · 13/05/2026 11:45

Me too.

Xiaoxiong · 13/05/2026 11:48

I remember thinking I might have to fib a little bit to qualify.

Then I stepped on the scales and no lying was needed - as apparently I had been lying to myself instead, and for quite a long time!!

Quite. Especially if that opioid addict is paying full market rate for their drugs and not using NHS funding!

RingoJuice · 13/05/2026 12:19

Why don’t you just compound it yourself instead of lying to a doctor?

You're right - but only in micro-doses and you have to accept that the drug hasn't undergone clinical research for that purpose.

@Winter2020 I'm aware, I didn't expect it to impact me as much as it did. But it's also given me additional resolve not to gain the weight back e.g. by increasing my activity

You keep saying about activity etc. Exercise is really inefficient for losing weight - it’s mainly diet you need to
control

This is bizarre. “Everyone can go to hell in a handcart in their own way and as long as I’m ok, that’s the only thing that matters.” Of course lots of people would care if someone was lying to get drugs they are addicted to! They need actual help with addiction, and it’s bad for society if medicines are being misused. At minimum the 4 million people who work in health and social care might as well down tools and go home if that attitude was how we lived.

WildLeader · 13/05/2026 14:09

Nushi21 · 12/05/2026 22:08

You got the jab to lose weight and that’s all that matters. You are not severely underweight and you don’t seem to have any E/disorders.
it’s all good!

Oh thank god! An all-knowing, all-seeing medical professional has appeared on the thread

<phew>

Oh come on now, that’s not what I meant and I’m quite sure you know it. I’m just actually sick of people on mumsnet acting like the WLI police. Adults are responsible for themselves though, I don’t know why anyone needs to act morally superior over WLI as if they genuinely care about the effect on complete strangers; they don’t.

@Just3pounds I addressed that earlier. I had posted under a previous username on the WLI support thread and thought that was the one I used to respond yesterday - had forgotten I'd changed it already

Yesterday. I have admitted that. Because I didn't want people to recognise me from the WLI support thread where I asked genuine questions but didn't disclose how I got the prescription. Although I am on medication which has increased the side effects of nausea etc. so some weight loss is likely due to that as well

You just can't stay away from trying to pick at me can you, you've just done the same on a completely unrelated thread - you were wrong btw

Also not true, they can prescribe whatever dose they see fit

And there has been clinical trials on those who are not obese. Which is why it continues to be prescribed to people previously obese down to a bmi of 18.

If it is safe to use for someone who is now bmi 23 but was bmi 35, then it’s safe to use for those who have always had a bmi of 23.
