I've noticed that there seem to be a certain perception of police on here... particularly as a partner/spouse. I'm married to a police officer and there is definitwly a certain lifestyle that goes with this so AMA!

What’s your job?

WonderfulUsername · 27/11/2025 22:01

Were you disgusted by the racism, misogyny and violence by the police officers in the recent Panorama documentary?

And more to the point, was your husband?

Newsenmum · 27/11/2025 22:01

What police work does he do?

Superstar22 · 27/11/2025 22:04

What does he really think of arresting the old people holding up the Palestinian action signs?

AnotherDayanotherNameChangeX · 27/11/2025 22:04

how would you describe the lifestyle that goes with being married to a police officer?

sexlesshusbandwoes · 27/11/2025 22:04

lol it’s hardly being a footballers wife. What is there to tell?

MrsPerfect12 · 27/11/2025 22:06

Do you worry for his safety?

LunarEclipser · 27/11/2025 22:08

Do you feel anxious when he’s at work?

LancashireButterPie · 27/11/2025 22:10

Do you socialise mainly with other Police families?

NotDarkGothicMama · 27/11/2025 22:14

What happens when you've booked a family holiday and his leave is cancelled at the last minute? Is it covered by insurance? Do you got without him?

Nomorecoconutboosts · 27/11/2025 22:18

my question is similar to a pp. How often is leave cancelled, short notice shift changes, made to stay over etc?
i work a 365 day roster nhs and that is bad enough but to regularly have to change plans at very short notice would be tough. Is it occasional or regular?
And (sorry very minor question) all that uniform! Does he have a lot of washing and ironing to do?

Pozz · 27/11/2025 22:22

Whet are the main pros and cons from your point of view?

shakeitoffshakeacocktail · 27/11/2025 22:44

This is a good AMA Confused

TeaAtThreeTwentyFive · 27/11/2025 22:47

Question- whats the point in starting an ama then not answering any questions

SconehengeRevenge · 27/11/2025 22:47

Is he abusive?

DustyMaiden · 27/11/2025 22:50

I couldn’t be with a police officer, they always want you to cum quietly.

WonderfulUsername · 27/11/2025 23:39

Errrrm you do realise the whole point in starting an AMA thread is that you actually hang about and answer the questions OP? 🙄

Yes, we were both horrified. He says he hasn't seen that in his force.

What police work does he do?

He's on response. He says about 80% of his callouts are made up of domestic violence and mental health.

Are you worried about how rife cheating is amongst police officers?

lifeonthelane · 28/11/2025 07:21

Superstar22 · 27/11/2025 22:04

What does he really think of arresting the old people holding up the Palestinian action signs?

Therr are pros and cons. It gives him the opportunity to be a very present Dad as the shift work means he does more school runs than I am able to do, but on the flip side family time can be really limited. His leave also gets declined or cancelled regularly. He missed a weekend away for a big faniky event recently and my daughter was in tears because "Daddy never gets to come on holiday with us." He's also always exhausted - the shift pattern reallt messes with his body clock.

There's a lot of fixed ideas about police officers, just thought it would be an opportunity for people to ask abput the realities. If you aren't interested, that's fine, you can just scroll on past!

Does he want to do it longterm? I know two who have left as feel like it’s not worth it anymore.
