Has anyone has brachioplasty at the same time as a reduction?

I’m not sure how you’ve sit yourself up in bed if your arms hurt and your boobs hurt

Not gonna lie, I had to google what that was.

I didn’t have that but I do know that you can get bras with sleeves and I imagine they would useful if you did.

I’m almost 2 weeks post op and weirdly keep losing feeling in my little finger and one side of my forearm. Has anyone else had this? I was wondering if the surgery could effect nerves

I’ve no idea sorry.

However I only appear to be sore inside my boobs and around my rib cage. My actual breasts are pretty numb all over the outside. I’m assuming that is normal?

Edited

I’m scheduled to have this in the New Year. I’ve been told I’ll have to sleep upright on v-shaped pillows and I’ll need someone with me for about 10 days afterwards. It’ll involve 2-3 nights in hospital

I’m sore in the same places as you, my actual breasts aren’t numb but I heard the nurse saying that it’s common for this to be the case?

Blimmingboobs · 25/11/2024 20:01

I’m still sleeping fairly upright with v pillow and I’m over a month in.

Without it I end up sleeping on my side and waking up sore.

I’m only 10 days in but quite often take my v pillow to the sofa because I find if I’m in bed I slip down in the night

Yes, I had this - tingly hands. My (doctor) sister said it was to do with nerves resettling...

I had really itchy boobs for ages

OP posts:
Embley · 25/11/2024 22:00

The itching is the worst!

Lemonadeintheshade · 26/11/2024 08:31

So glad I’m not alone with the itching. Coming up 5 weeks and still feeling itchy. @Madagascary can you remember how long this lasted for you?

Madagascary · 26/11/2024 09:45

Sorry but ages
dr said take antihistamine but I didn’t
I still get it 2yesrs later if I drink

OP posts:
Lemonadeintheshade · 26/11/2024 20:07

Was hoping that wasn’t going to be your answer! Yes I’ve had to take antihistamines as it’s unbearable at times. I’ve actually been really lucky in terms of recovery so shouldn’t complain but it’s pretty damn annoying all the same!

Leonoranobra · 26/11/2024 20:18

I'll be 10wpo this Saturday, while I have had itching, especially after removal of final stitches, it wasn't unbearable.

I didn't have drains in either, I asked my surgeon why some do and he did tell me but I cannot remember 🙄 It does seem to be more US based (if my FG group is anything to go by) where many are outpatients.

ETA Congratulations @starsinyourpies Happy healing!

starsinyourpies · 28/11/2024 23:02

Thanks @Leonoranobra reading the recent messages I was a bit worried, nobody told me to sleep upright so I've just been on my back but so far so good.

Shower tomorrow is going to be so good!

,I didn't really sleep upright, just sort of propped with a nest of pillows. I had no issues with sleeping tbh. In fact I liked the comfort and support my nest gave me 😄

I managed to wash hair day 4, though I showered before that and continued to wash hair and shower separately until incisions were healed and dry.

It has actually gone by really quickly - and easily. Only slight concern so far is that they are still a little boxy at 10 weeks.

Anyone else further down the line had this, or even remember it? If so did it 'unbox'?

Enjoy your first post op shower @starsinyourpies

Blimmingboobs · 29/11/2024 07:22

I guess we all get different better and worse bits.

My boobs have never been particularly swollen or boxy and kinda already look how I expected them to by the end. I guess they may drop a bit over time but it was absolutely never about being perky for me.

Leonoranobra · 29/11/2024 07:32

@Blimmingboobs I just wanted to feel lighter, get rid of the chronic shoulder ache, and look less matronly. Absolutely job well done on all accounts - and I am delighted.

It is only recently that I am scrutinizing as I started with some silicone gel. I guess they still look a bit frankenboobie, but clothed they are amazing, and yes, perky!!

starsinyourpies · 07/12/2024 12:58

3 weeks post surgery now and very sore, having had a reaction to the micro pore tape! I've just taken it all off today to let the skin recover.

Very pleased with the results though and hoping it is less painful in a few days!

Blimmingboobs · 07/12/2024 16:41

Oh dear, hope it feels better soon.

I am 6 weeks post op and only now just starting to feel normal again. How I feel now is how I thought I’d be feeling weeks ago.

I’d say I mismanaged my own expectations.

Blimmingboobs · 07/12/2024 18:10

OMFG I’ve just tried on a D cup bra and the cups are too big!

I am literally weeping happy tears!

I have never ever tried on a bra that was too big before!

starsinyourpies · 07/12/2024 21:58

@Blimmingboobs that is such an amazing feeling 🎉🎉🎉

Embley · 07/12/2024 23:54

I’m at 3.5 weeks post op and still exhausted. I’m mostly healed except for a few odd bits which is probably normal… I hope

Blimmingboobs · 08/12/2024 08:05

I am sure that’s fine.

just ensure there is no infection.

I still have small areas which are very definitely not healed yet. I can see some undissolved stitches sticking out in a few places.

It’s so odd how no one notices. Everyone agrees that it’s a thing

OMG, I didn't believe this but it's so true! I met up with a group of friends yesterday that I've known for over 30 years. Admittedly they didn't know I'd had any sort of operation but they didn't say a word about it. I had 2.5kg removed and have gone down about 8 cup sizes I reckon and the closest anyone's got to commenting on it (excluding people who know what I've had done obviously) is a couple of "You look very well" remarks!
