As this is on AMA.
May I ask? Was it mostly the uncomfortableness and or back pain that caused people to want to reduce?

Or are there other factors?

I have tiny boobs!

SwordToFlamethrower · 02/05/2024 18:52

I want to get a reduction after I'm done breastfeeding. I'm a 32G but one boob is smaller than the other too. I get no pleasurable sensations from my nipples so I don't think I'll lose out. It is a curse, I feel nothing despite having big boobs! Especially after a lifetime of being assumed I'm some sort of sex mad porn star.

Do you get residual pain on your scars, way after it has all healed? Did they change size much from what you wanted them to be?

Thank you

I have tiny boobs!

Constant back pains and aches, constantly pulling my muscles on my neck. Painful ribs and shoulders.

Yes I've bought expensive, well fitted bras.

Hi all, there is lots of advice here but I had one aged 29 a few years back, all on the nhs. Happy to answer any questions

I think most of us are just bored with having to factor in our boob size into our life. A few of us have had shoulder pain and to be honest I thought my shoulder pain was from hunching at the computer rather than my boobs but afterwards I found that I don’t seem to have it anymore. But it’s the aesthetics.

Menopause is not kind to already big boobs and the drooping and having to wear bras all the time and just the hassle.

As it is now I could wander around the house or even go to the shop without a bra because the main point of a breast reduction is not actually the reduction although obviously that’s part of it, but it’s the uplift you get at the same time.

Here’s my before and after. Look!! I have a décolleté to wear a necklace

Plus Jesus is the freedom to exercise, I’ve got a personal trainer I can fit into normal gym wear without worrying about to buy enormous sports bras.

The fact that in my 50s exercising three times a week is going to make me live longer is enough reason to have it done. I had liposuction under one arm as well because of some, axillary breast tissue.

That was way more painful than this operation. It’s simply life changing .

@catin8oots I had surgery and radiotherapy at the same time as you, but luckily my surgeon gave me a bilateral mammoplasty at the same time; she didn't want me to be lop-sided. Best wishes for your op.

Hello all. 35 and been plagued with huge boobs since puberty. Refused a reduction in 2010 on the NHS when I was a F cup, but now I'm a 34H since pregnancy 3 years ago and they're not shifting. My books are so saggy and I hate them. Problem is my husband loves them and really doesn't want me getting a reduction.

I get back pain and during my period they are unbearable, so so painful. I'm not sure if it's worth going back to the GP after being refused at the consultation stage all those years ago.

I want to save up, but something always comes along.

DH shoots down any type of conversation about it

Surely this is not really anything to do with him? If he had massive balls hanging down to his knees he'd find it annoying too

bloodyhellKen22 · 02/05/2024 20:04

I had one when I was 18 but since having children, they've come back! How small can you request you go? I don't remember having a choice the last time.

CatLadyLegal · 02/05/2024 20:10

@0tterbythewater he just doesn't see anything wrong with them :( he makes jokes like "just think when you're older, you can keep for by doing keepy uppies with your boobs on your knees"..... 🙄

soupdragon321 · 02/05/2024 20:16

@bloodyhellKen22 i just said to my surgeon, very clearly, and more than once, that I wanted to be as small as possible, taking into account my frame and what was physically possible. I was VERY clear. I had had enough of them. I have friends who were not so specific, and all of them have said the one thing they wished is that they were smaller.

soupdragon321 · 02/05/2024 20:18

Just to add, I am very happy with the size they are now. And as I’m only six days in, I’m pretty sure they will be smaller once swelling has settled.

Respectfully, hell would freeze over before I tolerated a comment like that from anyone - never mind my DH! It is absolutely nothing to do with him anyway and his opinions don’t matter in the slightest. Your boobs, your decision

If those sort of comments/attitude in general are a regular occurrence then I’d seriously have a think about getting rid of him

That’s the risk of having too young

they have to avoid nipple necrosis by taking too much off

I have tiny boobs!

I have permanent grooves in the top of my shoulders from bra straps because despite being properly fitted the band was never enough to hoist them up. Couldn’t wear shirts as they gaped, underwear and swimwear cost a fortune. Having to factor them in to everything, having to wear a tight and sweaty bra in blistering heat or you’d get sweat rash underneath them. Having people talk to your tits and not you. Not being able to wear what you want because you have big boobs so look either matronly or like a porn star. Taking your bra off and not knowing which side to catch first as they fall to your waist. Not being able to do certain yoga moves because you can’t lie flat enough or they are just in the way. Random men grabbing them on a night out to see if they are real. The constant thinking of you have too much cleavage to be taken seriously at work. The horrific mammograms where they are squished almost flat and you are gritting your teeth in agony. I absolutely hated mine and am so glad they are gone.

Don't worry, I put him in his place when he makes his jokey comments.

I'm not sure if it's worthwhile going back to the GP or try save up and go private...

Madagascary · 02/05/2024 20:51

Go private with finance. It’s your body. It’s not a joke

My DH didn’t get it for a while, never made derogatory comments, just loved the boobs. But he could see, after all these years, and especially since peri and how much larger they got, how much grief they were giving me, offered to cover the cost, which was significant. He has been brilliant about it all, and can see how happy this had made me. Happy wife, happy life quite frankly! 😉

Just marking my place in this lovely new thread.

12 days to go now for me. It has come round so fast.
