I asked all the usual - recovery time

do make sure he makes clear he can’t guarantee a size - if he promises one then ....

about drains. Recovery. Sleeping. Baths. Bras. Post op checks.

I’d also add ask about who pays if you need follow up surgery. I needed a second surgery and it was all covered in my original cost.

starsinyourpies · 30/08/2024 07:55

Thank you! Yes I asked lots of questions about recovery and he has been very clear there is no guarantee on size afterwards but we are aiming for 'in proportion' rather than 30HH Confused.

Excited it's now looking like early November for surgery.

Madagascary · 30/08/2024 08:22

Gosh 30HH. your poor shoulders

@starsinyourpies fantastic you will be transformed! I asked about process, so exactly what happens when, appointments post op/ what to expect etc. Honestly there’s so much to know and nothing really prepares you for what a big change it is. I was quite stressed for the first few months worrying about my size etc. So the best advice I can give is … it takes time … I did not feel settled in my new shape until 8-9 months post op. Don’t rush anything at all early days.. let yourself heal & you will be fine.

Madagascary · 30/08/2024 16:30

Also tape. How long for. Do you change it. How long to sleep upright for

Just a quick note about arnica.

I don’t recall if people are generally for or against it in this group but my surgeon has categorically told me NOT to take it beforehand and that I will not need it afterwards.

He says it can make you bleed more which is dangerous during an op.

I felt a bit conflicted as a midwife specifically told me to take it after childbirth to aid healing.

Summerdew · 01/09/2024 07:40

When I had a lumpectomy for breast cancer the surgeon recommended it for after but not before. This time I didn’t even think to take it and I don’t think I missed it. I was only bruised from the lipo. I’d listen to my surgeon tbh, it’s a very different procedure to giving birth and he will know more for this type of procedure. The healing isn’t bad, it’s not “traumatic” surgery, it’s not like stomach surgery with organs involved, it’s just shedding some excess tissue and reshaping.

Madagascary · 01/09/2024 07:43

I’m very very glad nobody mentioned Arnica to me because it’s a load of bollocks

I had some breast tissue removed from under my left armpit and so had liposuction for that and the discomfort for that not pain but just definitely felt bruised was way worse than the boobs 😀

I feel like this is a lovely family holding me tight. 2.5 weeks until my surgery and I'm getting increasingly nervous. My new post-surgery bras arrived and they are so so small!!!

Madagascary · 02/09/2024 08:20

Singletrackmind · 02/09/2024 11:25

@veiledsentiments Ohh there will be … I had ‘Barbie’ high and hard boobs for at least 4 months …like that @Madagascary pic much softer & settled as time goes on. 😀

Singletrackmind · 02/09/2024 11:27

And FWIW … my post surgery bras that I passed on to people here recently were too big for me now … I know!!! So much to look forward to!!!

Mezzaninemel · 02/09/2024 12:22

I’m still mentally thanking you everyday @Singletrackmind the bras are so soft compared compared to the compression bra I had been wearing. Thanks again

the ? Manicom? Ones have thin seams under the cup. Ouchy I sold mine on Vinted as soon as I could.

They’re cotton lipoelastic ones. I’m having issues with my scarring and the softness has really helped pain wise. I don't wish to scare people off the surgery, I was warned based on other health issues this may happen.

Not yet, it's on the 18th. I've been wondering whether I'll need to buy a whole new wardrobe afterwards - what did others do?
