I think it’s great OP, that you’ve managed to lose the weight but be careful with your comments. ‘Looking awful’ & men ‘taking the piss out of you’ at 15 stone. There will be ladies reading this who are that size or more & it’s just not very nice.

afinishedkiss · 21/02/2023 17:47

It worked for you, you did it. People will always pick apart the diet but at the end of the day you reached the weight goal you wanted to reach which is more oft than not, a hell of a lot better than some on this thread are doing...but then again they are fat AND healthy. Course they are.

Well done OP!

gemeouttahere · 21/02/2023 17:48

Sorry, I'm trying to get beyond beef sandwich for breakfast!

Well done on the weight loss. How tall are you as 7.5 stone is not much if you're taller?

mickeysmug · 21/02/2023 17:51

Well done OP. I went for 15 to ten and a half. Can’t seem to shift anymore but I am taller at 5’8.

Whydidimarryhim · 21/02/2023 17:53

Did you exercise at all - well done op.

SecretPeston · 21/02/2023 17:55

7.5 stone? I haven't weighed that little since I was 11 years old.

OnMyWayToSenility · 21/02/2023 17:56

Would really be interested in what you were eating up to and during the weight gain?

Nyasia · 21/02/2023 17:59

Stillcountingbeans · 21/02/2023 17:31

Yes - typical day - breakfast of beef sandwich and tea with semi skimmed milk - 600 cals.

Protein in the beef and milk, fibre in the bread if it was wholemeal

Coffee from machine - 40 cals so 640. Chocolate bar Dairy Milk - 250 - so now total of 890 cals.

Yes this is rubbish - lunch could have been better, and it would have been on the days OP got a package sandwich.

Packet salad from supermarket 300 cals for supper so now total 1190. Packet of pre packed fruit from supermarket 140 so now total of 1330

Salad and fruit - lot of goodness and fibre. Possibly excess sugar in the fruit, so could have been something with protein instead.

Overall - not too bad, could have been better but okay-ish.

This.

It’s not ideal, but no doubt way better than what the OP was eating before. I would also think that OP is much healthier at 7.5 stone than she was when she was 15 stone.

Congratulations Scammell on your weight loss.

Exactly ! I was actually a shade heavier than this at 11 years old !

Any old rubbish - big boxes of Celebrations - I lacked confidence and was borderline depressed possibly or functioning depressive

I did this too at similar age, similar weight loss on 1200 calories and exercise for 13-14 months, it worked very well then the weight literally fell off and I maintained it for a good few years, but now being older the same thing doesn’t work for me with anywhere near the same results!

Things other than food that you like doing when you'd otherwise be tempted to eat - like your fav magazines / TV programmes /books /clothes shopping or planning a trip to somewhere you've always wanted to go

Would it not be easier to follow something like slimming world rather than calorie counting? Is calorie counting a pain?

Nooo!! I'm convinced that calorie counting is the best or perhaps the only way to diet. Previously I went to Slimming World for their weekly group weigh ins not to follow the diet

No I wouldn't say cal counting was a pain - I'd say it's more of a pain not to cal count then wonder why I've not lost weight - happened to me before on Weight Watchers plan!

Amazing achievement, OP.
I am the same as your starting weight and I can't seem to keep going more than 2 months consecutively - with the result that I've gained and lost the same two stones forever. My questions are:

  1. How do get past that 'plateau' point / boredom point
  2. Do you have any food obsessions and how did you break them if so. I have cyclical obsessions with all sorts - for months it might be pasta, then ice-cream, then veg spring rolls - sometimes even stuff like cucumbers and radishes. I can't eat my 'obsessive' foods in normal quantities, they're either banned or binged on, which doesn't help.

I think they took the p out of me as i lacked confidence rather than for my weight and my dress sense wasn't flattering. So not weight - I had low self esteem and it reflected in how I was, unfortunately

I got passed my plateau at around 12 stone by fancying a very good looking man in the office. That made me put my foot down I tell ya Grin no I didn't have food obsessions !

Do you still eat an unhealthy processed diet or do you eat more home cooked / nutritious meals now you’re not dieting?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/02/2023 18:17

Wow I'd be so hungry eating what you did OP!

Today I've eaten
porridge,banana and blueberries

Carbonara with salad

Salmon, new potatoes and veg , fruit salad.

I'm losing a kilo a week doing this and am down 12 so far. I'd be eating the wall paper if I could only eat a bit of salad! Glad it worked for you but what do you eat now, presumably the same if you're keeping it off?
