Hello!

I know when I was considering having surgery done I researched everywhere for peoples experiences and would have found an AMA helpful

I had a 360 Tummy tuck, lipo, breast lift and implant and my arms done in Turkey
So basically a brand new body!

I'm happy to answer questions if anyone wants to ask anything

@christmas2022 what have new builds in villages got to do with the NHS ?
The NHS is on its knees , so anything self inflicted , yes is frustrating.
Not alcoholics or drug addicts ,they are illnesses.
Getting pissed and fighting - yes.

Thousands of homes being built on the edge of villages and adding to the pressure you mention when the hospitals are not being extended at the same rate as the homes being built.

What clothes size were you before you lost the weight and what size do you think you'll be after all the swelling has gone down?

ItsJustLittleOlMe · 15/09/2022 14:11

Would you mind sharing the name of the clinic please? I'm currently looking into a tummy tuck, boob job etc - basically the 'mummy makeover'!

I was a 12 I'm already in a 10 now and I'm still very swollen
I've not weighed myself as I never really did anyway and it's likely that due to the swelling and fluid i will still be the same or more which is quite common

Very cheap, the area I was in was anyway.
I didn't get to see much of it as I was on hospital or recovering in the hotel but a lot of people say the old town was beautiful
The people are lovely and I had no problems at all

I'd always urge anyone considering this to join Facebook groups such as the Botched Abroad one. There's a couple at least and you'll see the truth about what can go wrong when abroad

Reps for these people work in various ways and this'll be one of them - posting on Mumsnet!

Having surgery abroad is often unregulated and fraught with aftercare issues. Companies whitewash bad reviews away.

Just exercise caution and do due diligence.

I paid 15k in the UK for a tummy tuck , lipo and breast reduction. I would ever ever consider going abroad as no money saving is worth the very real risk - and the truth about these surgeons is out there if you go properly looking

Glad it worked out for you op

StrawberrySweeties · 15/09/2022 15:26

@Threebutterflies please please think twice. Have you joined any groups on Facebook? That is the easiest way to find info about your surgeon

Thank you I am over the moon with my results

I think the best advice I can give is research, there are registers for surgeons abroad, the botched groups are essential.

The clinic or booking agents should offer to send photos of the surgeons previous work, offer to put you in touch with previous patients etc.

There are some frightening stories out there.
I was 100% sure I'd made the right decision
Surgery can go wrong anywhere in the world

There are a lot of reps posing as patients in groups it can be a minefield finding the right surgeon

There are some pinned posts with lists of clinics/surgeons or you can search the group or start a thread relaying what you've said here, see what people advise

Do you think age has a factor in how your body has recovered ?
You say you are pleased with how the pain was less , and you felt well after a shorter time than expected . If you are under 40 then maybe that helped but perhaps older people would not have such a good outcome.
I'd also be interested if any medical person could comment with regard to recovery / scarring etc.

Turkeytummytuck · 15/09/2022 16:14

I am not under 40 and have healed v well

I'm not medically trained but the things I learnt can affect healing are skin type ( ethnicity)
Smoking
Sun exposure
Certain medications.
Obviously there are lots more but these are the most common that come up

OP posts:
KittyCatsby · 15/09/2022 16:16

Can I ask , how old you are ?

Turkeytummytuck · 15/09/2022 16:22

I'm 40.
These are the scars on my arms which was taken 6 weeks post surgery
I've got garments on at the moment which are a pain to take off so can't take one atm
The rest of my scars look similar in appearance
And a before and after of my arms
The scar is so cleverly placed you can only see it if I lift my arm like that, looking front on at me its not visible

StrawberrySweeties · 15/09/2022 16:23

@KittyCatsby I'm 50 and had my tummy tuck at 48 and breast reduction at 49. I recovered as well as I would have done aged 30 or 40... in fact, I know for sure I did because I had a breast reduction aged 29. (Only had another due to having another child which isn't good for lasting surgery results!)

The recovery is pretty brutal though but my results were astonishing. I didn't have it done after large weight loss though

Sorry op - I've almost answered for you on your AMA - I'll bow out and well done on your fab result

No need to apologise!
I'm friends with a lady in her 70s who has had surgery and her results and healing have been brilliant too.
A lot of the results come from how you look after yourself post surgery.
I was told on departure to "look after my new body " and I have done my best, garments, scar creams, taking things easy etc
I had extensive surgery done, arms boobs 360TT with lipo.
My scar on my stomach goes all the way round my body over my hips and my lower back, I've had a lot of healing to do

If you did develop another infection, swelling, hematoma, what would you do?

Turkeytummytuck · 15/09/2022 16:31

This is what was taken in the 360TT
My whole lower body has been lifted, my bum and mons area has all moved
The lipo was to sculpt my new shape

I would obviously have to rely on the NHS for emergency treatment in a life or death situation.

Any work that needed correction would be done by the original surgeon.

I purposely stayed over there longer than suggested to ensure that no complications had arisen after the surgery that would require emergency treatment, such as hematoma, seroma etc

The infection was just one of those things, I had antibiotics prescribed by the surgeon incase of that happening and I took the course as needed

@Threebutterflies

Please, please don't go if you're feeling this way. That voice inside you that is panicking and knows they've changed since having the deposit is a voice you should listen to. It's your self preservation kicking in. You are going to be over there and incredibly vulnerable - at their mercy basically, as anyone is when they have surgery. Please don't put yourself in this position, better to lose money than to lose money and your health and mental wellbeing Flowers

God I would love this, but also want my inner thighs doing! Thanks for the thread!
