Since there have been a few hair related threads lately I thought people might have questions.

@processedpea I love fringes but there’s always a wanker of a cows lick ready to ruin them! It’s all to do with hair types and hairlines. If you have a lovely straight hairline and nice straight hair fringes are great. If you don’t they're a nightmare

@dontpointatme that’s a lovely haircut. Don’t worry about it looking limp, unless your hair is really fine and flat naturally it should be fine. Your hairdresser will tell you what to use to style it and give it volume. Styling products are your friend for short hair. Keep it looking slightly messy and it won’t look flat!

@Minkies11 I think most people do. I have thick hair myself and I lose a lot too, I seem to go through stages of it, once there are no bald patches there’s nothing to worry about😊

I'm getting my hair cut on Monday, but I have no idea what I want. Currently just above shoulder length, fine curly hair, used to have lots of hair but hypothyroid and low iron and others led to a lot of hair loss so it's thinner than I am used to . What looks good with this hair type ? I'm late 30's so nothing ultra fashion and low maintenance is good Smile

LorelaiRoryEmily · 27/04/2019 17:06

Oh and on average most people lose 150 hairs a day! Forgot that bit🤣🤣

@blamethecat maybe a shorter, chin length bob sort of style? A-line. That length nice and simply cut always looks good with curly hair.

Thank you Flowers

Processedpea · 27/04/2019 21:02

Do you have clients who cut their own hair and come to you to fix ,?

SunshineCake · 27/04/2019 21:10

.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 27/04/2019 21:25

@Processedpea yep! Not loads but it does happen. And clients who butcher their kids hair and bring them to me to fix too🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Thanks OP. Maybe hacking my hair off with the kitchen scissors was a slight overreaction Grin
Bloody needed a good cut though. I'll go to a professional next time!

LorelaiRoryEmily · 27/04/2019 22:18

@minkies11 ah sometimes the temptation is just too much😂 no judgement here!!

Loving this post, thank you for sharing your fab knowledge.

I have ginger hair but quite a lot of grey now, my hairdresser has lightened it to more of a strawberry blonde which makes the grey less noticeable, however I get a dark stripe of regrowth after just a couple of weeks, I also think it washes me out a bit.

What should I be asking for so the regrowth is less noticeable but also hides the grey a bit?

Balayage, highlights? I have no idea but I'm fed up and almost 40 with a confidence crisis!

Minkies11 · 27/04/2019 22:27

@Lorelei - wouldn't have been too bad but I can't even draw a straight line let alone cut one Grin It's a chunky bi-layered effing lopsided look!

LorelaiRoryEmily · 27/04/2019 22:44

@WhyKnot I would say you probably need to darken it slightly. Go back maybe halfway between the strawberry blonde and what your natural colour is. It would reduce the contrast between your regrowth and coloured ends. What I would do though if you find the regrowth too much is go back as close as you can to your natural colour and add some blonde hilites, fine ones, to camouflage the grey a little. There’s no real magic for it but ask your hairdresser what they think of that idea?

@Minkies11 it sounds very interesting! I have a client who tried to trim her 3 year olds waist length hair. She tried so many time to straighten up the cut that it ended up a very short lopsided bob/pageboy depending on which side you were looking at😂 poor kid

Thank you Thanks I'm having it done next week, so will message that to her beforehand.

Artesia · 27/04/2019 23:08

This is such a brilliant thread- have learned loads! Thanks OP

Another question if that’s ok?! I have straight hair in an inverted Bob with a side parting, but I really struggle with the front of it. Since I had kids, my hairline seems to have got lower and it’s heavy at the front, so I just kept tucking it behind my ear, which doesn’t look great. I had a side fringe cut in, but I have a really annoying cows lick, so no matter how long I spend on drying and straightening it, any hint of humidity it pops up again!

I guess the question is what cut would you recommend for a low hairline with a cows lick 🐄 👅?!

Thank you!!!

LorelaiRoryEmily · 28/04/2019 22:37

@Artesia you just described my hairline and cows lick. My hair is wavy though, i always wear it straight and I find it what sits best is an A-line bob collar bone length with some long layers and a tiny bit of shape around the face, from jawline down. Sits great and doesn’t look too heavy and pretty easy to manage!

Lorelai what do you think about this range?

I nearly bought some today and then I thought you'd said elevive wasn't great and that no shampoo can make your hair grow? I decided not to buy the Lee Stamford range as low reviews.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 30/04/2019 17:53

@Sunshinecake no shampoo will make your hair grow in my opinion. Hair growth happens from inside, what you see on the outside is already dead! Those kind of shampoos can improve the condition of what hair you do have and personally I prefer professional products!😊

That's what I thought. Thank you.

My hair has changed recently and I'm still getting to grips with it.

pinklemonade84 · 01/05/2019 21:12

@LorelaiRoryEmily I'm loving this thread, thank you so much

I had my hair cut today by a mobile hairdresser that came with lots of recommendations and I now feel really deflated with the result. My hair was too thin for the style that I wanted and now I feel like it's too short to do anything with.

Do you have any tips for how to style it and recommendations products wise that won't leave it crispy and dry please?

Thank you xx

Hello @Lorelai I think an insta is an awesomeness idea. You've answered so many questions I've thought about previously and had no idea.

Now for me... I'm 6 months post partum and am shedding hair by the handful. It seems to be going mainly from my temples and all the new growth is white. I know there's nothing I can do to stop it, bit the white regrowth is wiry and stands up from my head in all directions. Plus, my hair is now really greasy, which it's never been before. Any suggestions for how to ride this out would be great, my hair is long with a loose wave.

I know colour is supposed to help mask grey, but I've had about 4 years of disastrous salon colouring so have had no new colour for 2 years and everything has almost grown out. I'm scared of trying again and ending up with stripes of gold when what I asked for was a really light selection of cool highlights in a balyage style. I showed pictures and everything! When she took the foils of she blanched and said "oh no" and started talking about me coming in for a weekly toner. I didn't. I just cried. Now I'm back to light brown with a scattering of grey and I'm reluctant to go through that again. Help!

Crochetcrochetcrochet · 04/05/2019 21:21

Wow! That was long, sorry. And I forgot to include a please or thank you as you're giving up loads of your time with this. So thank you.
