Since there have been a few hair related threads lately I thought people might have questions.

Ah thank you so much! I’ve ordered the primer, mask and shampoo. I use olaplex one a week too! I’m fully expecting a no on this but I’m worried about the use bleach on my roots every 6 weeks. Now that it’s light all over, could I use a box dye at home? Schwartzkopf do one called pearl blonde that I love, could I use that or will it ruin the lightness I’ve got now?

LorelaiRoryEmily · 23/04/2019 21:38

@Redken24 oh yay! I’m delighted. You’re more than welcome😀

@Princessfaffalot great! You’ll love them. Amazing products.

Re the home dye, honestly, I wouldn’t. Schwarzkopf and Schwarzkopf professional are two different companies. It won’t be the same quality as salon colour and it definitely won’t lighten as much as bleach.

Chances are it will make the roots brassy and the ends grey(and not a nice grey)
If you are concerned about all the bleaching talk to your hairdresser and see what they suggest?

I thought as much, thank you for confirming! I only have the roots bleached now so with decent product and regular trims I think condition will improve! Thank you Flowers

Hi there, I have shoulder length hair with a fringe, I hate straigening and styling my hair is the type that flicks out I want a short style that's easy to manage as I'm a mum to two soon to be three any recomendations?
Thanks

LorelaiRoryEmily · 23/04/2019 22:24

@Princessfaffsalot no problem at all! It definitely will improve with those products and having it coloured and cut regularly.

@Flamingosnbears I always like the meg Ryan shortish flicky out style, something that sits just above collarbone length is flattering on most people and make sure to keep length at the front for softness and femininity. Good luck with the baby😊

Hi op, you are being lovely with your posts, mine's a fairly boring question!

I have fine brunette hair, grown dye out and starting to grey. Olive grey hair so I'm more than happy with my cobwebs haha, but, due to being fine, my hair can look a bit limp or lifeless.

The thickening shampoos don't do much (they can make it feel clogged up!) and at the moment I'm using Fudge cool brunette to minimise red or coppery tones in my hair.

Is there a good shampoo, conditioner or hair mask or even natural conditioner you could recommend to make it look a bit happier?

Thank you!

JoyceDivision · 23/04/2019 22:33

Forgot to add the length / shape is just reaching a jaw length inverted short bob after growing out a pixieSmile

LorelaiRoryEmily · 23/04/2019 22:41

@JoyceDivision Hi! Thank you😊 I often find that the lack of colour in fine hair can make it look thinner. That’s a big reason that a lot of women keep colouring even though they don’t mind the grey. Good colour just give it that little extra.

However! If you don’t want to go back to colouring try the volume boost in the Schwarzkopf BC range. Avoid conditioner unless you really need it and don’t let it get too long.

It’s possible that part of the reason you’re finding it limp is that it’s just gotten longish again after a pixie and shorter styles like that look fuller.

A good volumising shampoo like the Bc one and a good volumising moose(they used to do a fab one so have a look for it, probably still do)

Thickening products in my opinion are a con job. Big fat waste of money

Are Kérastase overrated? If not, which of their lines would be good for fine (but thick), heat processed, slightly damaged hair? Thank you!

JoyceDivision · 23/04/2019 22:51

Thankyou, will check them out!

ImTakingTheEssence · 23/04/2019 22:54

I grew out my bleached blonde hair and had to cut it off in the end into a very short bob as it was damaged. I thought this would help but since its shorted i feel im straightnening it more washing it more etc. In the end i dyed it a dark brown which looks black. I feel like i've royally messed my hair up. Ive been using coconut oil to condition it but feel the colour doesnt suit me im very pale and don't know where to go from here any suggestions??

Flamingosnbears · 24/04/2019 08:04

@LorelaiRoryEmily
Thankyou so much for your advice I'll bare it in mind, I was thinking of a short shag style so you hit the nail on the head with your advice. Thanks again😊

LorelaiRoryEmily · 24/04/2019 10:07

@Sagradafamiliar kerastase is a great brand. I’m not familiar with al the different ranges within it anymore though so pop into a salon that sells it and they’ll be happy to advise

LorelaiRoryEmily · 24/04/2019 10:10

@ImtakingtheEssence I think leaving it alone for a little while would be best. Ditch the coconut oil and invest in Schwarzkopf BC fibre force. It’s made for the exact kind of problem you have. Over processed and heat damaged hair.

Personally I would advise you to get the condition sorted and when you feel it’s improved make an appt someone you’re confident trusting and get their advice. You can certainly colour again just make sure it’s strong first. More options that way

This is one of my favourite AMAs ever!!

So I have natural super curly hair and have now embraced it and love it!

I find the curly girl method works really well for me but a cheeky coupllittle of questions if you can spare any time, have put pics to help explain them:

  1. How can I get the very top of my hair to be as curly as the rest? Hopefully you can see what I mean in the first pic. It seems to be less of an issue when my hair is shorter (assume less weight pulling it down?!) but I love it long.
  1. Also I wear it in buns / disco buns / pigtails and mainly high ponies like pic 2 when I can't be bothered to wash it as still recovering from arm surgery - is this damaging my hair long term? At the moment I do it maybe 4 days a week.

And finally not a question but to give people a laugh - pic 3 is what happens when you let your seven year old cousin brush your curly, hair when it's dry. I know. She wore me down.

I don't know if i was more annoyed at the result or the fact she didn't know who hagrid is. She now does. And finds that picture even funnier 😂

DaisyStarburst · 24/04/2019 15:00

ooItsAoBeautifulDayNow my hair is exactly like yours, the picture did make me laugh, mine is grey now, used to be a redhead but yes at Hagrid if brushed!! Mine has gone thinner and straighter since the menopause, so is straight at the top like yours but have had it longer and still been curlier all over when I was younger, I don't dye it.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 24/04/2019 15:34

@ooitsAobeautifulDayNow
Your hair is fab! The curl on top is more than likely just an issue of weight. The longer your hair is the more weight to pull it down and flatten the top. You could try layering slightly to see if that helps with the curl on top.

Wearing it up is fine! Just make sure it’s not too tight. If it’s very tight and you do it very regularly you can actually recede your hairline. So just not too tight and no rubber bands!

DD used a semi - permanent black on her hair about 6 months ago. She's desperate to get rid of it now. It's now orange with black streaks. We've tried a few internet remedies - like vitamin c crushed in head and shoulders. It's not shifting. Things like colour b4 won't work as it's the wrong type of dye. Any suggestions? Can't get it professionally stripped out as she's under 16. Thank you

chocolover12 · 25/04/2019 16:02

Hi my hair is naturally black and I wanted to go medium to light brown, I use a a hair dye at home today which was ash light blonde and it's gone orangey coppery, especially at the roots. Can I dye it a warmer darker brown without it turning green? I used the colour on virgin hair .Will it take ? I don't want to wait the 4 weeks recommended time. And once it is darker will it be harder to lighten again a little in the summer myself? Also my greys are coarse and no colour ever takes to them, any recommendations?
Thanks so much

RomanyQueen1 · 25/04/2019 16:10

I've been but can't do a picture atm.
Will do when someone comes home who knows what they are doing.

Vicky Queen of Curls / McCory hair in Manchester.
Absolutely fabulous and can really recommend.
great service, lovely people and fab cut.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 25/04/2019 18:47

@welshmum3 why won’t the hairdresser do it? That’s crazy! Your best bet honestly would be finding someone who’s willing to do it professionally for you. There are no home products strong enough to help. I’m sorry I can’t give you an easy solution but professional is the only way to goz

LorelaiRoryEmily · 25/04/2019 18:48

@chocolatelover12 pictures please! I can help for sure but I need to see it!!

My hairdresser said she couldn't do it for an under 16 by law. No idea what law.
