I’ve got to hide this topic

Bandyknock · 11/01/2019 22:44

Why do you have to hide it???

PurpleWithRed · 11/01/2019 22:44

What are the differences between your non traveller dh and a traveller dh?

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 22:46

@rainbowsss through fb, but my best friend knew him

What is your ethnicity, and are your family happy for you?

Curious about ethnicity as my grandad was the son of settled travellers and he was Romany.

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 22:49

@PurpleWithRed oh there's lots, my husband now helps me out loads ( with the kids and house) travelling men don't really do much with the family, they see it more as a woman's job

What do you think about travellers pitching up on random spaces - parks grassland - have they a right to do this or do you think it's wrong?

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 22:51

@GummyGoddess Romany, my great grandparents came to England from Romania during the 2nd world war

What do you think about how travellers are often presented on tv shows and in the press? Is there any truth in it or is it highly exaggerated?

How long have you been married? Do you find that the differences in your backgrounds ever causes any issues in your marriage?

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 22:54

@daffodilbrain I see no problem with it as long as they leave the area clean and tidy and as they left found it.when I was at home (before I married) my mum and dad travelled and we always cleaned up after ourselves, most do even now but there's a small minority that don't

SoleBizzz · 11/01/2019 22:55

Do you watch The Peaky Blinders?

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 22:57

@GummyGoddess forgot to answer your first question.. my family wasn't happy at first, but I'd been on my own with my kids for a long time and they saw that he treated me well and now their fine with it

KennDodd · 11/01/2019 22:59

Can you speak the travellers language? What's it called, I can't remember?

How much of a travellers life do you have?
Do you work?
Do you live in a house or fixed site mobile home?
Are you Catholic?

Thank you for this thread. I could ask you a million questions. Smile

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 23:01

@newestbridearound I can't watch things about travellers on tv I cringe every time 90% of it is fake and there's no truth in it, but I suppose if they showed the truth then it wouldn't make good tv lol

We've been married 8 years and no not any yet

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 23:02

@SoleBizzz no!! But my daughter is and she says it's great, I'll have to give it a go

You imply your children are from a previous relationship (is that right?) we're you unmarried when you had them? I believe this causes great shame in travellers communities?

KennDodd · 11/01/2019 23:05

Sorry! Grammar!

uhtredsonofuhtred · 11/01/2019 23:07

@KennDodd I live in a house (have done for the past 14 years) and I'm Baptised Christian but rarely go to church

I still live very much as a traveller, I still have the views and beliefs I just don't travel anymore and have settled in a house, and I can still speak the language but I never do, don't know why I just don't
