@anotheroriginalusername - I'm inclined to agree with your post.

NoNotheresnolyrics · 13/07/2018 17:51

Why do travellers leave mess everywhere for other people to clean up?

TakeABreak2 · 13/07/2018 17:54

sounds like your grandma had good taste-wink

She did that. She spent a lifetime cooking and cleaning and if she ever got fed up dishing up two homecooked meals every day for 60 years she never showed it. She had a huge cast iron frying pan and I can remember her almost nursing the food that was in it. It was never left to look after itself, it was loving tended, and it’s probably why it tasted so good.

A lot of the things you’ve said have taken me back years to very happy times. We were Irish for a very long time. Far longer than the 4 generations we’ve been something else.

I’ve been so far down memory lane on this thread. Thank you.

I’m thinking of the amount of times I’ve made a stew or mince and I’ve had so many ‘pieces ‘n’ dip’ before everyone got home there’s been no gravy left for anyone and I’ve quickly had to Dr it up with instant stuff.

Floradoranora · 13/07/2018 19:13

10 days to dubai

come with them next time and I'll make a wee journey across the border to meet you.

cuppaandcake · 13/07/2018 19:24

You would probably b more alone in a house. Lease in a trailer you can open your door and everyone there in the yard and a community etc

I do actually wonder a lot about child welfare. I admit that I reported the incident with the children in the shopping trolley in the car park. The baby looked like it’s head had been smashed open and the eldest girl was obviously trying her best to be responsible for the other 5, but she only looked about 10 and was running away from any adult trying to help her and was bleeding herself. We were begging her to let us help her, or get her mum, or get their wounds seen to and she just ran off dragging the kids away. I was so worried that she would be in “trouble” for letting harm come to them when really no child should be left with a shopping trolley playing in a busy retail car park next to a dual carriageway, especially supervising 5 other really little ones.

How would they ever have found this family, they moved on the next day. OP has the issue of child welfare ever come up with people you know? If so, how did they keep up with SS as well as travelling?

cuppaandcake · 13/07/2018 19:38

although have arged about dv i have admitted that its does happen - my mil being one and ss did get involved when she rang the police on her dh.. they kept up to date with her easily and of course seen there was no harm to the children then after a while discharged her!

@TakeaBreak2 - this was 15-ish years ago so I'm struggling to remember exactly, but yes I think it was very close to the A1. How funny!

Limpopobongo · 13/07/2018 20:28

What are your views on this? I believe the Wards are well known amongst the travelling community.
