What were your first impressions of the washer dryer?

"My first impression was that it looked functional, clean and modern. It’s slightly bigger than my previous washing machine, but not so big that it feels intrusive in the kitchen."

What’s it like to use day-to-day?

"Day-to-day, it’s very easy to use. It’s much quieter than my old washing machine and has a much wider range of functions. The biggest difference is how clean the clothes feel afterwards, my clothes look noticeably better with this washer dryer.

"I tend to use the Mixed Load cycle most often, which runs for just under an hour and suits our household well. Most of the other cycles lean towards the longer side, which can be off-putting when you want things done quickly. There’s a short Air Wash option that runs for around 15 minutes, but it doesn’t meaningfully clean clothes, so I haven’t found it especially useful.

"The dryer function has been handy to have as the colder months roll in, but I don’t use it often. The shortest cycle I’ve been able to use was about two hours, which feels like a long time to have a machine running for a few items."

How well does the Samsung Series 5 clean your clothes?

"It cleans really well and I’ve been pleased with the results. Everyday laundry comes out fresh and properly clean. Noise-wise, it’s quiet for most of the cycle. It does get louder near the end — usually the last 15 minutes — but otherwise it’s unobtrusive."

Samsung’s signature ecobubble™ technology is also built into this model. It works by mixing detergent with air and water before the cycle begins, creating a bubbly foam that penetrates fabrics more quickly than standard detergent alone. In practice, this means clothes can be cleaned effectively at lower temperatures, helping to protect colours and fibres while using less energy overall. It’s particularly useful for everyday loads where you want a thorough clean without defaulting to a hot wash, and is one of the features that sets Samsung’s mid-range machines apart from more basic washer dryers.

What are the best features of this washer dryer?

"The biggest benefit for me is the space saving aspect. Having both washer and dryer in one place is brilliant in a smaller home. I also like how easy it is to keep clean, and the wide range of cycles means there’s usually something suitable for whatever I’m washing."

What’s one thing you’d change?

"I’d shorten the dryer cycles. Two hours feels too long for a quick drying job. I’d also like a shorter quick wash option, maybe around 30 minutes, for when you just need something freshened up fast."

Final verdict

The Samsung Series 5 ecobubble™ WD80TA046BE is a solid, reliable washer dryer that does a noticeably better job at washing than an older machine, without adding extra fuss. Its quiet performance, modern appearance and space-saving design make it a good fit for small and busy households alike.

While the long dryer cycles and limited quick wash functionality may frustrate some, they are standard for a mid-price washer dryer in 2025. The overall cleaning performance, range of functions and ease of use make it good value for families who want a simple, dependable washer dryer.
