Momcozy V2 Pro Breast Pump review: all you need for powerful, hands-free pumping at home

We tried out the new Momcozy V2 Pro Wearable Breast pump with our new mum tester Sarah, who put it through its paces a few times a day over a testing period of several weeks. She compared it directly to the V1 Pro, as well as a Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature electric pump and a manual pump; here's what she thought.

Overall rating:
What we like
  • Strong suction once set up correctly

  • Lots of settings for stimulation and pumping

  • Sturdy, hard-wearing feel overall

  • Battery lasted around two days of regular use

  • No leaking during use

  • Can be used with any bottle

  • Dishwasher-safe parts help with cleaning

  • Our tester preferred it to her other pumps, saying she found the slimmer remote easier than the bulkier V1 Pro remote and that it was a lot more powerful than her electric and manual pumps

What we don't like
  • Assembly isn’t very intuitive

  • Bulky under a bra and awkward to transport

  • Not discreet enough for work or public use

  • Some parts, like the seal and tubing, feel flimsy if not fitted carefully

  • Only one size of breast shield available

Our verdict

The Momcozy V2 Pro is a solid, powerful hands-free breast pump that works well once you’ve got the hang of it. Sarah rated performance and durability highly and felt it was a big step up from both a manual pump and the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature pump she previously used

“It’s not the easiest to set up, but once it’s on properly the suction is really good,” she said. “I liked being able to turn the strength up and pump more quickly.”

Although the pump's teardrop design is supposed to fit neatly in a bra and remain fully concealed, Sarah found that it was too bulky to go unnoticed and said she wouldn't feel comfortable using in public. But for easy, hands-free milk pumping at home, Sarah found the V2 Pro reliable, comfortable and good value for money.

Bottom line: If you mainly pump at home and want strong suction, lots of settings and a battery that keeps going, the Momcozy V2 Pro is a reliable upgrade on both the V1 and more basic electric or manual pumps. It’s not discreet and it takes a bit of learning, but once set up properly it does the job well and feels like good value for money.

How we tested the Momcozy V2 Pro breast pump

Mum-of-one Sarah used the V2 Pro multiple times a day over a testing time period of several weeks to express milk for her newborn baby, who was aged just two weeks when she started using the pump. During testing she paid close attention to how well the pump fitted, ease of set up and use, ease of cleaning, noise levels and overall comfort. She then provided notes on a series of questions as well as providing scores for a carefully curated scoring process. During the testing period, Sarah also used the Momcozy V1 Pro pump, to which she directly compared the V2, as well as a Tommee Tippee electric pump and a manual pump.

What is included with the Momcozy V2 Pro?

  • Twin pump

  • Remote hand control unit

  • Three different size flange inserts

  • Charging cable

  • Nipple measurement tool

How easy was the pump to set up for first use?

Sarah liked the overall design but noted it needed assembling before first use. “My first impression was that it looked to be good quality, but you do have to put it together before you can use it.”

She went on to explain that while there were instructions included, Sarah found them tricky to follow. "I had to watch videos to help with the assembly."

How comfortable is the V2 Pro?

Sarah rated comfort and fit highly once the pump was positioned correctly. “It sits quite big under your bra, so it does take some getting used to.”

Any discomfort felt when using the V2 Pro was usually down to incorrect positioning, which made a big difference to Sarah's pumping experience.

What is the suction like?

With a suction level of up to 288 mmHg, the V2 Pro pips the popular Momcozy M5 to the post for strength, though it's not quite as powerful as the likes of Elvie Stride 2 and the Eufy S1 Pro which both offer up to 300 mmHg.

“I found the suction strength really good once I got the right flange size fit,” Sarah said. There are lots of stimulation and pumping settings, which she liked. “I tended to use a higher setting so I could pump in less time.”

She did need to readjust occasionally to maintain suction, especially if moving slightly.

How hands-free is the V2 Pro pump?

“Fairly hands-free if it’s fitted properly under a bra,” Sarah said. That said, it’s not a pump you can forget you’re wearing. The V2 Pro’s smaller remote was a clear improvement over the V1 Pro, which Sarah found more awkward.

How discreet is the V2 Pro?

Although the V2 Pro is designed to fit discreetly in a bra, Sarah found that while noise levels were reasonable, she "wouldn't feel comfortable using it in an office or outside the house."

How portable is the V2 Pro?

"It can be a bit awkward," reported Sarah. "Especially to transport. The V2 Pro is easier to use on the move than the V1 Pro thanks to the smaller remote, but it's still quite bulky."

Does the V2 Pro pump leak?

Sarah said that she did not experience any leaking at all during testing.

How sturdy is the V2 Pro?

"It feels very sturdy overall," said Sarah, adding that she would be happy taking it out in a bag without worrying about it breaking. “The seal can feel a bit flimsy if it’s not fitted properly, and the plastic tube bends easily."

How easy is it to clean?

Parts were washed after each use and sterilised daily. “There are a lot of parts to clean,” Sarah said, “but some can go in the dishwasher, which helps.”

How is the battery life with the V2 Pro?

Sarah found that when using the pump everyday she needed to charge it every two days or so.

Value for money

Compared with the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature and a manual pump, Sarah felt the Momcozy V2 Pro was better in terms of suction, battery life and flexibility. She also preferred it to the Momcozy V1 Pro thanks to the smaller remote and easier handling.

Given the RRP, she felt it represented good value for money, especially for parents who mainly pump at home and want strong, adjustable suction without being tied to the wall.
