Our verdict

If you're looking for a wearable breast pump that offers a little more convenience than an entry-level model, the Momcozy S12 Pro strikes a good balance between performance and practicality.

Parent tester Amy used the Momcozy S12 Pro while expressing milk for her seven-month-old daughter and found it delivered a very similar pumping experience to the Momcozy S9 Pro, but with a handful of features that made daily use feel noticeably smoother. The built-in timer, pause function and quieter operation were all additions she appreciated, particularly as expressing became part of her regular routine.

She says, “The pumps are portable and easy to operate. They fit comfortably into a nursing bra and hold up to 200ml which is ideal for pumping twice a day.”

Amy found the S12 Pro reliable for maintaining her expressing routine and liked being able to monitor pumping time and battery life on the display, while the pause function gave her more control during sessions.

The S12 Pro isn’t without drawbacks. Amy found the initial setup fiddlier than expected, saying, “They were very fiddly to assemble the first time but I got the hang of it.” She also felt that, while wearable, it wasn’t something she would use while bending, lifting her daughter or doing anything too active. Discretion was also limited, with Amy noting it isn’t particularly subtle when worn.

Overall, Amy says she would recommend the Momcozy S12 Pro to other parents, describing it as “mostly straightforward to use.” While it won’t completely replace a traditional breast pump for everyone, the combination of wearable convenience, useful extra features and reliable performance makes it a strong step up from the S9 Pro for mums who express regularly.

Mum using the Momcozy S12 Pro

The Momcozy S12 Pro is a wearable double breast pump that comes with everything you need to get started, including a nipple measuring tool and storage lids.

How we tested the Momcozy S12 Pro breast pump

Amy tested the Momcozy S12 Pro while expressing milk for her seven-month-old daughter as she transitioned from breastfeeding to bottle feeding. She used the wearable breast pump regularly over several weeks, typically pumping twice a day and incorporating sessions into her normal daily routine at home.

Testing focused on real-life use rather than structured sessions, allowing Amy to assess how the Momcozy S12 Pro performed during everyday family life. She evaluated everything from comfort and suction strength to battery life, cleaning and ease of use, while also comparing it directly with the Momcozy S9 Pro, which she had previously tested.

Once testing was complete, Amy scored the Momcozy S12 Pro across a range of key criteria including performance, ease of use, comfort, battery life, hygiene and value for money. It achieved a total score of 70 out of 100, which equates to a four-star rating.

Momcozy S12 Pro box contents

The Momcozy S12 Pro comes with two wearable pumps, charging cables, storage lids and a nipple measuring tool.

What's in the box?

Included in the box with the Momcozy S12 Pro are:

  • 2 x Momcozy S12 Pro wearable breast pump units

  • 2 x charging cables

  • User guide

  • Installation guide

  • Nipple measuring tool

  • 2 x storage lids

One thing Amy noticed straight away was that, unlike the Momcozy S9 Pro, the S12 Pro doesn't come with multiple flange inserts included as standard (these are available separately). Instead, you get a nipple measuring guide to help determine the correct size before purchasing additional inserts if needed.

While the measuring tool is useful for finding the right fit, it's worth factoring in the potential extra cost if you require a flange size that's not included with the pump.

How easy is it to assemble and use for the first time?

Amy found there was a bit of a learning curve when setting up the Momcozy S12 Pro for the first time. While the pump itself is straightforward to operate once assembled, getting familiar with how the different components fit together took a little patience initially.

As Amy explains, “They were very fiddly to assemble the first time, but I got the hang of it after a few uses. The diagrams in the guide only help to a point.”

To make things easier, she recommends assembling and disassembling one pump first before attempting both together, as this helped her understand how the different parts connected and fitted into place.

Finding the correct flange size is also an important part of the setup process. The S12 Pro includes a nipple measuring tool and sizing guide to help parents identify the most suitable fit before pumping.

Once everything was correctly assembled and fitted, Amy found the Momcozy S12 Pro straightforward to operate and easy to incorporate into her expressing routine.

What's it like to use day to day?

Once she’d settled into a routine, Amy found the Momcozy S12 Pro straightforward to use for regular expressing sessions. The display shows battery life, pumping time and suction level, making it easy to keep track of everything while pumping.

Like many wearable pumps, there was a bit of trial and error at the beginning while she worked out which settings suited her best. As Amy explains, “I tried out a few different intensity levels in the first few days of using the pump and then settled on a level that was comfortable.”

Amy also appreciated the built-in timer, which meant she didn't need to use her phone to keep track of sessions. While the pump is designed to allow movement during use, she found it worked best when she was relaxing rather than trying to do too much at once.

For transferring milk afterwards, Amy preferred not to use the pouring spout built into the collector. Instead, she found it easier to remove part of the flange and pour directly into a sterilised container.

Having tested both models, Amy found the overall expressing experience surprisingly similar, with both pumps offering wearable, hands-free pumping and comparable milk output. The biggest differences came down to convenience rather than performance.

As mentioned, the S12 Pro includes a built-in timer and a pause function, both of which Amy found genuinely useful during everyday use. She also noticed it was quieter than the S9 Pro, making it a little less noticeable around the house.

As Amy explains, "This model has a pause function unlike the S9, and I noticed that these were slightly quieter than the S9 too." The S12 Pro also adds a third pumping mode, alongside the stimulation and expression settings found on the S9 Pro, giving parents a little more flexibility to tailor sessions.

That said, Amy didn't feel the S12 Pro completely transformed the experience. Both pumps were similarly comfortable once fitted correctly, both required a bit of patience to assemble initially and both felt best suited to light movement rather than more active tasks.

For Amy, the choice largely comes down to whether those extra convenience features are worth the additional cost. If you plan to express regularly, the timer, pause function and quieter operation make the S12 Pro feel like the better option, however the budget-friendly option is the S9 Pro.

How powerful is the suction?

Amy found the suction strength on the Momcozy S12 Pro more than sufficient for her needs and was able to express comfortably without needing to use the highest settings. As she explains, “It was powerful enough for me. I could use it on a medium setting quite reliably and the longer I pumped the more I could produce.”

The Momcozy S12 Pro offers three pumping modes: Stimulation, Expression and Mixed, along with nine adjustable suction levels, allowing parents to tailor sessions to their comfort and preferences. The Stimulation mode is designed to encourage let-down, while Expression mode uses slower, deeper pulls to remove milk. Mixed mode combines both approaches and is intended to help maximise output.

With a maximum suction strength of up to 295 mmHg, the S12 Pro is one of the more powerful wearable breast pumps on the market. Despite this, Amy found she achieved good results using the middle settings rather than needing to push the pump to its highest intensity levels.

How comfortable is it to wear?

Amy found the Momcozy S12 Pro generally comfortable once it was fitted correctly, though there was a short adjustment period at first. “The pumps fit comfortably inside any nursing bra although they are a bit bulky, so it takes some getting used to,” she explains.

As with most wearable pumps, getting the right fit made a noticeable difference to comfort. Amy highlighted that choosing the correct flange size was important, and she sometimes needed to pause briefly at the start of a session to reposition the pump, so it sat more comfortably.

Once in place, she found it worked best when worn with a supportive nursing bra that kept everything secure and stable, as this helped reduce any movement between the pump and breast during use.

Compared with entry-level wearable pumps like the S9 Pro, Amy felt the S12 Pro offered a slightly more refined feel, particularly in how the soft silicone cups sat against the skin.

That said, she was clear that it’s still a fairly noticeable wearable pump in practice, and not something that disappears under clothing, something worth bearing in mind depending on where and how you plan to use it.

How hands-free is it?

“You can move around while using them, but they are somewhat bulky,” Amy explains, and she found this did limit how hands-free they felt in practice. She was comfortable using them while sitting down, but didn’t really use them for anything more active, particularly tasks involving bending or picking up her daughter.

For the most secure, hands-free fit, Amy found a supportive, stretchy nursing bra worked best - ideally a full-coverage style that holds everything firmly in place without gaps, as this helps keep the pump stable during use.

That said, she did find them useful for being out and about in a general sense, including taking them on holiday. She noted they’re relatively light to pack, although the wider feeding kit (including bottles, spare parts and sterilising equipment) does add up when travelling.

Is it prone to leaking?

Amy didn’t find leaking to be a major issue with the Momcozy S12 Pro and said it was only something she experienced in specific situations rather than during normal use. “No, only when the pumps were very full or in the early days when I hadn’t quite got the knack of putting them together,” she explains.

She also noted that positioning plays a role, as the pumps can leak if they’re tipped or turned upside down due to the milk outlet design. Amy had a similar experience with the S9 Pro, suggesting this is more likely to come down to setup and handling rather than a design flaw with the pump itself.

"This model is slightly noisier than the S9 Pro although you can still comfortably have a conversation or watch TV"

How noisy is it?

The Momcozy S12 Pro is designed as a low-noise wearable breast pump, and Amy found it reasonably discreet during everyday use. “This model is slightly noisier than the S9 Pro although you can still comfortably have a conversation or watch TV,” she says.

In practice, she felt it was fine for general use around the house, but not something she would choose to use in very quiet moments, such as when trying to settle a baby to sleep.

For comparison, the Medela Motion InBra Breast Pump is notably quieter in use, making it a more discreet option overall, although it comes at a higher price point (around £200 for a double pump compared with roughly £140 for the S12 Pro).

What is the battery life like?

Amy found the battery life very good, describing it as similar to the S9 Pro and a strong point of this Momcozy model. “… I only needed to charge them once a week depending on how long I used them for,” she says, using both pumps once a day. It also proved particularly useful when using it on the go, as it meant she didn’t need to worry about frequent recharging.

Momcozy S12 parts

The Momcozy S12 Pro has several removable parts that need to be washed and sterilised after each pumping session.

How easy is it to clean?

During testing, Amy opted to clean the pump by hand, saying: “I chose to handwash the pump with washing up liquid and hot water and then use a cold sterilising bath.”

In practice, cleaning involves taking the pump apart after each use and washing the milk-contact parts thoroughly in warm soapy water. These components can then be sterilised using a cold-water sterilising solution or a standard steriliser, depending on what parents prefer. As with most wearable pumps, it does require a bit of routine maintenance after each session, but Amy found the process manageable once she got into a rhythm.

Is it good value for money?

Yes, overall, Amy found the Momcozy S12 Pro to be an effective and convenient wearable breast pump that made expressing easier to fit into everyday life. It offered strong suction, very good battery life and useful extras like the built-in timer and pause function, which made it feel more convenient than other wearable pumps she’s used.

Although she found it a little bulky and slightly fiddly to assemble at first, it became straightforward to use with a bit of practice. It also isn’t the most discreet option, but the hands-free, portable design still made it useful during busy days and the transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding.

While replacement parts and additional flange sizes can add to the long-term cost, Amy still felt it represents good value overall for a wearable pump at this level. Between the two models she tested, she slightly preferred the S12 Pro to the S9 Pro thanks to its added convenience features, particularly the timer and pause function.
