Our verdict

If you're squeezing pumping sessions into naps, mealtimes and the endless list of jobs that come with a baby, the Momcozy S9 Pro breast pump offers a more flexible way to express milk without being tied to a wall.

Parent tester, Amy used the Momcozy S9 Pro daily for eight weeks while expressing milk for her seven-month-old daughter and found it made the shift from breastfeeding to bottle feeding feel much more manageable. Being able to move around while pumping was a key benefit of this wearable breast pump, particularly during busy days at home.

Performance was another strong point. Amy found the suction level more than sufficient for her needs, often using mid-range settings and noticing output increased the longer she expressed. She said, “It was powerful enough for me. I could use it on a medium setting quite reliably and the longer I pumped the more milk I produced.”

Amy also found the battery life dependable, rarely needing to think about charging between sessions. There are a few drawbacks. Amy found initial setup more complicated than expected and says, “They were very fiddly to assemble the first time, but I got the hang of it after a few uses.” She also missed having a built-in timer and felt it was slightly noisier than the Momcozy S12 Pro which she also tested.

What stands out most is how it supported her feeding journey. Amy explained, “It’s been nice to transition to bottle feeding my daughter knowing she is still having the benefits of my milk.” She also found it helpful for understanding her supply more clearly and easing into a gradual change in feeding routine.

Overall, Amy described the Momcozy S9 Pro as a reliable, good-value hands-free pump that made expressing much more convenient.

How we tested the Momcozy S9 Pro breast pump

Amy tested the Momcozy S9 Pro daily for eight weeks, using it to express milk for her daughter as she transitioned from breastfeeding to bottle feeding. She used it once a day on most days, fitting pumping sessions around naps, feeding times and general day-to-day life.

Testing mainly took place at home, where Amy used the wearable breast pump for regular expressing sessions and gradually became more confident with the setup, suction settings and flange sizing. She also trialled it across different routines, including shorter and longer pumping sessions, to see how it performed in real-life conditions rather than structured use.

Once testing was complete, Amy scored the Momcozy S9 Pro across a range of key criteria including performance, ease of use, comfort, battery life, hygiene and value for money. It achieved a total score of 70 out of 100, which equates to a four-star rating.

How easy is it to assemble and use for the first time?

Amy found the Momcozy S9 Pro took a bit of patience at the start, particularly when it came to working out how the different parts fitted together. The assembly process wasn’t immediately intuitive, and she recommends taking time to set up one pump first before attempting both together to avoid confusion.

Amy also spent a little time working out which flange size to use, helped by the included measuring tool and sizing guide. Once she had everything assembled correctly, the process felt much more straightforward. As Amy explains, “They were very fiddly to assemble the first time, but I got the hang of it after a few uses.”

The LCD screen and simple button layout helped once she became familiar with the pump, making it easier to switch between modes and adjust suction levels without having to stop and reset everything.

What’s it like to use day to day?

Once Amy had got past the initial setup stage, the Momcozy S9 Pro quickly slotted into her daily routine. The wearable design sits inside a nursing bra and allows for hands-free pumping, making it easier to fit expressing around everyday life with a baby. As Amy says, “The pumps are portable and easy to operate.” Each collection cup holds up to 180ml, which she found was more than enough for her usual expressing sessions.

This model offers two modes with multiple suction levels, and Amy quickly settled into a routine after a bit of early experimentation. She adjusted settings in the first few days before finding a level that felt right and appreciated that the pump remembers previous settings for the next session.

The LCD screen made it easier to keep track of what was happening during use, including battery status and suction level, without needing to stop and reset anything. Amy also found the automatic 30-minute shut-off helpful when she chose to leave it running for a full session.

How powerful is the suction?

Pretty good. In fact, Amy was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the Momcozy S9 Pro, finding it more powerful than she initially expected from a wearable design. After a short period of trial and adjustment, she settled into using the mid-range settings, which felt effective without being uncomfortable.

She explains, “It was powerful enough for me. I could use it on a medium setting quite reliably and the longer I pumped the more milk I produced.”

In practice, Amy found she didn’t really need to rely on the stimulation mode, instead using the expression setting for most sessions once she’d found her rhythm. She also noticed that output improved the longer each session ran, particularly as she became more familiar with her routine and settings.

How comfortable is the Momcozy S9 Pro?

Once Amy had found the right flange size, she found the Momcozy S9 Pro comfortable to wear for regular daily expressing. There was a short adjustment period at the start while she worked out the best fit and positioning, but once she'd found the right setup, the pumps felt much more natural to wear during longer sessions. She noted that getting the sizing right made a clear difference to overall comfort and ease of use.

In use, the pumps stayed in place throughout expressing sessions, which meant she didn’t need to constantly check or adjust them once she had started.

While the units are still fairly visible under clothing, Amy didn’t find this impacted comfort day to day. The main learning curve was simply getting the fit right at the beginning, after which they fitted more smoothly into her routine.

Momcozy S9 double breast pump

A wearable double pump, the Momcozy S9 Pro features two collection cups designed for simultaneous expressing.

How hands-free is it?

On paper, the Momcozy S9 Pro is designed to be completely hands-free, and Amy did find this to be true once it was in place and running. In reality, though, she found there were limits to how mobile she felt while wearing it. While she could get on with light household jobs, she was more cautious about anything involving bending over, lifting her daughter or moving around too much, as the position of the pumps could shift.

The wearable design definitely gave her more freedom than a traditional electric pump and meant she wasn't tied to one spot while expressing. However, she found it worked best when she treated it as a chance to get a few small tasks done rather than carrying on completely as normal.

Overall, the Momcozy S9 Pro does offer genuine hands-free expressing, but in Amy's experience it works best as a semi-mobile option rather than something you can completely forget about while getting on with everything else.

Is the Momcozy S9 Pro prone to leaking?

Amy didn’t find leaking to be a common issue during everyday use, although she did notice it could happen in the early days while she was still getting used to assembling and handling the pumps. In her experience, this was more a result of user error than a problem with the pump itself.

Once she became more confident with how everything fitted together, this became less frequent, with most issues limited to specific situations such as overfilling or accidental tilting.

As Amy explains, “Only when they were very full or in the early days when I hadn’t quite got the knack of putting them together.” Overall, she found leaks were rare and usually linked to overfilling or incorrect assembly rather than a flaw with the pump itself.

How noisy is the Momcozy S9 Pro?

Although this breast pump doesn’t claim to be totally silent, Amy found it wasn’t disruptive in a normal home environment. She was still able to hold a conversation or watch TV while expressing, which made it practical for everyday use around the house.

She did note that it wasn’t something she’d use in quieter moments, saying, “This model is slightly noisier than the S12 Pro although you can still comfortably have a conversation or watch TV. I wouldn’t recommend using them while trying to get your baby to sleep!”

Beyond sound, Amy also felt discretion was limited due to the shape and size of the units. As she explained, “I wouldn’t say that these are very discrete as they sit proud on the top of a nursing bra. You’d also need to wear quite a baggy top to wear them outdoors. I wouldn’t like my neighbours to see me in them!” Overall, she found it fine for home expressing, but less suited to situations where subtlety is important.

What is the battery life like?

Amy found the battery life of this model to be one of its more reliable features during everyday use. As she was only pumping once a day, she didn’t feel she was constantly reaching for the charger, which made it easier to fit into her routine.

In practice, she found she only needed to recharge the pumps every few days, often after several sessions. As she explains, “I would charge after every third go just in case, but the battery level shows it could have gone longer than this.”

The LCD screen also helped give reassurance during use, as it clearly displayed remaining battery life, meaning there were no surprises or sudden cut-offs mid-session.

“I like that the motors are separate from the collection cups because it makes cleaning much easier.”

How easy is it to clean the Momcozy S9 Pro?

Amy found the Momcozy S9 Pro straightforward to clean once she had worked out how all the parts came apart and fitted back together. While there are a few components to manage, she quickly settled into a routine that felt manageable alongside daily use.

A key plus for her was that the motors detach from the collection cups, keeping the electrical elements separate from anything that needed washing or sterilising.

As Amy puts it, “I like that the motors are separate from the collection cups because it makes cleaning much easier.” In her routine, she mainly handwashed the parts in warm soapy water before using a cold sterilising solution. Although there are multiple pieces to keep track of, none felt particularly difficult to wash or sterilise as part of her normal routine.

Is the Momcozy S9 Pro good value for money?

Yes! Amy felt that the Momcozy S9 Pro sits in a strong value position compared with the Momcozy S12 Pro, offering many of the same core features at a lower price point, particularly if you don’t need the extra functions found on the more premium model.

At around £65 for the single version and £120 for the double pump, she felt it delivered a good balance of performance and affordability for everyday expressing. The wearable design made a noticeable difference to her routine, giving her more flexibility to pump while managing day-to-day life at home.

She did highlight that the S12 Pro offers a few additional conveniences, such as a built-in timer and quieter operation, which may justify the higher cost for some users. However, for her own needs, the S9 Pro covered the essentials well.

There are some longer-term costs to consider, including replacement parts every few months depending on usage, which may add up over time. Amy ultimately felt the convenience of the wearable design outweighed the few frustrations she encountered during testing.
