I really like the look of the bag. It is very stylish and doesn't look like a changing bag. I like the rounded shape and the extra front zip pocket.

Our verdict

With an RRP of £150, the Finnsøn Ana Changing Bag is definitely one of the most premium bags to make our shortlist of the best changing bags. However, thanks to its subtle look and waterproof design, it's a backpack you're likely to be using for years which helps its score in terms of cost-per-use.

Our parent-tester Cath said she really liked the fact that the Finnsøn doesn't look like a changing bag and its compact style: "It's smaller than the changing bag we used with our eldest but still fits everything we need in it."

Cath thoroughly tried out the Finnsøn Ana Backpack Changing Bag over a testing period of several months while out and about with her newborn baby. She assessed the bag carefully during the testing timeframe for a number of important factors including durability, practicality and value for money. She also extensively tested the bag's waterproof capabilities.

What's included with the Finnsøn Ana Backpack?

The bag comes with a changing mat. Cath said: "The mat folds down and velcros together. I like this as it makes it nice and compact and easy to find in the bag."

I like a backpack style as I find it easier to carry. I also like that it is made with recycled materials.

How big is the Finnsøn Ana Backpack?

Finnsøn Ana Backpack Changing Bag

It's the size of a medium backpack. I can fit two changes of clothes, nappies, wipes, a small blanket, a couple of toys, muslins, a bottle of milk and a bottle of water. So everything I need. I used cloth nappies with my eldest and I would struggle to fit these in due to how bulky they are.

How easy is it to carry around?

"Very easy although the straps are quite stiff and not the easiest to adjust when you are wearing the bag. The straps are well padded and make it comfortable to carry on your back. The only thing- sometimes the zip on the main pocket can be tricky to close as the lining can easily get caught."

How well does the bag fit onto your buggy or pushchair?

It fits well underneath the buggy with plenty of space left. I have an Uppababy Vista and the basket underneath is large. I haven't tried attaching it to the handle of my pushchair as I prefer to put the bag underneath but the loops provided on the bag look sturdy enough to do this.

Is the Finnsøn Ana Backpack waterproof?

"Yes it is waterproof. I have worn the bag when it has been raining heavily and everything has stayed dry inside."

How is the Finnsøn Ana for longevity? Will you continue to use it?

"I can see us using this for quite a few years and is it will fit a change of clothes and bits and pieces to keep a toddler entertained."

What are the standout features of the Finnsøn Ana Backpack Changing Bag?

Finnsøn Ana Backpack Changing Bag

My favourite features of this bag are the padded shoulders and soft fabric as well as it being waterproof. The internal pockets at the back are great for wipes and nappies, and the internal side pockets fit a bottle well. There is also an internal small zip pocket which useful for keeping phone and keys secure.

Does the Finnsøn Ana Backpack Changing Bag represent good value for money?

"I feel it is quite expensive for what it is - I like the fact it is made from recyclable materials, but there are a few flaws such as the zip getting caught. I also think it would benefit from having a zip halfway down the back which many other changing bag backpacks feature for ease of access."

Overall verdict

"Overall, I really like the look of the bag and feel we will be using it for many years, but it is let down by a couple of small things. The external pockets aren't big enough for a water bottle, there's no zip at the back and the backpack could be just a bit bigger, which affects its score for practicality. I also feel it's quite expensive for what it is."
