How we tested

Mumsnet editor Poppy tested the fan over the course of two months in her WFH office, in the car and out and about. Cross-comparing it with some of the best handheld fans on the market, she took detailed notes on the fan's effectiveness, noise levels and value for money.

Fenshine Bladeless Handheld Fan: our verdict

With a chunky handle and eye-catching colour, this handheld fan isn't designed to be tiny and inconspicuous like the EasyAcc Mini Handheld Fan. Designed with make up and false eyelashes in mind, the handheld fan comes with a little holder so you can stand it on your desk or table, pointing its gentle breeze at your face.

The fan's bladeless design gives it a sleek look, while eliminating any worries about getting your hair caught in it. This, partnered with its easy-to-grab handle makes it a good fan for kids. With just one button to turn it on and toggle between 3 fan speeds, it's a perfect holiday buy to keep kids cool in the sunshine or while travelling.

The Fenshine fan is a bit rattlier than other handheld options. Made from lightweight plastic, it doesn't feel as robust as some of the other fans I've tested, and it's quite noisy too.

At £10, this is a cheap and cheerful holiday buy that's perfect to have on hand when your little ones start complaining about the heat. They'll love the bright colours and ability to use the fan independently.

It's also perfect for setting make up, with a gentle breeze and the option to hold it in your hand or stand it on a flat surface. Chunkier and larger than other handheld fans, it's not one I would choose to keep in my bag regularly as it takes up quite a bit of space.

How effective is the Fenshine Bladeless Handheld Fan?

Generating a gentle breeze at 3 speed settings, you have to hold the fan quite close - about 15cm from your face to feel the effects. It's not the strongest breeze I've seen on a portable fan, but it makes a difference and helps me feel fresher on warm days.

What's the Fenshine Bladeless Handheld Fan like to use day-to-day?

Due to its size and the fact that it doesn't fold or have a wrist strap, this fan isn't the easiest to carry around or store in the car for long journeys. I like it better in its stand on my desk, and it makes a great fan for kids to use, thanks to its bladeless design.

The chunky handle and lightweight construction make the Fenshine Bladeless Handheld Fan comfortable to hold and position to send a stream of air wherever you need it most.

Is the Fenshine Bladeless Handheld Fan good value for money?

At £10, this is a bargain buy. It has a USB charger so you don't need to fiddle around with batteries, and the little stand makes it surprisingly versatile. Made from lightweight plastic, it doesn't look or feel like a high-quality object, but it provides a welcome breeze and is safe for kids to use.
