Mumsnet editor Poppy tested the EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan at home and on the move, taking detailed notes on its effectiveness, ease of use and battery life. Poppy tested the fan in a number of everyday situations, including at her WFH desk and as a passenger in a car with no air conditioning.

How effective is the EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan?

The fan has three speed settings, so I could get the cooling level just to my liking at the touch of a button. At its highest setting, the fan gives a powerful blast of cool air, but it's also quite noisy, especially while I'm working.

At the lowest setting, the fan provides a gentle, pleasant breeze and a low hum - not too distracting. Plus, at the lower setting the battery lasts longer, so I'd choose this speed for maintaining a nice, cool atmosphere at my desk. In a hot car with noise from the road and radio, the highest setting works best.

What's the EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan like to use day-to-day?

Getting the EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan set up and ready to use was straightforward. There's a silver sticker instructing you to remove the insulation sheet from the battery compartment before you start using, which is quick and easy to do. The fan comes with a USB charger cable that can be plugged into your laptop, a USB plug or power bank.

The best thing about this fan is its versatility. Light and compact enough to fit in your pocket or bag, it has a hinge under the fan that means you can hold it in your hand or fold it into a mini desk fan. Fold it to any angle and you can have the fan pointed up at your face, or fold the handle all the way down for a more stable, but forward-facing, option.

When folded at an angle and sitting on a flat surface, the fan is relatively stable. I use a standing desk and the fan does wobble slightly if the desk platform moves, but stays upright even during the most vigorous of typing. When folded all the way down, the fan is more stable, but its small size meant the breeze didn't hit my face.

The button to adjust the fan speed is under the fan when in this position, which is slightly inconvenient as you have to pick up the fan to change the settings or turn it off. However, it's such a light fan that this isn't a big deal.

On the move, it's a welcome ally on hot days. Whether you're travelling by public transport or in a car with no air conditioning, the fan provides a generous amount of air circulation in an otherwise stuffy atmosphere. Its ability to double up as a desk fan makes it absolutely perfect for those commuting into work during a heatwave.

Is the EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan good value for money?

The EasyAcc Portable Handheld Fan is the most expensive option on our best handheld fans round-up, due to its size. Boasting a fan twice as large as the EasyAcc Mini Handheld Fan (seen in the image above), it moves more air around and provides a more powerful breeze than a smaller handheld fan.

Because of this, we think it's worth the £23 price tag for those who want to maximise their cooling and use their handheld fan both on the go and at their desk.
